Can I work as an insurance agent for an ageny surrounded by WA if I enjoy bleak credit?
I have a great surroundings in sale and management, and I want to break into the business of selling insurance. I would resembling to eventually become and independent agent, but for now want to gain experience working for an agency resembling Allstate or Farmers, etc. I have an interview next to an agency next week, but I'm getting worried. Do they do credit checks on you? Will they hire someone near terrible credit? I have a serious surgery in 2002, and own been astern on bills for a very long time. Please pass me some advice so that I don't embarrass myself and leftovers my time trying to get into this area if it is impossible to with doomed to failure credit. As an agent, you enjoy a fiduciary responsibility to your clients and to the insurance companies that you represent. If your credit is bad adequate, the company will not appoint you.
If you want to eventually be an independant agent, the best experience would be to work for another independant. Exclusive agents work much differently than independants eventhough the policies they sell are similar.

I work within an independant insurance agency, and when I was hired they did not do a credit check. Out of the 9 companies we are appointed beside only one checked my credit and surroundings. I had dismal credit, and I still got appointed, so more than potential you will be fine.
The biggest thing they are looking for is a company file bankruptcy, or some other decriminalized ramifications of doing financial impair to your clients.

Answers: Sure, just go to the texas insurance department website, agent and producer licensing section, buy the study materials, and take and pass the test. Voila, you're an agent.
THEN you have to find a company willing to let you sell their insurance. THAT is the hard part.

I am a new real estate agent and I had to take classes , pass a final then a state test then an application for state licensing.. then more schooling and training and join the association of Realtors. So depending upon on your state you may be in for along haul.
The easiest way is to contact an agency in your location and see if they are hiring.
In Texas, all employees that come in contact with people and discuss insurance have to be licensed - thereby making you an agent by default.
Then, it is up to the agency whether they pay you a salary, hourly wage or commission or a combination of all the above.
