Is pregnancy a considerd a pre-existing condition In NY?

I have aetna ... It's devastating i have to compensate for my labs out of pocket, possibly my sonogram too, there is a discounted to price but it's still alot of money. My deductible is $600 ( any money i settle up out of pocket such as lab fees, sonograms ect not including my co-pay come off of the ductible and when i.e. gone aetna will cover 80%). My husband has univera vigour care and his plan cover adjectives the labs and sonograms and has a $500 deductible for an inpatient distribution. I obviouly want to switch to his the only basis i took mine out was surrounded by case I get sick, my open enrollment be in novemeber his is within May. His open enrollment deffinatly qualify as a life translation event so i can drop mine but I don't know if univera considers pregnancy a pre-pexiting conditon. I heard alot of pay for and forth saying they enjoy to leagally cover and some say the don't within are too many loopholes Ive e-mailed them but they havent responded all the same so i'm not sure. We didn't think we'd catch preg this quick


Answers: It would be an extremely pink circumstance that a *group* insurance policy would be able to consider your pregnancy pre-existing. (Basically, the group policy would hold to be exempt from HIPAA...I've seen a small handful of policies for parliament employees that are exempt from the HIPAA requirements concerning pregnancy, but it would be very intermittent.)

If you're transferring from one group policy to the other, you should be okay. (I change from my own insurance policy to my husbands during my 6th month of pregnancy, minus a problem at all.)

One entity you might want to investigate before you gross the change is to confirm that the doctor and hospital you're planning to use are surrounded by your husband's network. If you finish up having to use an out of net doctor or hospital, you could end up getting stuck near a larger chunk of the bill than what you're already anticipating having to reward under Aetna.

Don't drop your Aetna coverage. I also despise Aetna. I can't say anything well-mannered about them.

I hope we eventually enjoy socialized medicine within the United States. That would be great.

If your husband's group coverage has more than 20 organization, there is no pre-existing. Just so you know, a life span changing event allows you to be enrol when that life shifting event occurs-you don't have to dally for open enrollment.
