I know I can check my credit report for free but what about my credit score?
Answers: The law only allows for credit report for free so naturally everybody charges for the score. But some have it pretty cheap.
You're credit score is almost always included in your credit report. Its a part of it.
At least it was for me, they (bank of america) give you a trial period for free that included the credit score. But then after 30 days you have to pay to get it updated... Other sites might not give you the actual score without paying.
Credit scores are proprietary and you have to pay for them. Most creditors use FICO scores. So if you buy your score make sure you get a FICO and not a Fako. Best place to buy your score is MyFICO.com
Missed credit card giving due to bill not received from credit card company, do I hold a destiny to retify it?
I applied for a credit card while shopping at Sears. My shopping was charged against this card. But the company enter my address incorrectly in their system. I be said the card will be sent to me in two weeks time. I have no refference of account number. This happen in Oct-2007. When I reviewed my annual credit report I notice, the card is active and I have owed 250 USD for the Sear-Citi card for more than 30 days. I was shocked, because I never get a bill from them. I called the customer service to verify what happen, they admited to have my address account as incorrect in their system. I compensated my outstanding balance thru phone. Now, do I hold a chance to gain rid of this non-payment transcript from the credit report. I belive that I have be victimised by an incorrect data entry, please guidance.
Answers: Call the card issuer, they can update the record near the credit bureau, or you can dispute it through the credit bureau. From no on now that they hold the correct address and considering on time payments it will show positive on the report.
Let's see you charged $250 to the card within October and you didn't notice until JANUARY that you never get a bill?
Sears may not care at this point. You *knew* you owed them, you should enjoy contacted them earlier.
You can try to ask Sears or the credit bureaus to remove the journal, but the truth is that you made the charge, and regardless, you were responsible for paying it. At the markedly least, you may know how to add a personal statement to your credit report explaining the grounds.
If this is the only blemish on your account, just try to maintain everything else clean. Good for you for reviewing your credit report regularly.
