I know they are allowed to have a min. amount for accepting the mastercard, but if they adopt mastercard are they allowed to charge a 3% fee above the amount newly for accepting mastercard? I read somewhere that it is against visa and mastercard policy to do this, but I'm not sure on the law.
Answers: It's not against the tenet. It -is- against Mastercard policy, last I hear. There might be an 800 number to report them to Mastercard. Or if the price is cheap enough, merely pay the 3%, or transport your business elsewhere.
