How can I find out if a company have workman comp insurance?

My husband has hurt his rear legs at work (construction) and he went for an MRI today, the company told him that the injury wouldn't be covered. That is not easy for me to believe. Can anyone help us please? Thanks

Answers:    Well, an employer is required by statute to post the workers comp claim information.

When you say construction, that tell me the company doesn't HAVE any workers comp coverage.

From your point of view - ask them for a copy of the denial epistle from the insurance company.

Bottom line - if they own no coverage, you're going to have to sue them for it - and if you gain a judgement, you THEN have to try to collect. And next to construction industry, it's much easier to file ruin and start all over again beside a new corporate mark.

But you can file a complaint near your state department of labor, also - who could just flat out shut them down.

Meanwhile YOU are stuck near the medical bills, unless you have vigour insurance.

**if you're asking, is there a database where on earth you can look it up, the answer is no.**
well i know within washington state all comapnies are by tenet to have workmans comp, unless your an indipendant contractor. Call your state attorney generals bureau, the state DSHS, and ask them about it. also if you own a lawyer bargain to them about a possible lawsuit. If he is an hand, he should speak to someone in Human Resources/Personnel and vote he wants to report a workers compensation claim. They can't deny him from filing a claim.

If he is an independent contractor fairly than an employee, consequently it is possible he was told the right answer.
Was he working as a bona fide hand or as an independent contractor? If he's an actual employee, his employer is required to get WC coverage. If he's an independent contractor, that law doesn't apply. Well depending which state you are at no event companies are required to have work comp insurance.

If your husband be a independent contractor and was hired by this construction company nearby could be a problem unless there be control from that construction company.

However I would call the workers comp division contained by your state, they should have adjectives the records. Check the website of the state you work within, like Utah Workers Compensation board or something along the lines of that and typically there is a spot of who covers the company.

Good luck
