I tried to dry it in the sun, took out the mobile dried that too. Now, the laptop does work but most keys of the baby grand dont work. I can only generate it work by a keyboard connected via USB.
I enjoy a home insurance which covers accidental wounded. I called them and they said they will post me a claim form. They also said i will requirement 3 quotes for replacement/repair if possible. If getting quotes is unachievable they will get such quotes for me. I am waiting for the claim form. Can anybody guidance on what I should do to get the best claim?
My laptop bought contained by 2003 was worth lb750 appx. can i seize somewhat a similar figure to buy a hot one?
Answers: I doubt you'd get lb750 as prices of computers and laptops own come down significantly since 2003. You would be able to claim for a modern laptop with a specification equivalent to your weak one.
No offence but it sounds approaching you're with a really backwards insurance company. Where I work, the details are collected over the phone (no messing around next to claim forms etc) and they shouldn't expect you to go out hunting for quotes to carry the laptop replaced/repaired either - that's their livelihood, not yours.
If the insurer insists on you completing a claim form, can't you go to their website and print out a copy of it (or ask that they email you a copy of it)? That should release you time.
They will either:
1) Refund the money you reimburse for it (good insurers do this)
2) Give you an equivelant priced laptop (A lb750 laptop of todays standard)
3) Give you an equivelant new laptop beside similar specs
It depends on how it all falls through, but I would be guessing that it will probably be number 1.
As Alex posted, if it is beyond economical repair after they will either replace or repay for you to replace. Either situation will put you back into duplicate position as you were in the past the incident.
Do bear surrounded by mind that a similar-spec laptop will cost less immediately to replace.
