Health insurance for college student?

I'm currently a full time college student at 19 years old and looking for affordable wearing clothes health insurance. I don't work right very soon either and am still paying sour a 2k dental bill with the money i have... (sigh)

any good plans? (im surrounded by southern california by the way)


Answers: Agents vary surrounded by their opinions. I come to pass to be a fan of Health Net, to some extent than Blue Cross for my younger clients. Blue Cross has great marketing beside their Tonic plans, but Health Net always beat them on benefits. I have some plans that my young-looking clients have be very merry with, that hold no deductibles for most of their care

Also, since dental is an issue, here are number of plans that do very resourcefully in So. Cal. I suggest research on-line, but buy from an agent who know the market and can backing.

Life insurance?

I need to bring life insurance but I own heard that you don't gain the policy on yourself but that your spouse is supposed to get one for you. What is the difference?


Answers: There is no difference. Someone is going to pay packet the premiums to get you covered, any you or your spouse. You will be subjected to medical exam and be asked some health question to find out what your rate is.

Well, you CAN receive a policy on yourself.

Whoever owns the policy, gets to pick who get the money. So, say your spouse is the owner of your policy. Then you grasp divorced. They STILL own your policy. Useful if you have minor children, because afterwards you can't change the beneficiary over to your up to date sweetie.

If you own a cross-question something like your insurance coverage, why don't you ask the agent that sold it to you?

I was Googling "undo my Aflac" and ended up here. I've be an independent STATE TESTED AND LICENSED agent almost 8 years and it confounds me that policyowners or curiosity seekers would rather ask elsewhere "out there" to some extent than right to the source for DOCUMENTABLE answers. Insurance companies and agents are licensed and regulated - THEREFORE ACCOUNTABLE! Please, open my eyes!


Answers: Hahahaha. Ask an insurance agent an actual ask?? Anyone can become an insurance agent. I used to work with a few. Its amazing how stupid they are. I imply, my 12 year old brother could be an agent. They telemarket...carry someone to sign a few docs and boom! They have a client. A few insurance agents I worked next to couldnt even speak english properly. What a joke. Youre better stale asking on runeye.coms than asking the agent that sold you the policy.
So true, So true! You know as an agent that everyone that sees the plus of this business, isn't cut out for it or like us agents know it take a lot of work and dedication. Therefore, the turnover rate is elevated. Most of the time the client can't locate them. In other words everyone in this business isn't for this business!

Asking your agent is a good theory. And frequently those of us on the site will refer people fund to their agent. But...being an agent yourself - you know that agents don't know every article.

And folks like one able to post a request for information anonymously. Maybe it's a question they enjoy asked the agent before and they want another view. And sometimes they feel it's not a quiz they want to bother their agent with. Maybe their agent is so full of himself - they are not comfortable asking him?

Sure...nearby are people that attain on the site and are not "insurance people". But there are rather a few who are and know what they are talking in the region of. MBRCATS is very knowlegable. Oklatom is particularly knowledgeable. Those are lately a few that come to the top of my head.

I've be a State Licensed and Tested claims adjuster for 12 years (I've been licensed within 2 states and know that the exams and process to get licensed is not hard) and unsurprisingly I've had my CE too (again - not hard). Being state licensed and tested is the MINIMUM standard for the situation. How about going a few steps further? Got your CLU? Got your CPCU - working on any?

I handle automobile and homeowners (property and casualty) claims. Last year alone, I compensated out over 2 million in claims. I'm a chronological president of the local claims association - I've completed my INS, AIC and in a different class will have my CPCU. Once that's done - I plan on working on my claims regulation. I'll spare you the rest of my resume- but suffice it to say --- when it comes to insurance claims - I know my stuff. I don't know every entry - but I know a whole heck of plentifully - this ain't my first rodeo.

There are other folks on this site who have be around a lot longer than I hold. The identify themselves under their answer and I can describe from their answers - they probably are who they say they are. You can describe the insurance people from the non-insurance ethnic group.

Since your an agent - why did you G00GLE "cancel my Aflac" - seem to me you should have a number for Aflac and only been competent to call the directly and find out what to do? You considered necessary to check with the internet to some extent than just speaking to Aflac directly?

So.since you are state licensed and tested..how nearly you join the answers community and backing people get the drift the complex world of insurance a little bit better- a bit than knock the people who come here next to questions and the populace who spend their free time answering them.
Well, many family like a 2nd view, & 3rd & 4th too. Many people do not similar to to hear what their agents have to voice. Some people dance for cheap & are mad when they are not covered. Many relatives don't have agents, they buy online & again wonder why they are not properly covered. Many general public let their insurance lapse & afterwards have uninsured claims & wonder what to do.
There are also bleak agents out there, in that are mediocre agents & there are correct agents. I would think most race with right agents don't need to ask question here.
I am the best agent I can be for my insureds. I have be in this business for 19+ yrs and I can transmit you, I learn something trial all the time. If they own a question that I do not know the answer to, I read the forms, I ask my supervisor, I read the FC&S bulletines. It is a continuous study process (even my supervisor who has roughly 30 yrs in the business, surrounded by the last month or so, academic a few new things). Continuing teaching is good & I am glad every state presently requires it but it can't cover everything, the everyday coverage issues that arise.
Why don't you answer some questions here? It is fun to share your fluency & to help general public. That is the reason we get into this business in the first place, isn't it?
Edit - I be just thinking roughly it. I would much rather one of my insureds come here for a second belief, since there are some hugely knowledgable people here, afterwards to go to a friend or neighbor that have absolutely NO clue roughly insurance.
I agree that sometimes the people on runeye.com hold no idea what they're chitchat about. However, at hand are also a lot of relations on runeye.com who do have a great amount of experience contained by the field and can answer frequent of their questions. It's easier to log onto the internet and own an answer in 5 minutes than it is to phone up your agent sometimes. Not to mention, we won't try to SELL them anything else just because they enjoy a question.

Yeah, and not to mention partly the time the agents have to contact the insurance company to find out the answer anyway. I'm an Underwriter at a natural life insurance company and answer PLENTY of questions that agents should know the answer to already.

And... although I dream up there are plentifully of GOOD agents out there... it's true that ANYONE can become an agent.
Here are some reason:

1. They don't have an agent. They focus they're going to get a better concordat themselves, or buy over the internet.

2. They don't trust their agent. They either don't enjoy faith that their agent is relating the truth, or they don't have dependence that the agent knows what they are conversation about.

3. They don't want to alert their agent to a potential problem.

4. They own a question outside regular business hours, and don't want to lurk for an answer. Or worse, they called their agent two days ago, and haven't gotten a return phone beckon.

5. They've asked their agent, and the agent said, "I don't know" and didn't offer to find out for them (fire the agent!!)

So those are some reason.
Soo...now, if we could run adjectives of the KNOTHEADS off that answer question JUST to see their name surrounded by print...this site might actually be WORTH more!

Like most hold already said, there are profusely of folks that ask the same question over and over - young just now licensed drivers that don't have an agent and don't want to ask their parents, folks that enjoy been to the 1-800 companies and one and only have a salesperson (I suspend to call THEM agents...) - and afterwards there's US guys and gals that spend our spare time answering the consumer and trying to help them get the message the idiosyncrasies of this complex business...

so, why not amalgamate in?
Many society don't have an agent, lost contact near their agent, or don't trust their agent. They may also realize there is a difference between someone whose sole qualification is getting a 70% on a multiple choice question paper several years ago and someone who actually have a passion and compassionate of the business.

For company-specific questions, you may discern we do commonly point them back to their agent or company's customer service department.
