Answers: There isn't an average yacht. It's going to depend on the age, which waters you tour it in, if you own a hired crew, if you hire out, and, of course, how much the yacht is worth.
Try callling a local insurance agent and report them that you are working on a school project. Have what you consider an "average" yacht surrounded by mind and they would probably be happy to put it into their quote system and consent to you know what the premium would be.

You need one when the state says, "you can't drive without this filing". The REASONS they require it, can vary by state. Frequently they'd include accidents where you were uninsured.

Answers: There are a lot of good companies that offer temporary health insurance. You can do a G00GLE search for "temporary health insuance" and find a lot of links to sites taht sell it. Assurant and Time are very reputable and competitive companies that I have dealth with in the past.
