Insurance Questions and Answers

I got into an accident and i had no insurance what`s the worst thing that can happen?

Answers: If the accident was your fault:

The other driver's insurance company will contact you. You need to confirm for them you did not have insurance. They will then settle with their driver/passengers under the uninsured motorist coverage. The insurance company will call you to set up a payment plan to pay them back for every thing they paid. They usually will accept 100 per month until the debt is paid in full - interest free. As long as you make your payments every month- things will be fine. However, if you stop making your payments:

Your drivers license and and will be revoked
You can be sued - resulting in a judgment that will last for 10 years - the insurance company can then get it extended. This can affect your ability to get credit, purchase property, inherit.
Your credit can be affected.
You can be turned over to a collections agency

Either way, you will probably incur fines/expenses with the state to get your license re-instated.
My husband was hit by a person with no insurance (insurance people, like myself, call them uninsured motorists) Our car was totaled and my husband had serious injuries. Of course, since the other driver had no insurance, we filed an uninsured motorist claim on our policy.

As far as what can happen to you, well, let's start off with:
You are going to have a mandatory court date. Depending on how much money you have (and I am assuming you probably don't have much since you don't have any insurance) you will probably be fined and may have to pay the damages that you did from the accident. Depending on the severity of the accident, you can be sued by both the insurance company and the person that you hit and depending on their injuries, you could be paying for a VERY VERY long time. If you have any assets, such as savings, equity in a home, etc. you can say Goodbye to that because it will be gone.

I hope you learned your lesson and choose to buy some insurance. Of course, the State will probably suspend your license and require that you carry and prove that you have insurance for 3 years. If you cancel at any time whatsoever, the State will get notice and then you will have your license suspended again.

Unless, of course, you have parents with lots of money to hire a big attorney to get you out of it. Which is what happened in our case.
Depending on several things:
1.) Whos fault was it?
2.) What state did it happen in?
3.) Were you ticketed?
4.) Was anybody hurt?
5.) Was the damage to both vehicles extensive?
For example, in Texas - if it was your fault and you were ticketed, you will lose your license, pay a yearly penalty and provide proof of auto insurance to the state yearly, pay a fine, possible community service - and then we get to the damage - which you are completely financially responsible for any and all repairs or the replacement of their vehicle if it's that bad, repair your own vehicle, and you are financially responsible for any medical expenses. Good Luck!
You have your wages garnished for the rest of your life, and all assets seized, until you pay for all damages. Your license gets revoked. The car gets impounded, and you do jail time.

That's the worst.

Answers: Nope, you would have to prove liability on the homeowner and you can't. You are on your own for this one and you will requirement to go underneath your auto policy.
I'm going to guess no, but the only means of access to find out for sure is to speak with the owner of the litter can and find out who is their insurance agent. I wouldn't expect them to be extremely pleased with it. Then telephone up that office and ask.

Good luck.
no. you would hold to claim this on your auto policy.
