How do i cancel my credit card?...its from capitol one?
Answers: im sorry sweatheart capital one is one of the WORST credit cards to carry. they have huge finance charges and hiddden fees. my friend had a card with a 300 dollar limit she did not pay her bill and it shot up to 800! yes if i were you i would not cancel the card because they are going to make you pay a large amount to cancel it. if i were you i would just simply stop using it as long as they dont charge you an annual fee. you will not have to pay anything on it. capital one is such a messy credit company that they could hurt your credit by canceling the card. never get involved with them again and i would advise you pay the remainder balance owed and then cut it up but dont cancel it.
You need to find out if there are any cancellation fee's for your card. If not close it immediately and never used them again.
They have the worse customer service. I just cursed out 2 of their reps THIS MORNING because i requested to close my business money market account. They told me without my pin number they can't close the account.
I've never heard of someone not able to close their account without a pin number. And I work for a local bank so I know they are full of crap!
Inform them that you are terminating the account.
Do this by certified letter, return receipt requested and phone,
Pay it off first. Then send a letter to close the account. Request written verification that the account is closed and 0 balance. Keep these letters with your important financial papers. Closed credit card accounts have a habit of coming back to life.

To Repair credit score
Your credit win is based mostly on:
1. Length of credit history
2. Payment history.
3. Ratio of credit used to available credit.
4. Number of credit inquiries you authorized.
If you put an end to your card, you'll be hurting your credit ratio. (#3).
You want to deliberately preserve your oldest credit card open, even if you never use it.
You want to other pay the minimums of respectively loan on time every month.
You want to hold on to your available credit high, but in truth only hold balances equalinig 25% or smaller number.
You want to keep your credit inquiries to a minimum. Try for no more than 3 or 4 per year for any type of loans.
You do these things and your credit chalk up will quickly soar into the 700s.

Collection company settlement memo. What should be on it?
I just deal with a collection comapny on an description of $4750.I negotiated it to be $1150, and presently I need them to dispatch me a settlement letter approaching everyone else suggested.
I will ask them to state the amount is paid surrounded by full, no future lawsuit file regarding to this distinctive account, no adjectives contacts and the account is closed permanately. I'll also try to gain them report to the credit report that the amount is PAID IN FULL instead of a discounted settlement amount.
Is there anything else I should request to put on it?
Thank you for your support and have a great daytime!
Answers: good post on the negotiation!
make sure you go and get the letter until that time sending money... or you will find out you have no treaty.
sounds like you only about get it... "after my final payment of xx amount, this depiction is paid contained by full, no further payment is required or expected".
also, do not donate them access to your accounts or money... or they will rob you blind (they often slump so cant' be trusted until this is in writing).
That should suffice
Good Job!
You're asking them to state the amount is rewarded in full? Please data that your credit history will not reflect that. Your credit history will show that the details was "settled". They will not, will not, will not, report it as "rewarded in full" to the credit agencies, because you did not settle up it in full. The company took a loss on it, they negotiate to accept a minor amount instead of continuing to chase after you to get some money. Why would they fudge the truth for you? They won't.
In the adjectives, never settle accounts. Never. Pay it full. Having an account surrounded by collections is bad satisfactory, settling it only make it worse on your credit report, and there is no such item as a "credit doctor" - they can't delete true information from the report. It will stay on there for several years.
I would recommend accumulation - Zero Balance- Paid in Full. I hold used this verb age in decree to get credits re-scored. Once you grasp the settlement letter contact adjectives 3 beau to update your credit file.
If you want, I can give credit re scoring through my company at a very nominal allowance.
be sure you check with your toll professional because forgiven debt can be considered income and may have to be reported (and taxed) on your tariff return. ask the collection company and if they say its not going to be reported as income go and get that in writing as in good health.
also be sure to keep the memo with esteemed financial documents forever. yes. forever.
