Canadian statute of limitations on unpaid debt?

I recently get a call from a collections for a bill from 2001 (I be stupid then, for sure) Can they still lawfully do anything to me?

Can you comprehend ?

Answers:   This depends on where surrounded by Canada you are located as the Statute of Limitations varies from Province to Province. Generally speaking however a seven year frail debt has passed the SOL (unless it's a rule student loan, there are some special rules for those you'll want to check).

You do still owe the money, but they can no longer sue you for the amount, and unless you "renew" the debt (by making a grant on it) they cannot report it on your credit report.

Check with the consumer protection department of your adjectives government to be sure, but contained by all likelyhood you can enlighten them to pound sand.

Good luck!
