I am 20 years old, and I simply got married. I've never be in any sort of debt until I disappeared the Army. Now I have $8000 to repay. my husband have declared bankruptcy in the past we were married, and he is immediately in $71,000 of debt. ($62000 for the vehicle and the rest is credit card debt) If he dies, is all his debt mine to income off? What can I do? Ididn't even know this until we be married.Answers: Jaclyn, these answers are all over the board and incompletely incorrect.
Understand that every state has different law, and probate can sometimes be complicated.
But in common, when your husband dies they will be able to collect from HIS estate. If the home/car/property is within HIS name, they can come after it.
If you rank in a "community property" state, these protections will not comfort you.
If you have any debts contained by both of your names, they can collect from you.
If this is a main concern, I would suggest you locate an attorney who specializes is "asset protection". By removing his name stale property you could protect it from creditors.
If your name is not on a CR compact disc you don't have to verbs about.
Bu,t if your label is on the CARD, Yes, it is your responsible just resembling your husband. If you don't wanna be a part of it cart your name bad the card. Good luck!
If he dies you will be have to repay it, if you don't they will come find anything that is connected to the loan. So if its credit cards they will gain nothing, or they will come gain the car, if you don't salary. I would suggest settling the balances immediately and trying to get them at a lower payments. As long as those accounts are not communal, you won't be held responsible for his debts -- unless you live in a community property state.
$62K for a sports car kinda took my breath away. You need to enjoy a very serious conversation next to your husband about his spending traditions. I suspect that he won't change and eventually you will own to get rid of him.
Sounds close to you got screwed earlier the wedding !! If your husband have a car that cost $ 62 K...what be he thinking when he bought it? he must have know he couldn't settle up for it..
Sell the car..buy a cheaper motor...take the rest and reward down the debt..use 8,000 to repay your debt so" your" credit is clean.
Get a divorce.and don't get hold of married again until you know everything about your subsequent husband....good luck !
I don't know why you are asking if your husband dies? nearby are so may ways to fix any problem.
If you are 2 years old I give attention to your husband is also young right?
So he have declared bankruptcy past your marriage adjectives his debit
before conjugal is not your responsibility and your money is just your money. Now this is lot;s of money to settle up why don't you get divorce and still you can live beside him and that way you are going free from adjectives this problem.
I would get divorce indistinguishable day love is one entity but but cleaning his ** is something else.
You are not responsible for anyone's debt (not even your husband's) but your own. My husband died when he was 42. He owed credit cards and tons of bills. Even have a truck repossessed just in the past he died. They called me over and over to repay it. I said no and they left me alone. If anyone tries to gain money he owed from you, (and they will) Tell them no and that you will call your lawyer( even if you don't enjoy one) and for them to leave you alone. In a few mo. they will and you do not own to worry. You do not owe anything of his.Ever!

Now, the business is closed down and I have not received a Refund or and Contact what-so-ever. What can I do?I own the receipts and everything that was given to me.
I go to Bank Of America and they said that they cannot do anything because it has be more than 60 days from the actual payment.
What should I do? The amount I compensated was exactly 374.50. Thank You for the give a hand everyone!
Answers: all you can do is count it as a loss
if you choose to sue them here is so much legal work, lawful fee's, time loss etc and that wont be worth $374.50
There isn't anything you can do. Just chalk it up to an expensive lesson.
