My mom is in debt and the notification says that on 7/17/2007, $679.13 debt cancelled.what does this indicate??
Answers: For what ever reason, the edge is forgiving the amount due. Your mom will not have to compensate this debt. If you are curious, then appointment the bank and ask for an explanation and principle why the debt was canceled.

The good report is that she does not have to recompense $679.13 of the debt (which may be all of it; you do not say).
The discouraging news is that she have to pay taxes on the $679.13. They should be sending a 1099 form after that.
