Answers: I don't know, but you can't afford it. Not only your score will drop, A LOT, but it alerts companies that you have accounts with that you missed a payment. It becomes a domino effect. If you miss a payment on your mortgage and you credit card companies find out, they can charge you what's call the "universal default rate" meaning that your interest rates on your credit cards just went up.
There's no set amount- but it will drop. If this has already happened, make sure you get caught up- meaning make two payments next month, not one. If you miss one payment and then go back to making one payment every month, you continue to be late- that one payment you skipped doesn't just disappear.
Do whatever you can to pay your mortgage on time every month. Let other bills go if you really must, but pay the mortgage on time.
It depends which country you are in. In the UK, mortgage lenders do not show mortgage arrears or missed payments for the first 3 months.
The best thing to do is to speak to your mortgage company straight away and discuss your circumstances. Hopefully they will help you reorganise your payments to get you back on track.
You need to prioritise your income to pay as much as you can of your mortgage payment, and keep any arrangements you make with the lender, but if you have to break the agreement, speak to your lender first, so they always know what is happening.
Most lenders will look for possession of the property once arrears reach 3 months, but if you keep them on your side, this time period is extremely elastic.
