I hold a ask in the region of flooding of a home??

My home is not covered by a seperate flood insurance plan. Am I covered by my regular home owners insurance policy? I am also not in a flood plane and I am not competent to purchase flood insurance.

Discussion board?

Answers:   No. Flood is specifically excluded on every single homeowners policy in the US. It's ONLY covered by flood policies.

AND, you don't HAVE to be surrounded by a flood plain, in writ to buy a flood policy. So if you think, "oh, I'm not within a flood plain because I'm in Pittsburgh, so I can't buy flood insurance," it's not necessarily true. Yes, I've see flood claims in Pittsburgh. And yes, you CAN buy flood insurance, contained by most places.

Ask your agent about it. And obtain the answer in writing, because some agents are idle and don't WANT to write flood.

Life Insurance?

Typically not. The "water damage" exclusion typically excludes coverage for any type of surface hose down as to a homeowners policy. The only possibility for coverage, outside of the National Flood program, may be sewer backup support, if you have one (or if your plinth policy includes such coverage). If the water back up through a drain or sump hole, you may have coverage. There is collectively a limit for such coverage (I picked the $10k option) but it is better than zilch. Good luck. Flood damage from a colloquial event (river or stream flooding etc.) is not included in homewners' insurance. You can purchase separate flood insurance if your community is an NFIP participant.

How does Mortgage Insurance work?

What nature of flooding? Homeowner's insurance will not cover general flooding, nor will it cover groud sea seepage. It will normally cover flooding from a burst pipe.
