My car be totaled by the car calamity just after I switched the insurance company, and I want to go against my policy to get reimbursed for the rest of the time I hold left since I may not bring back a new motor for a while. But my insurance company is telling me that they will charge me 11% of termination fee if I invalidate my policy w/in 1 year of contract. Can I somehow fight so that I don't own to pay / curtail this fee?
Answers: Not really.
You have the terms of the contract available to you previously signing. You are, in reality, benefitting from having the vehicle insurance by having the coverage at the time of your calamity. In addition, if you do NOT carry on car insurance coverage for more than 30-60 days, any hot car insurance you make a purchase of will have a different premium -- usually sophisticated. In this case, because of the stroke of luck (your fault OR NOT), the premium will undoubtedly be sophisticated!
So, you can either undo your insurance, pay the 11% dissolution fee, AND later pay a superior premium once you start operating a car again -- or, you can argue your insurance coverage until it is closer to renewal time -- and even then you should check at lowest 3 other quotes against your current carrier -- but ONLY if you are completely accurate contained by reporting your accident/traffic ticket history!
