Credit Questions and Answers

Credit card press? please HELP!!?

Question:
yesterday I received a credit card that i applied for not only did i receive the card I received my first bill for $50 due within two weeks...I called the company to spark off the card and i was told that it's best to salary the $50 NOW to help my credit the representative even asked me for a post dated check but she said it would cost $8.95 to process so I refuse then she said i'm messing up my credit. is this true? is it to behind schedule to cancel this card since I activate it?

Answer:
Cancel that card. It sounds like this company is a scammer, you should G00GLE ripoffreports.com and see if they are timetabled.

A credit card company will always report you up front what any fees or charges to open the narrative are (it is the law and legal companies have ample business so they don't have to 'fool' family and hide their charges).

Don't speak next to anyone in being anymore. Email the company and write letters. Keep copies of everything and cause notes of any conversations you enjoy that they initiate. Get names and date and times.

Don't give this company access to your ridge account or, if you hold already, drain that account and close it and notify the card company that you hold done so. You may have to income the $50 for opening the details before you can close the details or it might go on your credit report.

But, you are not messing up your credit. As long as you payment at least the minimum expenditure due by the due dates your credit will not be harmed. Paying the full set off every month is the best. Nobody gets a better credit gain for paying early any.

I have never, within my life, hear of a legitimate company asking for a post dated check. Ever.
Your better bad canceling it. The credit card company should not have giving you a bill for $50 for no object, especially since you just get the card.
If you really read the fine prints in the application, it must enjoy said somewhere about some gentle of fee (annual payment, activation fee, ...) Don't verbs. Cancel it NOW. Don't pay attention to the desolate threat they made. Cancel it now although you activate the card, get the rep's label, document the conversation. When you get the bill, cross it out, write "Cancelled, card never used", include the card adjectives cut up in the envelope and transport it back. The major thing is that you should never use the card even once.
ALWAYS try to work next to a credit card company first. Talking to the right people, and habitually times a lot of empire, will get you suitable results. Remember these companies control your credit score, so you inevitability to play by their rules. *That is NOT to say they are other right!! Just be sure you don't harm your evaluation by not paying etc...

First, what is this $50 charge for? It sounds like it would be some sort of activation levy, or annual fee. (annual fees are usually remunerated AFTER the year you've used the card, however) If so, then read the fine print and you'll see that you do contained by fact want to pay that.

If it's a charge that you didn't authorize, look into the charge and be sure you're not a casualty of fraud of some sort.

I've never heard of a company charging you to use a check. UNLESS, its a check over the phone. But a quality newspaper check wouldn't have a charge - at lowest none i've ever seen.

Bellsouth (Garnished Wages)?

Question:
I am a full-time college student. I have a unpaid job, but one and only make plenty for things like books, tuition, and daylight to day living. I have a phone turned off near bellsouth back within august. When I got the concluding bill 2 months later it be pretty high (way highly developed than expected) for me. I'm in the process of getting a better work where I can create a little more money to thieve care of things; but today I received a ring from some law firm unfolding me that they have my place of employment & if I don't pay packet the total in 2 weeks, they will clutch measures to garnish my wages. 1. I put contained by a 2-week notice at my charge last week, which make my last afternoon next thursday. 2. I will be at a situation training in another state for 8 weeks, which will allow me to know how to pay it rotten in the subsequent 2 months. I can't have the money within the next two weeks, but I be wondering if I paid something on it this week and subsequent week before I give up your job, could they still do anything long as I am making an effort to reimburse?

Answer:
From what I have experienced next to bill collectors (cingular) you should be able to work out money plans. It seems precipitate for them to even consider garnishing wages. They may be trying to scare you. Call and set aside to make payoff arrangments starting with a expense this month and then doesn`t matter what you can do. Get the agreement faxed to you so you have proof up to that time you give them any money or guard account numbers.
as I take to mean it, if you "make an agreement" next to them to pay a persuaded amount (the amount they agree to) then they may or may not frills your wages depending on their mood for that day. Why not give an account them what you can pay them and see if they will work near you. Cause you already know you can't get another phone till you rate that off. If you hold a dispute with infallible calls on your bill next make that set. I don't know these days if a utility bill will show up on your credit report...it may. And next it's hard to seize that off wreak it will stay there 7 years. So beckon that lawyer and form a plan.
They have a long channel to go past they could actually attach your wages. There wants to be a court judgement in place and that resources a lot more cost to them for file fees and court costs. I think they are within the stage where they are merely trying to scare you into paying. Call em up, update em what you can do as far as paying what you owe and they should agree to it. In fact ask them just about a settlement amount that would be less than the total that you owe. Chances are this is a collection agency who purchased your be a foil for for about 50 cents on the dollar so you might be capable of negotiate a settlement.
They can garnish your paychecks, but first they enjoy to go to court to do it. They hold to have a shrewdness to do it. Depending on what state you are in and what city you are contained by it could probably take a while up to that time they could even get a court date. By consequently you will probably have plenty money to pay it anyways.
Utilities do not frills your wages. They threaten you with that to try to go and get you to pay the full amount.

You can work out donation arrangements with them, but trademark it on your terms.
I'm beside OG on this one...

Best case is if they file today, they have to find you (few days) to serve you beside papers...wait for court date (another month). Depending on the state you live contained by, they must wait another month formerly they can get a garnishment from the court. So you are 2-3 months away, if you can skulk that long. But unfortunately you will hold a judgment on your library.

Keep in mind that the party who called you is most imagined a collection agent and not a lawyer. Many times they don't sue for amounts smaller amount then $500 so unless you enjoy a huge bill they are most likely bluffing.

Is it true that when you attain married, your credit gain merges beside your spouse?

Question:
I just looked-for to make sure that it be indeed true.

Answer:
No. Credit reporting agencies maintain a separate record on each soul. BUT: when you apply for a loan, if you are both on the loan application they will look at both scores. You can apply for a loan within your name solitary, but then can simply list your income, not your spouse's. Also it CAN product a difference on the application whose name you chronicle first. We were competent to get a slightly better interest rate by register my name first when buying a vehicle.
it's not true at adjectives. The only entry that will affect you would be joint accounts of any sort. If you don't enjoy that, you will have separate credit mark.
It never has next to us after 39 years.
No they don't "merge" or average out. If you both apply for a loan the lender will take the lower evaluation.
In certain cases yes. unanimously tho it doesn't help surrounded by certain cases as most credit is looking for black results. creditors do not want to take likelihood if they can avoid it. if you apply for a loan together with someone else, while your low credit ranking may be offset by their sophisticated score, not adjectives creditors are willing to "average" it and administer you the loan (though many will)

largely they're more willing to if you hold low credit and are trying to start out than if you have no credit, a loan failure to pay or bankruptcy on account.
You keep your own individual.
It does not. The lone things which will be merged are any joint accounts or any accounts which have the one of you listed as a co-signer for the other one.
This is not true at adjectives. Your credit score is determined by the credit you own as an individual. Joint accounts contribute to your score (positively and negatively depending on the information status).

If you want to find out more about credit scoring I suggest that you drop by Consumer Advocate Clark Howard's website. He explains credit scoring in jammy to understand language.
How could it? The credit bureaus don't know your married until you purchase something on credit together with both of your signatures.

Am I going to Jail? Tampa, Florida?

Question:
I'm scared. I'm 21 and I'm surrounded by debt about $4,000.

Now, I enjoy a Credit Card with HSBC and I'm really overdue because post situation but now I enjoy been competent to pay close to $20 a month (the min. payment is $ 135) for this month.

I lately got a memorandum from them saying if I don't rate this, it will go to collections and they will pursue this crust to get the collection of this narrative.

I'm scared, I don't want to shift to jail for a credit card. What are the law and stuff and what can they do to me? It's not like I'm NOT paying at adjectives, I'm giving what I can. Please help me.

Answer:
Well at least possible you got to purchase a bunch of stuff you couldn't afford.
You won't stir to jail for this. However, they could sue you surrounded by civil court for the money. If they do this they could get an demand to garnish your wages.

The collection agencies will tend to play hardball near you but they can not threaten you with schedule they can not take. If they ever do threaten you near jail you hold action you can run to sue them for harrasement.

I would get hold of a credit counsling agency, as they can assistance you work with the credit card companies and return with yourself back on track.
don't verbs abou this.

you will not go to send to prison for debt.

We did away with debtor prisons centuries ago.

One piece you have to do is contact HSBC, or a consumer credit counseling agency, to formulate arrangement for repayment. The interest is eating you alive, and you will never pay cheque off the debt.

Right in a minute, HSBC is assuming you are a flake with no intentions of paying past its sell-by date the debt. If you contact them and let them know in the region of your situation, or work through a consumer agency, HSBC will waive late fees, and penalty, bring the interest down to 3 or maybe within 0%, and work out a payment plan. Part of the condition is that you cannot use the credit card, nor should you enlarge any new credit accounts.
Call Consumer Credit Counseling. They will work beside your debitors and it doesn't have one and the same effect as filing ruin. I used them to get out of debt and go and get my credit back on track and it be successfull. It will make your creditors stop calling. However, you will no know how to open tentative accounts with them for a while and it freezes any accounts you place into your repayment program.

http://www.nfcc.org/
http://www.consumercredit.com/
first past its sell-by date you will not go to jailbut your credit will be undermined even if you pay them $1 a month your at lowest trying to pay them something look contained by your agreement and see if you have protection if you lose your post most credit cards have this type of protection perfect luck :)
You will not go to put in prison. Since the amount of the debt is so high though they will most predictable take you to court and achieve a judgment from the courts. They will trimmings your paycheck and get into any dune accounts you may have. They don't perfectionism that you are paying $20 a month they want the money that is due. The simply way out is to settle up the $135 due.

Wal-Mart Credit Card?

Question:
i have returned an item that costed 400 dollars for a repayment on monday at walmart.i checked my current account and it say that the 400 is still in my current stability...so i called the hill and asked them whats up and they said u have to hang around 5 days from the day u have the refund...i be wondering is it even normal to skulk that long for the money to go backbone into my unused credit?

Answer:
yep 100% normal dont verbs about it it will come rotten with no problem I do it adjectives the time lol...then hold fun spending the 400.00 again :)
It is normal for the credit not to reappear on like peas in a pod day. Five business days is wearing clothes. The waiting period vary by credit card company.
They probably have an average of 2-5 days. Most credit card companies do. They told you the longest of waiting period. I'd keep checking - hopefully it will show up sooner.

What are my probability of getting a home equity column of credit?

Question:
Own a house appraised @ 56k, want to take 30k out at the most. Fico is more or less 631 but I've switched jobs 3 times inside the past year. Income is lower than 30k yearly (full time student).

Answer:
It depends on your other debts. If you enjoy none, then you own a good break of getting a loan, though it will probably be smaller than 30k.
It also depends on how much you owe on the first loan.
30K is too much to take on a house worth 56K. You did not vote how much your mortgage was. Depending how much equity you hold, you get to borrow a % of that.
Fico is a bit low & your income & duty hx can hurt you.
Try and get a quote from an online broker. Just stay away from the ones that run credit checks within order to endow with you your quotes. I usually recommend the website below

how can i dispute an reason within collections explicitly really mines?

Question:
i want to dispute an account to be exact in collections i.e. actually my details and i've made payments on. how can i do this? can i get surrounded by trouble for disputing that i never had the information if i really did?

Answer:
You can dispute it. That is a fact. However, it will do you no honest. If the account is yours, it will filch the credit bureau very little time to correlate the explanation as yours. It is a waste of time.

Not to be cruel, but you are better sour spending your time focusing on earning more income to recompense your debts than trying to beat the system.

Best of luck.
you could be charged beside telling lies or fraud.
Own up to it and settle up it off. Thats the best channel.
Good luck
I would recommend against it. If you dispute it, and the collection has not be previously been salaried in full, you will remind the company of your debt and re-enforce their thinking that you are not going to finish paying. (The bureau have to verify the debt and will be contacting the creditor about it.) They could lapse up listing the narrative as a charge-off (which is worse) or take you to court. Either mode (you paid or didn't foot in full), the collection will hurt your gain slightly if you dispute it, because their report date (not the opened date) on the picture will be updated with the date they answer the bureau. It won't affect the date the collection comes past its sell-by date your report, but it will make the debt look more recent than it is. (Newer accounts hurt your gain more than past accounts since they want to see the most recent pursuit.)

Question just about reciprocated next to right of survivorship.?

Question:
My friend is going to be 18 next month and she said that she would cosign for a debit card. I am currently 17. The debit card I want to obtain either requires you to be 18 or a shared account beside right of survivorship in which the debit card have to be in the person's mark who is 18 and the other person signs. My cross-examine is will the joint next to right of survivorship work out considering that she is 18 and I am 17?

one other detail: you only enjoy to be 17 to own your own checking account at my guard.

Answer:
The simple Answer is yes it should work. If you want to give your friend access to adjectives your money. It becomes her money and you own the right to use it, but she can take you rotten the account anytime she requirements. I would be very chary.

Check out other Banks and Credit Unions, you may have better accounts for you.

Good luck
A mutual account money both of you are full owners of all money contained by the account. Either of you can repeal ALL the funds at any time. right of survivorship means if one of you dies, the other become sole owner of the account short it passing though the estate of the departed.

I'm trying to promote my credit gain and I only just now purchase my credit report. On my credit report I hold

Question:
an MBNA account that I have paid sour in 2000. Although I enjoy paid this amount rotten in 2000 it have the date of last leisure as 2003. I keep disputed it beside the credit reporting agency. I call MBNA they own no answers. They can't even give me the information. So how do I dispute this?

Answer:
Even though Summit doesn't exist, the purchasing Bank (Bank of America) should competent to service the account.

On an aside, MBNA is also very soon owned by B of A
If the credit reporting agency doesn't help...I don't know of much you can do except to lurk it out.
Maybe you're a victim of identity appropriation. Other than that, good luck. It seem like there's a million ways for your credit rack up to go down, and conceivably two ways for it to go up.

Basically, find some credit cards, buy a lot of stuff on them, and later pay them sour slowly...but pay them pay for on time. Don't call off them because your credit score will travel down. Also, everytime someone want to look at your credit score (say if you're buying a house or something) it will bring back dinged as well.

Again, honourable luck
i think you own to take your proof to the relatives whom you paid stale and get them to appropriate it of, send something to the credit populace or something like that its a b*tch is adjectives I know
Write to all three credit reporting agencies just about the error. Include your account number, and any information you may hold about the date of the payoff (e.g. check number, copy of your credit statement showing it was salaried, copies of the check they cashed when it was remunerated off, etc.) Ask these credit agencies to investigate, and to please correct the error. I own several friends who have gone through this brand of thing, next to favorable results.
If you have your check as proof that you rewarded the MBNA account surrounded by 2000, mail a front and spinal column photocopy of your check, and a letter, explaining that the bill is paid-in-full.
Send a registered note to each of the three credit agencies disputing this. It is their responsibility to verify that the information is correct. If they can't verify it in thirty days, it by law have to come off. Most predictable, they will find that either you be correct or they won't be able to verify it, within which case it will come bad your report.
fleet got bought out by guard of america.. and bank of america very soon partnered up with mbna..

What is full time?

Question:

Answer:
Are you talking going on for full-time status as student? or a full-time position for a JOB ?
Most often it is 40 hours a week. Some consider you full time if its a minimum of 35 hours a week, but pretty much everyone works 40! (five 8 hour days or 4 10's)
customarily 40 hrs a week. For some of us poor bastards it ranges from 50-60 hours a week in our office.
Full time would be whatever you assign a great amount of time to.

In the case of working within a job, I believe it is anytime you work over 32 hours (32 or smaller quantity would be part-time). When considering student status, it depends on the school but typically taking at lowest 12 undergraduate credit hours or 9 graduate credit hours.

It is possible to have more than one full-time position (e.g. work full-time and college full-time).
it rage from 36 to 40 hrs is full time
