When you crowd up insurance policies, do you hold to state the status of the beneficiaries?

Like if your beneficiary is single or married.

And if the answer is yes, my follow up question is, If he get married without describing you, (so instead of single he is now married) what will be the problem?

(Sorry but I am not from U.S. and insurance is not a big issue where on earth I come from... So I just want to follow about it, because I own a problem related to it.)

Answers:    No, marital status is irrelevant.
No. The beneficiary's wedded status is not a factor.
