Answers: I usually say "find a local independent agent" - but I've be seeing Allstate advertise (in Texas) for $81 per YEAR!
That's pretty cheap...and I would be sure to compare it next to some other companies!

You imply, you're renting a unit and you want to bring renters insurance? Or you own a rental house, and you want to insure it? Or you own a major rental property?
If it's the first, step with the company that writes your sports car insurance - the discount off the vehicle insurance will likely more than rate for the renter's coverage. If it's the second, go beside the agent that writes the coverage for the house you live in, that's the cheapest style to go. If it's the third, you're predictable still better off beside the agent that writes your personal insurance. Rental properties are high loss, lofty maintenance, low commission properties, and can be frozen to place. Or rather, not too tricky to place, but many companies don't want them, so the ones that do charge more.
Because rates change so much from one company to another the key is to find as many quotes as possible from a range of companies.

You swarm out one simple on-line form and they provide you with multiple quotes from several companies. This beat calling agent after agent only to go and get quotes from the same insurance companies.
