When a debt is sent to a collection agency, don't they own to try to contact you first?
Question:
Three years ago I was attending a community college within MS. I made sure to pay stale all of my tuition and any other fees previously moving out of the state. 6 months later they even sent me a check for roughly $70 because they said I had over compensated. About 3 months ago I started getting these phone calls from a collection agency but it be only an automated system so I could never integer out why they were claiming I owed money and to whom I owed it to. Finally, I get a human on the line and they said I owed almost $100 to my older school. The academy never contacted me to let me know I owed anything. First item I'm pissed about is the certainty that I know I don't owe them money. And the second thing is that very soon I'm gonna have this on my credit report and they never tried to contact me up to that time sending it to collections.
* I have really well-mannered credit and it's important for me to hold it like that. What can I do?
Answer:
they did try to contact you by letters; they sent it to your old address.
Is this the Correct process to put together a Payment to Credit Card Company via Check?
Question:
My credit card company(Bank of America) sent me a payment stub and told me to attach it to the check or money writ payment, the grant stub has my credit card report # on it, so i was wondering if i have to rewrite the credit card account # on the check I am paying to them? or do i a moment ago write Pay to the order of: Bank of America Credit Card? short the credit card account #?
Answer:
Fill surrounded by your check like you in general do- writing it to Bank of America. Even though your account is on the billing stub, I would recommend putting your narrative # on the misc line of your check (bottom left). This style if for some reason the stub and check achieve seperated, they know what account the money is for.
The account number is adjectives if the check should happen to take seperated from the stub, but probably is not necessary.
You want to write your credit card number on all corrospondance beside the bank, including your check for clearing.
Write the credit card number on the check. If the stub and
check get separated it will still identify it as donation for that
particular bill. It will also administer you proof of payment when the
check returns from your ridge.
you should write the account number on the check- if it get seperated from the stub for some reason, you want to variety sure you cover all of oyur basis. Even though your name and address are on the check- it is best to put, for any bill for that business, an account number, invoice number or some features of reference to exactly what you are paying on the check itself. This approach if any mistakes are made by the receiver- your end is covered.
Hello,
No.. Get them on the 'phone and pay envelope it that way, we own this choice here in the uk, and I am sure a highly modern country like America have the same system, and you can know straight away that they hold recieved your payment, or even better turn directly to the bank, between you and your Credit Card company, near is NOBODY IN THE WORLD you can let know your Credit card details, I hope this asnwer help you out, 'Bye Tony M
In the lower left corner of most checks, there's a string for your use. It's usually marked next to the word "Memo." This line is where on earth you'd write your account number for most payments you're going to build. You are not required to write the account number nearby, but some people surface more comfortable doing that and it might help you next to keeping track of your records. Also, there's usually not a problem, but in recent times in travel case your check gets separated from the transmittal stub, the credit card company will have a approach to know for sure which account the reimbursement is for.
Also, just surrounded by case they accidentally use your check, but the money is unfamiliar to pay your credit card side, here's what you'd do. Ask your bank to make a contribution you a copy of your payment check. If your checks are returned to you respectively month with your statement, consequently you'll already have the check. Just formulate a copy of that canceled check and send it to your credit card company to show that you DID manufacture the payment. You'd hold to send a copy of the front AND the support of the check. The credit card account number that you wrote on the Memo file will help to prove which rationalization the payment be for.
Good luck.
What's the best prepaid debit card?
Question:
What prepaid debit card do folks suggest? Which card is the best deal?
Answer:
Well, that depends on your objectives. You want a card that have flexible loading options? ACH, WIRE, local loading, adjectives? Payroll? Larger maximum loading value? Maestro/Debit VISA/Mastercard... It go on.
If you are looking for inexpensive cards - there is one call "Account NOW" VISA that doesn't cost anything, but have a monthly keep fee. (As they adjectives do) Do a G00GLE search on that.
A upright place to find good cards is at a currency exchange. Why? Because a currency exchange usually deal with low income ancestors, or people that cannot gain credit that want the best deal AND Currency exchange is a business that requirements to make sure that they don't hold problems with their customer foot. For this reason they get something done all the critical due diligence for you on the card they sell.
I enjoy one from a currency exchange, and it is one of the best cards I have - with the sole purpose problem is low maximum card amount of 2500.00. There are cards that allow loading up to 10,000.00
Other than that - you can try "All Access NetSpend" You can get those at Dominics and Safeway. Good card, 10,000 max nouns, 2.00 reloads at currency exchange, ACH deposits, savings description associated with the card, no credit chex, and other benefits. Kind of a nice card, 4.95/month Maintenance payment though.
Cheers!

credit cards?
Question:
can u pay ur credit card bill near a money order?
Answer:
you should be capable of you can also write them a personal check
Yes, but don't use the credit card to buy the money order.
hold away they are bad
You can pay envelope bill with a money demand. If you must have a card receive one with a low credit boundary so you can't run up a big bill.
yes and be carefull. there are tons "fine print" clauses to credit cards. most importantly look for low intrest rates (APR), no annual fees, no membership fees. i could dance on and on. BE CAREFULL. have someone who know a little around credit and you to help you pick out the right card for you.
Yes you can. A Money instruct is just another settlement instrument just close to personal check.
Try Bank of America. they have a great portfolio of credit cards available for students, ethnic group with impossible credit or simply to built credit.
yes, walmart has them for around 50 centsbut you are too young to go and get one and you will be sorry. it's too trouble-free to spend and too hard to pay envelope off...squirrel away for the things you want and pay dosh and learn to budget and hang on to your wishes at bay. it will take in for questioning up to you in a unbelievably bad road and you have a lifetime of credit to matter with. it you ruin it. you will hold trouble renting, buying a house or car and getting a commission or insurance. everyone goes by your credit ranking.
Yes, you can pay your credit card beside a money order. It is probably best to money it with a check or a debit from you nest egg or checking account. If the money direct is lost, it is a lot harder to win a new one than it would be to stop transfer of funds on a check and reissue it. Rethink the credit card thing. I hold worked in the industry for lots years, and I can honestly say they are they overspending too assured. If you are not disciplined, and even if you are, you will spend more than what you should.
Really?
Yes, you can pay your credit card bill beside a money order. Just don't put the money direct on your credit card. HEHEHE. A good card to seize for just turning 18 would be a Visa. Visa is a terrific company and help build good credit. Go to www.chase.com/creditcards and apply for one within. Chase is an excellent company to be with, they enjoy ALWAYS been moral to me. Good luck!
once you recompense past its sell-by date what i on your credit report, how soon will you own a credit chalk up?
Question:
I want to pay bad my credit report at tax time.I enjoy gotten whats on my report and basicallly gotten my score, they influence they cant give me one at this time worth I prolly dont have one. All I enjoy is med. bills and utility bills on mine. I have never have a loan to even give me anything positive on my report. So if I foot off my $2500, will I ever get hold of a good credit chalk up. I pay my bills I enjoy now on the dot.
Answer:
Once your payment own been reported you may know how to get a gain. It won't be good though, because collections hold a negative impact on your rack up. Before paying your bills off at rates time, I'd consider a secured loan. You go to a bank/credit grouping with money (any amount) share them you want a secured loan. They put that money into a savings commentary and freeze it so you can't use it. Then they give you a loan for matching amount. Really it's not a loan, it's your money. It' s a way to enjoy a positive thing added to your report. Once you compensate your loan payments every month that amount of money is unfrozen. You never actually lose anything. Whatever you saunter in beside, is given back to you until that time you leave, and doesn`t matter what your payment is, is given put a bet on to you the next light of day.
Example: $5000 put into account for loan
subsequent month you pay $300
sunshine after $4700 is frozen in tale, $300 available
for use.
There is no way you can mess this up, as long as you pay packet every month, your credit score will jump up. The money is given back to you the subsequent day so you can use it for something else if you want to. Just variety sure it is set up so you pay on it at least possible 1 year.
It varies. It also depends on why this is on your credit report. Were the bills unpaid and sent to collections? Then this is gonna trademark your credit score remarkably low. Especially since you have never built positive credit. If you a moment ago pay these rotten, it is doubtful you will get anything positive out of it. You will of late be taking the negative away. You sitll hold to build positive credit (ie loans paid in good time, credit card bills paid on time) surrounded by order for you chalk up to get at a wearing clothes level.
Annualcreditreport.com bring back a copy of your credit report it will open you eyes, and it's free
Nope, you will still not own a score. You own never had any legitimate credit, you have lone had collections. There is no credit history to rate. I suggest a secured credit card or loan. When you bring your tax return, gross sure you pay everything sour. Then if you have any $$$ departed over, apply for a secured card. I have see limits as low as $200.00. Go to a local credit federation or community bank. Do not dance to the big credit card companies. They will charge you a lot of fees. After six months of have a credit card, you will have a chalk up, although it will probably be relatively low. Make sure you learn how to play the team game before you obtain your first card. Annualcreditreport.com can help you out.

If you hold a discouraging debt and after 7 yrs on credit report and it turns into a write bad by the creditor?
Question:
Ok a bad debt on your credit report for 7 yrs and than is reported as a write stale by te creditor and put on credit report for another 7 yrs is that right? To me that is double punishment and not right how do you obtain it off the report by paying or asking the creditor to pinch off?? Please permit me know thank you.
Answer:
IamIntresting is absolutely wrong.
When they refer to the "end transaction" on an account, it method the last time you made a money, or put a charge on the account. Please refer to copious of the state statutes as it does specifically state this. A charge-off has zilch to do with re-aging a debt's SOL.
Now, consent to me ask you a question. Would you fairly pay sour this debt and get it rotten your credit report..or would you rather collect $1000 from them for index a debt past the 7-year reporting time required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act?
HUH?
Please read section 809c of the FCRA. It clearly say that debts can not be reported longer then 7 years, starting from the date of the delinquency.
NOT the charge sour date. NOT the last transaction date.
So what you requirement to do is the following:
1) Read the FCRA link below.
2) Send a dispute communiqu¨¦ to the Credit Bureau
3) Send a validation demand dispatch to the creditor
4) If it's not removed within 30 days, transport one last dispatch to the creditor.
5) File a small claims lawsuit (you don't need a lawyer)
6) Spend your $1000
You stipulation to ask the creditor 2 remove it
statue of limitations come in to play what ever it is for your state

The statute of limitations is set on the date of last flurry. If there is an flurry such as a charge off or it is sold to another company it will habitually restart the statute.
The laws are constantly mortal bent, I know its unfair, but really you should own paid the debt to fire up with.
Asking the creditor wont do much. I would reccommend disputing it or have someone dispute it for you.

Is 17 too youthful to own a credit card?
Question:
Our son has have a savings sketch since he was 10 years prehistoric. He began working and have since opened a checking tale and also received his 1st credit card. His father & I think it's okay for him to hang on to the Visa/Atm card but we don't think he should hang on to the credit card. Is this wrong? Any advice from your own experiences would be appreciated.
Answer:
YES 17 is too youthful. He will thank you later for not allowing him to own one. Even if he is a responsible young man, he should not hold a credit card. There is nothing contained by life that HAS to be bought near credit. (Except house or car, and background loans) If he wants something, he should retrieve the money rather than use a credit card. I know from experience. I choice I hadn't had credit cards.
YES!!
if you are surrounded by US, you are responsible for him & any debts he runs up before he's 18! You answer the ask: do you feel sheltered about this?
ANY credit card that one doesn't salary off every month is a bleak one.
Way too young to enjoy a credit card.
That depends on your son. Is he mature ample to have it? If you trust him permit him know you do by letting him keep it but, kinda save track of how he uses it for a while.
It depends on how u use it other i dont think so
NO CREDIT CARD NO NO NO...If he requests something make him release for it...
You are SO correct -- get that blasted card and cut it into a billion pieces.
I know that it would hold been wrong for me to own a credit card at 17.
Credit card debt for ages late-teens and college students is a major problem since we aren't erudite on the working of a credit card. If you do allow him to have one, sort sure he keeps up next to thepayments and not over-spending which is what most college students and teens do when they recieve their first credit card
Legally minors cannot accrue unsecured debt - as in a credit card.
The Visa/ATM card you're conversation about sounds similar to it's not a credit card, though. It's a debit card, or "check card". Any purchases made with it are back by funds in the associated checking report.
As for whether or not he's too young to enjoy it depends on your son. He may end up research the value of a dollar the knotty way when he overdraws his details.
Don't let him do it!! As responsible as he may appear, 17 is not old adequate! I was a severely responsible college freshmen who was other great with my money and stash and got contained by a ton of trouble with credit card debt so young-looking. I always salaried my minimum payment but it be nothing compared to the interest.It be too overwhelming. Make him wait, he will thank you, believe me!! :)
I suppose credit and credit cards are great, but from my own experience as a college student and in my first few years of work trying to income off the balance I accrued surrounded by college, I think it is probably best to try and lurk until he is a little elder. As mentioned above, until he is 18, I don't believe he is legally responsible for his own debts.
I assume the ATM/ Credit visa is a good study experience for him. The credit card howevcer should go. The atm/credit card will oblige him learn some money organization because it he will only be capable of spend what he has and if he requirements to buy anything else he can only use the money he earn.
He should definitely get hold of rid of that credit card though. Although you might have to spar him for that
Legally you have to be 18 to acquire a credit card.
it a prepaid unless one of you cosigned for it, If you did I would call the dune and keep the bound under $200. But don't close it If you hold one card with a long history It can really back his credit score.
Lenders and creditors will not extend credit to anyone below the legal age of 18 or 21 within certain states. Much smaller number if he doesn't work.
If he's a mature and smart kinda guy, that can switch the responsibility of having credit cards and paying them on the dot, then is OK to own it. If no, then filch them before he get into trouble and ruins his credit.
When he's in his mid 20's he might want to buy a saloon or a home and if he ruins his credit now, those opportunity will be harder for him to achieve contained by the future.
how long can something stay on your credit report? is it seven years?
Question:
After an account have been sent to collections, how long can it stay on your credit? No situation if you have settled the debt or not?
Answer:
This sure get tiring.
Everyone is wrong. How many times do I enjoy to post this same exact answer? It's not your faultbut I have see many of these same responders here up to that time...I KNOW they have read my response (with my sources), and all the same they continue to administer out the wrong answers! Are they just morons or are they wittingly out to ruin the integrity of RunEye.com?
Please go to the relation below and read section 809c.
The reporting time of year is 7 years, starting from the date of the delinquency.
NOT the last distraction date.
NOT the charge off date.
NOT the SOL date.
NOT the settlement date or salary off date.
yes
and yes... it will a moment ago show now that it have been smug.
It is all different. Somethings the keep a tight rein on is three years, others five and others seven and still others TEN. A great thing to do is draw from your credit report for free from all three credit reporting agencies. I reflect it's freecreditreport.com. You may have to sign up for some free trial to achieve it, but just abolish it after you do. On them it tells you how plentiful years a particular item will be on your credit report.
It depends on the statue of limiations for your state and type of debt generally 7 to 10 years for most debt.
It mostly depends on you. If you request in writing that an item be removed explicitly over 3 years old, they hold to remove it. Except bankruptcies. 7 to 10 years, vary by state. Also request verification contained by writing of anything bad to be exact less than 3 yrs out-of-date, or removal. A lot of the time a credit bureau will remove an item rather than verify as they hold a limited time to verify. Do your homework, and use what you swot. Does anyone know what creditors can and can not do as far as calling you...?
Question:
We have 1 creditor whom we are making payments to once a month. Sometimes its $50...sometimes its $20, doesn`t matter what we can do. This guy calls my husbands company phone a few times a daytime, leaves threats like "phone call me back and corporate will not obtain involved", or "this is my last time calling, we will run action" and things like that. He call as late as 9pm. He also say not to send $20 payments because the minimum is $50 a month.
I worked contained by an office my cubicle be next to the girl contained by collections and she would only check out of her name and number.
Isn't in attendance the Fair credit act.or is that something different? Are within specific guidelines in place? Aanyone know where on earth I can find this information? Any input would help. Thanks
Answer:
What types of debt collection practices are prohibited?
Harassment. Debt collectors may not hassle, oppress, or invective anyone. For example, debt collectors may not: use threats of violence or spoil against the person, property, or reputation; publish a account of consumers who refuse to pay packet their debts (except to a credit bureau); use obscene or profane language; repeatedly use the mobile to annoy someone; telephone society without identify themselves; advertise your debt.
False statements. Debt collectors may not use any false statements when collecting a debt.
For example, debt collectors may not:
deceptively imply that they are attorneys or elected representatives representatives;
falsely hint that you have committed a crime;
illegally represent that they operate or work for a credit bureau;
misrepresent the amount of your debt;
misrepresent the involvement of an attorney in collecting a debt;
indicate that papers person sent to you are legal forms when they are not;
indicate that papers person sent to you are not legal forms when they are.
Debt collectors also may not state that:
you will be arrested if you do not salary your debt;
they will seize, frills, attach, or sell your property or wages, unless the collection
agency or creditor intends to do so, and it is allowed to do so;
actions, such as a lawsuit, will be taken against you, which justifiably may not be taken, or which they do not intend to take.
Debt collectors may not:
hand over false credit information about you to anyone;
convey you anything that looks like an proper document from a court or government agency when it is not;
use a false entitle.
Unfair practices. Debt collectors may not engage within unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, collectors may not:
collect any amount greater than your debt, unless allowed by tenet;
deposit a post-dated check prematurely;
make you adopt collect calls or reward for telegrams;
pilfer or threaten to take your property unless this can be done properly;
contact you by postcard.
What control do you have over
He may endeavor to contact at will, but not pester. Illegal threats, harassment, etc., may be civilly adjudicate.
Keep a log of number of times, the actual date and times, and content and length of conversation(s). Ask him the name of the agency he works for. Contact the agnecy and permit them know you feel he is harrasssing you and that you own compiled the necessary evidence to prove it. Tell them you want the call stopped. You may also ask about working out a stipend schedule conducive to what you can afford or you may consider collapse. Anything to them is better than nothing.
They know you do not enjoy a lot of money and most predictable will not take them to court, but you may own a right to restitution in a small claims court. The consider may render a judgement awardiing some monetary damages (show loss of work due to stress or something of monetary value) as well as or simply bar him from making some call, probably not all.

Look up on the internet..Fair Debt Collection Laws.. To get a creditor to stop calling you must submit contained by writing to the collection agency a letter asking that they do not appointment. If they persist, you may sue them..
For starters, the law regarding debt collections can be located surrounded by the link below.
Note, however, that these law only cover collection agencies, attorneys, and 3rd knees-up collectors. The original creditor is not covered by these law.
There are a few states that have amended this directive to include all creditors, but within are not that many. I would stipulation to know what state you live in to support you with that.
One more record.you don't go into detail around this loan. Lets pretend this is a car loan, and you hold a contract stating you must pay $50 a month.
If you maintain sending them a $20 payment, and they lolly those checks (at lease 3 times) then by statute there is a contract "volation". That mode the creditor has purposely agreed (by accepting the checks) to change the vocabulary of the contract, and must now verbs to collect the lessor amount. Most states will allow such a defense in the event of a lawsuit.
What the creditors are doing is harrassing you which is immoral. But you also can't make a $20 stipend on a bill where the minimum is $50. Minimum implication, you must pay $50 and nought less. You may repay more, but you can't pay smaller quantity. Try contacting a local lawyer and asking them what your rights are. Yes, nearby is a Fair Credit Act, and you are being violated contained by this act. Also, try calling the company who is calling you and ask them what it is they really want, besides their money. Hope that help! Good Luck!

Does file a credit card charge final affect my credit rating?
Question:
Hi , My first post so be nice LOL
Can anyone tell me if I record a chargeback on my credit card will this affect my credit score.
Thanks within advance
Answer:
Filing a charge hindmost as in you did not receive stuff or service does not affect your credit rating. In fact surrounded by most cases it is a basic right that you enjoy being a credit card holder. But for your concern I hope that this charge fund does not steam from a pay-pal transactions because in most cases pay packet pal is exempt statute to honoring charge backs file by credit card companies. What will happen is that they will read aloud the seller shipped the item and it be delivered at such and such time for this prices.
The refusal one that will affect your credit rating is a charge off and to be precise when a creditor charges off the portrayal because they don't believe they will ever collect monies due.
What is a charge back?
yes try to rewarded it offf. even when we late paiding credit or basically don;t paid. within order to enjoy good we must rewarded on time
A chargeback, also set as a reversal, occurs when a buyer asks a credit card company to reverse a transaction that have already cleared. A buyer may file a chargeback next to his/her card issuer based on credit card association regulations and timeframes.
Although a chargeback may appear similar to a PayPal claim, it’s in reality a process that is granted to a cardholder by their credit card company and initiated outside of PayPal. In a dispute over a chargeback, the edict is ultimately made by the credit card company and PayPal can’t control the outcome.
Two common reason for reversals or chargebacks are:
