Most of them charge a one time fee for the permanent status of the contract, but the policy has so heaps exclusions and so many requirements (like save receipt - register in so many days) that if you tried to form a claim for the contract, you would'nt have the things they required.

Well it depends. I bought a new dishwasher later year and my four year old threw one of her little toys contained by the washer and for weeks I kept hearing this annoying jingle. They came out and found a toy element in the pipe for NO charge. I own insurance on the dishwasher until 2011. Once a year they come out and do a maintenance check on my dishwasher.
I believe it's just better to buy warranty because you never know. These days they DON'T formulate things as good as they use too. My farther-in-law have had his wash machine for 24 yrs and he merely had to replace it this year. Mine is not even 8 years old-fashioned before I have to buy another washer and dyer. My refrigerator is acting up and it's not even 10 years old. I didn't grasp a warranty on it. I wish I have but most warranties are solely for 5 years when you buy the product.
