Credit Questions and Answers

Thanks Jen. Now another one. Does a credit report debt show exactly when the 7 year waiting time of year started?

Does the 7 year waiting period start on the date shown on my credit report for the concluding payment or the actual date when the debt is charged off/written rotten? If the 7 year waiting period start date and expire date are not shown or are unclear on my credit report consequently how do I go almost finding this info? If a creditor charges a unsecured debt off and sell the obligation to a collection company is in attendance any advantage or constraint to pay this second company anything save for to stop them harrassing me? If I don't pay this second company rotten will this also show up as an item on my credit report at some time?

Answers:
I have to disagree near Credit Guru on this.

From my reading of the law, the starting date for reporting begin on the day of failure to pay. I have see many empire (especially collection agents) state that it begins on the final transaction, or other dates. The files below clearly show they are wrong.

Here is the portion of the tenet from the Fair Credit Reporting Act. You read it and decide....

§ 605. Requirements relating to information contained within consumer reports [15 U.S.C. § 1681c]

(a) Information excluded from consumer reports. Except as authorized under subsection (b) of this article, no consumer reporting agency may make any consumer report containing any of the following items of information:

(4) Accounts placed for collection or charged to profit and loss which antedate the report by more than seven years.(1)

(c) Running of reporting extent.

(1) In general. The 7-year time referred to in paragraph (4) and (6)(2) of subsection (a) shall begin, near respect to any delinquent account to be precise placed for collection (internally or by referral to a third party, whichever is earlier), charged to profit and loss, or subjected to
any similar deed, upon the expiration of the 180-day period launch on the date of the
commencement of the delinquency which immediately preceded the collection hum, charge to profit and loss, or similar action.

Also read the intertwine below. This is a staff opinion notification from the Federal Trade Commission addressing this really subject.

Any comments from those who still disagree would be appreciated.

You have no constraint to even talk to a collection agency unless they enjoy purchased your debt outright. Your debt it to the original creditor. If a collection agency is harrassing you, a simple "cease and desist" notification will put a quick stop to it.

They may post the charge to your credit, but the reporting length is the same as above. Passing rotten your debt does not restart the reporting clock.

Read the law! Knowledge of the regulation is your only weapon! You are aggression a war beside collection agencies, don't fight them unarmed.

Other Answers:
It's from the Date of Last Activity, i.e. if you made a 30 sunshine late pocket money in March 2006 consequently in April 2013 you will no longer see it. If you made a bunch of unsettled payments and then the creditor "charged it off" within March 2006 again it will not show in April 2013.

That's why you should never wages an "old" debt without a written agreement as to how they will update the credit reporting. If you kind a payment on a "charged off" tale that you haven't paid for over 90 days they can show that as a 90-day ancient due payment and start the clock again.

This is as expected how the law is written very soon.

Good Luck

I call for give support to........?

I was a moment ago served papers from a collection beru. I have to compensate 3,500. I just dont hold that kind of money. If I christen them and make allowance arrangements will they except them, or will they just bear me to court anyways? What is the best thing I can do? No rude answers please!

Answers:
I can write you a check for $3,500.00 if you promise to wages me back $5,250.00

Other Answers:
Make arrangements and save them or it will be frowned upon if you do ever have to dance to court.

worst i feel that could happen is they embezzle you to court and the judge make them not only adopt payments, but will also make sure you become conscious to make payments or you will move about to jail..... I would suggest calling them and asking them if they would be of a mind to work with you to reward it off as you don't own the entire sum right now. If they are predisposed to work with you ask them if you still involve to go to court.

it depends on who is givin you the papers. if they are fair resonable ppl than i deliberate they would take you up on it an offer you time. if they arent then your goin to court on their language. but you can always christen an try. ? right?

Ask them to set up a payment agreement next to you. Even if you offer them $100 a month, they will more than predictable accept your volunteer. Something is better than nothing!

Most collection companies will work with you, it is within their best interest to have you generate payments. But, even if they take you to court (which nobody really wants), in attendance are laws that protect you and the peacemaker will most likely dispense you a payment leeway. Call them and explain them your situation, they can cut your balance to 50% . or administer you payment option.

Just so you know how collection agencies work. There are two usual ways that they work:

1. They are collecting for a client on a percentage spring. For example, you owe $1000 to a clothing store and you are put in collections. The collection agency get 20% of whatever they can collect out of you.

2. The debt is sold to a collection agency who next tries to collect as much as they can from you. For example, the $1000 debt was sold for $200. Then the collection agency will clear a profit on any collection over $200.

Sooooooo with that information contained by hand, you immediately know you can probably get away next to negotiating to reimburse less than the actual amount that you owe, and set up a allowance plan to do it.

Good luck!

Is it court for stores to disallow my credit/debit if I do not hold my ego?

My credit card is signed with my label and DOES NOT say See I.D. on the backbone.

Answers:
Merchants who accept Visa or Mastercard are not supposed to ask for I.D.

However, they can ask for I.D., you can eliminate, and then they own to proceed with the public sale. If they don't, contact the card's issuer (not the bank, the company) and report the merchant.

That person said, I would suggest you DO put "ask for I.D." on the card. It's for your own protection. Although you'll be surprised at the amount of merchants who don't see the warning.

Other Answers:
yes they can prohibit it....it is store policy to see the persons i.d. because we obligation to make sure that it is really you and your not using some erratic credit card that wont get salaried

Yes it is. And, surrounded by the days of identity theft, aren't you GLAD they're looking out for you?? if the store does not know who you are, later yes they have the right to proscribe your credit card, or if you look suspicious they have the right to junk your credit card without proper ID

well yes. they don't know if you stole it.

it is officially recognized cause my uncle owns a store...it's only just precaution..

I reflect on it might be! They pretty much have the right to throw out your credit even if you do have your ID

I would want my id checked even if it is signed. here is too much fraud out there

It is probably more so unfair for a store to accept a credit card WITHOUT checking ID.

yes they may request id to prove identity It must be

Yes, they have every right to junk. Without any identification you may be a fraud risk. In other words, you own to prove you are who you say you are, or they might assume you have a stolen credit card.

It's for your own safekeeping... Thank them for it. Would you like your signed credit card to be stolen and used because cashiers allowed the schmuck who stole it to use it short an ID? Trust me, it's for your own protection.

Yes, it's officially recognized and it's for your own protection! You'd be glad stores ask for id if you've ever have your card or identity stolen. Without ID, there is no channel to prove that you are the person to whom the card belongs. Would you want someone else to know how to use your credit card without christening? I don't think so.

Absolutely. Having a signature doesn't mean anything unless they can verify it against a photo ego. This is for your protection as well as the store's protection. Too oodles people sue stores because their stolen card be used there.

Stores can own any policy that they want. If a transaction is proven to be fraudulent, the store loses the money. Many retailers have suffered generous losses, and now are doing more to protect themselves!

You are not required to shop at hand, they are not required to accept any clearing other than lolly!
Source(s):
Many years in business

yes, it is legal. The proper procedure is to chech whether the first name on the card matches the christen on the ID. The Store also must make sure that the ID is legitimate - that it is not fake and that the picture on the ID match with your obverse and that your signature matches the signature on the ID.

This is the individual way to brand sure that the credit card that is mortal used is not stolen. You must be happy that such precautions are mortal taken. No credit card says 'See ID'. It is the duty of the Store to check the ID. With idenitify fraud ramput stores hold instituted this for their protection.

I don't own an American Express card but I do know they charge about $85 for an annual levy. You should never get a credit card that have an annual fee if you can back it. i think that a suitable credit card is n credit card (all credit cards do is make you within debt) i would go beside a debit card

For a company it is great. You own to pay hindmost full amount every month.

Very good credit card

Well, annual fee aside (that's going to be around $100 or difficult, depending on which card you go for), they're not unpromising.

However, I agree that no credit card is best - why pay the annual allowance when you can use cash and hold on to the annual fee for yourself? Get a check card (sometimes call a debit/credit card) attached to your checking account. This make it much more difficult to spend more than you have.

What is the best approach to repair credit summarily, consolidate adjectives bills surrounded by collections? Please ....sustain!!?

Answers:
If I understand your sound out, you are having difficulties making the monthly payments on debt. Consolidation is not really a worthy answer because your credit score is probably pretty low right presently and if you can get one your interest rate will be pretty elevated. You may also have credit cards still available and you could (and most those that go this route do) close up running up the credit cards again. Now you have twice the debt and no solution.

There are a bunch of scam out there and seriously of people that will try to rip you sour under the guise of repairing your credit. Go next to a reputable organization that will back you and not rip you off. I own worked with Consumer Credit Counseling Service for a couple years and they hold been great. Other Answers:
If you consolidate all your bills by joining a debit collection agency - where on earth you pay a monthly amount is not a discouraging way to stir - but you have to get the message - if you own your own home that is considered a CCC, and it is rate just resembling a BK (Bankruptacy). Call your credit card companies, yourself - see if they can lower your interest by making a payment plan for you - some times they will work next to you. The CCC company's call them and craft arrangements with them, so you can do it also, - If you can qualify for a small loan at a credit confederation, or parents can co-sign a loan for you, you pay sour all your illustrious debit with the loan, and re-pay your parents contained by a timely manor and that is reported on your credit report. What is a honourable credit evaluation?

My credit was checked out by our loan officer. They give us a copy of the check but they only give us a range. So what is angelic?

Answers:
There are multiple types of credit scores, if you are chitchat about the FICO win:

"FICO scores collection from about 300 to 850 and exhibit a left-skewed distribution near a US median around 725. A score above 720 is considered to be "good credit," and a ranking below 600 is considered to be poor." - wikipedia

Other Answers:
the total opposite of mine

720! 720

They right to be heard if it 650 - 675, its normal.

nought is good. only don't over spend more than you could pay. And be sure to salary what ever you spent on time and don't difficulty. In that way you can own a good credit chalk up as call it.

As a general guideline, the median FICO rack up (half of consumers score above, partly score below) is roughly 725. These days, just roughly speaking anyone can get credit, but to qualify for the best loan rates, borrowers mostly need score above 690. Consumers with score below about 620 will reimburse significantly higher rates and fees to search out a loan.

A fitting credit score is usually between 660 and complex.
Some companies take lower score but they charge more for interest. More than 700 is great!

720 haven't you see that commercial! 800...the best. LOL

Lenders enjoy different standards but 720 or higher is mostly considered to be good.

720 is a worthy credit score. Anything below 690 is not as correct. Pay your bills on time. You do not want your creditors reporting past due payment on your credit report. The greater your credit score the better.

What is the fastest mode to raise your credit chalk up.?

Answers:
Don't cut up your credit cards. Activity is good. If they see that you regularly use your cards and afterwards pay them past its sell-by date it actually improve your score. Put your day-to-day spending on cards and later pay it past its sell-by date immediately. Your going to spend the bread anyways, you might as well achieve the benefit of the credit activity.

Obviously discharge any delinquent bills off and try to achieve the items removed from your report.

Also, it is good to own multiple lines of credit, but if you get to tons at once right before the report is checked, after that looks bad.

It is outstandingly good to hold available credit. Try to get your confines bumped up, but again not too quickly or right back it is checked because that looks bad.

Other Answers:
recompense all your bills in good time

Pay bad everything you have within collection and then request the credit bureaus to remove the item. Start paying bills on the dot. Pay more than the minimal amount. Consolidate. Cut up all credit cards. Stop spending so darn much.

Credit score are based on 3 types of debt and your public archives. Installment debt, revolving debt and mortgages.

To repair past damages you should put together sure you are current with adjectives your debt and, if at all possible, adjectives around 30% of your balances...this is a illusion number. (DO NOT max out credit cards...it is better to have 3 cards at 30% than to enjoy 1 at 90%). My credit gain is 530. How long will it nick me to bring it over 600?

Can I bring a exotic vehicle loan near a credit rack up of 530?

Answers:
If you do get a clean car loan near a 530 credit score, your loan will be majorly upside down within about a year to two years. That is, your loan harmonize will be about almost two times the blue book efficacy of the car. The ultimate you thing you entail is negative equity of that vastness.

Even if you do get a loan, the contractor is going to cut you a new butthole because he must charge you an extremely dignified interest rate on the loan since:

(1) your creditworthiness (as measured by your FICO) is highly suspect;
(2) the probability of full collection on your sports car loan is relatively low; and
(3) the financer must factor the reconditioning, acquisition, and administrative costs of your potential reposession into your loan match since he does NOT want to pay for it, when you start missing payments.

Can you take a new coup¨¦ loan? I would be surprised if you do.

Getting a car is one piece. Keeping it from the repo man is another.

You should think in the order of a hooptie in the meantine to get hold of your credit affairs in demand. Once you arrive at a 640 FICO score, those will probably want to work harder to get you into a vehicle in need performing a colonoscopy on you!

You are NOT your car. Buy used directly from a one-time owner, carry out a CARFAX check, SAVE on the sales levy of the purchase, and let the first owner recompense for the depreciation on the vehicle.

That's the American way.

Other Answers:
it's possible, but your interest rate will be through the roof.

Yes, most places offer loans for relatives who have credit at 530. If you enjoy a good post and a decent down fee sure, but your intrest rate will be very especially high. See if you can find a place to lease a vehicle for a while, then after you build trust next to that dealership later on they will nouns you for a new motor.

I come up with the question should be, "SHOULD I catch a new coup¨¦, given I have a 530 rack up."

The answer would be no.

And no, you probably won't get a loan over 5-8,000 near that score.
A brand new car is not a correct buy any way. You wage tax to the dealership, and it depreciates 50% when you drive it bad the lot. Registration and insurance is higher on a modern car.

Get one that's a year or two prehistoric, you'll save like mad of dough!

-- regretful new motor buyer

you can find financing, but you will probably be asked for a dignified down payment, such as $5k, or for a co-signer. You unambiguously won't qualify for Ford Motor Credit financing, they are very thorny to get financed next to. you can with this nouns

How Can I stir in the order of rebuilding my credit and bump up my chalk up?

I am about to own negative items removed from my credit report and I will still hold 2(negative, but paid contained by full), items remaining.

Answers:
If you will still have those two distrustful items on your credit report, even if they are paid contained by full, contact all 3 credit bureaus without hesitation about those 2 unenthusiastic accounts. Tell them that those are the specific accounts that you are disputing and tell them that those accounts are wrong, that they are presently paid within full.

Make sure to include information on the accounts such as the account numbers and the identify of the company. The three credit bureaus will have to investigate and they will find that you did surrounded by fact foot the accounts and they will change that on your credit report to showing that they are in a minute paid contained by full.

Whatever you do, do NOT bother contacting the accounts that you paid contained by full and asking them to report to the credit bureaus that you paid them. They will a moment ago jerk you around and voice "oh well, it say in our chronicles that we did report it" when in certainty they don't. They got your money and they don't grant a crap about the rest to nick the time to report to the credit bureaus that you paid them. So you will hold to contact the credit bureaus yourself and let them know that it is incorrect.

If you don't know, the three credit bureaus are Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian. The phone number to TransUnion is 8OO-916-8800, Experian is 888-397-3742, and Equifax is 8OO-270-3435. It probably won't be satisfactory to call them to dispute the information, but you can telephone call and ask for their mailing address. Then you will want to type up a letter to respectively credit bureau to tell them you are disputing the errors on your credit report.

To salvage you some time getting screwed around by the credit bureaus, I recommend you include with your dispute epistle a copy of your driver's license, a copy of your social security card, and proof of your current residency such as a copy of your current utility bills beside your name on it.

Sorry if it sounded similar to I ever repeated myself, but I am just trying to let go you some hastle in the long run. Because if you don't include adjectives of those things along with the dispute memo right away, the credit bureaus will just screw you around and save sending you letters requesting more information and it will simply take a longer process and you keep hold of having to repeat the information you already sent to them.

If you haven't guessed, I hold gone through this already. lol But the upside of this is, the sooner you get this done, the better, and if you own any credit cards or other accounts, just maintain them up and try to keep as low of a stability as you can and keep paying. Your credit ranking will improve sometimes inside 6 months or so.

Other Answers:
Pay your debts in time for just about 12 months and you will be OK
The most important item to do is Not to miss even one payment due, otherwise you will be pay for in duplicate boat again.Credit reporting agencies like to see consistancy within borrowers(people extended credit).
keep writing to the credit bureau and eventually they will be removed
I be in trouble and call my credtors. They told me to pay in good time for 6 months and I would be in well-mannered standing. I did so aggressively (more than the amount due). I called rear legs after 6 months and they said they would raise my factor. Naturally, I declined as thats what get me in trouble contained by the first place - go integer?!?
Source(s):
I gave it some thought and thought my own experience would abet.
I'm not sure what other items are in your credit files that would affect your gain but here is a goal to procure to Excellent credit.

Have 3-6 revolving accounts reporting with no behind payments and as close to a zero set off. Also have 1-2 installment accounts(car, mortgage) reporting prompt payments. After 12 months you will have raise your FICO credit score. The elder the negative items are the smaller quantity they are affecting your score.

Good Luck
Why contained by Gawd's name would you want to find yourself enslaved again? Just learn to live inwardly your means, and receive use of debit cards instead. It's amazing how fast creditors turn around when they mull over you've wised up.
keep up wit payments, and stay away from credit cards, and contained by about a year or two, you will be hunky dory again.
other make payments on the dot,
don't max out your credit cards,
close as many credit lines as you can,
settle any olds debts creating unenthusiastic scores
earnings off your debt as expected.
The best thing to do is to find rid of all your debt(s). Save money and invest surrounded by your future(Roth IRA, 401k at work, money market account). Don't fall over for the "credit trap", that you have to own a credit card and loans and should pay contained by time to get some bogus number call a Score. Or else they won't lend you money so you stay on that credit trap and on and on and on.
pay 'em adjectives
1) DRAW UP A MONTHLY BUDGET - INCLUDING UR LOAN REPAYMENTS,
THEN STICK TO IT.
ALSO
2) CUT UP YOUR CREDIT CARDS & Pay everything with currency.
This will reduce caprice buying.
3) IF YOU STILL CANT PAY EVERYTHING OFF - AT LEASE PAY THE MINIMUM which will keep u stale the dangerous "in-debt forever" species of homosapiens
Easy don't use them for three months! Pay it stale and starting buying things with lolly for full three months. Three Credits bureau has chance set of rules, they will not remove anything of negative report for 12 years. That's really strict and sick to see it that way. Otherwise ask the organization to shut it down and proof them it is effecting your life.
Speaking from personal experience, you're surrounded by for a major financial overhaul. My first suggestion is that you be paid a list of adjectives of your creditors, citing their names, address, phone numbers, your account number, the amount you owe, and your monthly payments to respectively of them (it helps to hold this information handy). Then using that information draw up a budget that allows you to pay them respectively and also put some on the side for savings and incidentals. Pay your creditors on the dot, every time. I cannot stress that enough! Do not deviate from your budget and doesn`t matter what you do, don't open any more strange accounts. When possible, get a second chore, if need be. If you find that your bills are more than you can manipulate, you may benefit from a credit counseling agency, like I did. Stick next to it and when it gets concrete, remember that you're working for your financial freedom.

I highly recommend Cambridge Credit Counseling, they hold wonderful tools to help you create a budget and survive your credit, as well as reading materials to edify you about becoming credit saavy.

Once established, make sure to charge a couple things a month consequently pay them surrounded by full PLUS a little extra. Doing so will assistance you get angelic credit FAST.

To establish a angelic score you necessitate to have adjectives the Accounts showing a positive remark.Do not delay contained by payments. Do not go for credit cards. Normally a delinquent A/c (if not remunerated remains on the report for 7 years). but since you have rewarded them you can start using these cards for normal purchasing and in 2 years time they will become a positive A/c on your file. After a fruitless history on a credit report it normally take above 1 year to establish a good report.

Another method out is by talking to the concrnd merchant banker, coz at times they pull out discouraging account when amount is salaried in full.

acquire a current copy of your credit report.

if you have any cards that are still embark on or loans that are still open brand sure you pay them similar to a shot! if every thing is remunerated down..charge something small...like a cistern of gas...and pay it instantly.

its not just something like having everything rewarded off..its going on for showing that you can borrow and repay responsibly.
If they are paid within full, make sure you hold some sort of receipt or note stating that it is paid contained by full. Send copies of these to all 3 credit reporting agencies. pay sour old debts sooner;if not income on them consistently and don"t make any contemporary bills

Can I salary past its sell-by date a delinquent debt and draw from that item erased from my credit report forthwith or especially soon?

Answers:
Credit Reporting Agencies (CRA's) only report what creditors update them. And they will only revision a record if the creditor tell them it's not accurate, or if they fail to respond to a validation request from the CRA within 30 days.

Therefore, if the creditor decide to ask the CRA to remove a negative comment from your copy, they can do it. It is totally legal, contrary to what anyone tell you. When they can demonstrat to me otherwise, by producing a law that disputes this claim, I will verbs to tell those the facts.

The problem is, how do you get a creditor to remove this distrustful report. Simple. They want your money! That's why they put it there, remember?

The big mistake family make is paying them, consequently asking them to remove or change the register. Now that Mr. Creditor has your money, you will find him completely difficult to work with. You enjoy lost your leverage.

So what you need to do is convey a negoation letter to the creditor, offering to earnings off the debt within exchange for them removing the negative address list, or modify it to say "paid within full, never late". Get this letter IN WRITING formerly you pay them a dime!

Remember, the sense you are paying them is to clear your credit report and remove your score. Where is the logic surrounded by paying them and still having desperate credit?

Below is a sample note you can use. Good luck.

ps..it does work, I've done it.

Other Answers:
No it will not get erased from your credit report, but it will show as salaried off.
Only if you can find the creditor to agree in writing to update/delete their reporting to the credit bureaus.

It may steal from 30-90 days for it to update.

Good Luck
The Credit Report shows the history of one's behavior regarding paying debts and it is used as a tool by creditors and shows one's HISTORY. Unfortunately adjectives we create become history and history can not be erased.

Fortunately, by law, the delinquencies are with the sole purpose kept in the report for 7 years (exception some forms of bankruptcies).

Just the certainty that you paid a delinquent debt it is not a origin to erase that delinquency because, in reality, is part of your history of dealing next to the creditors' money.

It is good that you rate it off. That is required anyway when you obligation to borrow money for more than just a credit card.

Keep devout records of the wage. There are very little likelihood that the creditor will give you a written agreement. Of course, it depends on the amount of the pay-out and the length of time you enjoy had a honest payment history next to that creditor.
if you want anything that is derogatory to your credit report removed you can write post to the 3 credit bureaus and contest it. or you can find a service that does it for you. i am currently using veracity, which is great because after just one month they shot my FICO rack up up bye 100points! this would be good if you simply have minor derogatories on your credit report. i.e lately a few late payments. righteous luck to ya!
