Yup, call your insurer and update them you need a 'non-owners' policy. You'll be covered for liability on any borrowed vehicle you drive. It will also satisfy your state financial responsibility law.

Either your own insurance company as another poster said, or the rental agency. I make a clean breast I am in the US, but the rental agent usually sell that stuff over the counter here.
