Insurance Questions and Answers

In the month of April we get a epistle stating our Health Insurance would be going up to a abiding amount?

Question:
However, We did not receive a bill for the month of May- Now, they sent a bill for double the amount we owe...Anyways im pregnant and i called the hotline and the customer service reps be gone for the day and the hotline said i be covered until May 31st- But, i just go to the DR yesterday...So, what does this mean? Does this show my DRS visit i lately went to will not be covered or what? Please inform me of this! appreciation!

Answers:
You will have to take-home pay that double bill, for May, AND for June, and then they'll cover the doctor call round.
As long as you pay the two months, you will be OK. The problem would be if you have a gap within coverage. During that gap, they could require you to re-apply and that could prolong your coverage.

Even though you did not receive the bill, you should hold technically paid it; you know that you owe money for insurance and inevitability to pay the bill. The become aware of they send you act (legally) as a reminder for your convenience; it is not the formal notice that you owe the money.

Good Luck! (With the insurance and the baby)

Fraud at my optometrist department! support!?

Question:
I have lately realized that over the recent past 5 years, my optometrist has be charging me full price for glasses i obtain every year because they told me most of their glasses are "too cheap to use insurance on" and hold been file for reimbursement from my insurance AND charging me full price. How should i got more or less handling this situation and do you think i would be capable of get at lowest a small portion of my money back? I didn't realize it until i go to eyemasters this year and got eyeglasses that the other company was doing this.

Answers:
I enjoy two recommendations for you:

1) All insurers are required by tenet to have insurance fraud investigation team. Call your insurer and tell it you will to report a case of suspected insurance fraud.

2) Contact your state insurance commissioner's organization and ask to be connected with an investigator surrounded by the Insurance Fraud Unit. Explain the matter to the investigator, who will advocate you further. You will probably be asked to submit a written statement so an investigation can be opened.
How do you know that they own been file for reimbursement? Have you signed anything authorizing it? If in doubt, contact your insurance company.

It is unlikely you can seize any money back but if something is going down, your insurance company should know roughly it so that they can investigate.
File a fraud claim with your state insurance department.
You stipulation to contact your insurance company and get copies of the claims they salaried out for your hardware towards this fac. once you have them later you need to address getting reimbursement from the fac. the insurance will not reimburse you unless it states that contained by your benefits.

I work for a medical insurance company. I have see and heard it adjectives. When a member call and tells me like thing, I check their benefits to see if it covers hardware (not adjectives polices do), then i dispatch that member adjectives the information of the claims the fac has submitted and consequently the member have to contact the fac and get reimbursment from them..

Contact your insurance and ask for oblige and advice!

Why? is works comp is expensive?

Question:
we have a corporated company as home renovation contractor
some how my works comp insurance going up evrytime

Answers:
Your worker's comp is expensive because of the work you do. There is a much higher probability of one of your workers mortal injured on the job than utter someone who works in an organization.

Also, worker's comp policies are subject to annual audits and the premiums are based on the type of work you do and the amount of your payroll. More payroll contained by any given year will increase your premium.
Have you had any claims? Call your agent and ask why.
Because ancestors that try to get on worker's comp, and live on it for the rest of their lives. I own seen claim files that date rear for decades.
What if one of your guys shoots a nail through their foot and get an infection from it or if they accidentally put their hand contained by the chop saw. Instead of you paying for that, you have worker's comp. That's why it's expensive.

My dad is within HR for a commercial construction company. Had a guy fall down an elevator shaft and impail himself on four pieces of rebar. He survived thank integrity, but he's wheelchair bound. How much do you think that costs?
because here is a base rate for the type of work you do multiplied by the amount of money you reward in payroll, since contracting is more hazardous than influence being an attorney for injuries, you would foot more in premium. If you enjoy a loss, say rear injury, or some type of injury that requires extreme medical care, the insurance company could possibly clear out to the policy limit of $500,000. You are not paying that much within premium, so it is a gamble that the insurance company take insuring you and your employees, and it is more than promising you will have claims against the policy that far out weigh your annual premium.

Insurance claim for TV through Norwich alliance?

Question:
Has anyone done this recently? Just have an accident and the sreen have cracked. The claim team said its passed out to empire direct for assesment and someone will hail as to fix it (which i dont think they can) or replace it. my verbs is will they replace with a similar tv which is immediately 10 years old or will it be replaced beside a like for close to value of when purchased of lb1,600.00

I own an old for topical policy with this insurer for 13 years and never made a claim until that time. So i would be grateful if you can tell me the procedure so i know what i am on roughly and dont get fobbed rotten.
Thanks for you time and help

Answers:
In adornment to the previous answer - you can pay to upgrade. You don't own to have exactly similar to for like. If, for example, they read aloud that an equivalent TV would cost lb500 (it is possible as prices for electrical items go down deeply even after 1 year) and they suggest a Sony XXX, you could pick a different make and model. Just ask Empire for alternatives or rate extra to have something better. Regarding repairs, they don't other bother trying. They might just discuss the vandalize with you over the phone and if it's unlikely (which it might powerfully be at 10 yrs) then they'd dance straight for replacement. If you get stuck, email me.
Hi,

If Empire settle on it is BER (beyond economic repair) next they'll offer you a TV of similar spec's but not the ingenious purchase value. For example, if you have a 32" wide eyeshade TV, that's what they'll replace, even though the cost of that type of TV may have fall a lot since after (and many hold with the arrival of LCD/ Plasma). If your TV have any special features or compatibility with other home entertainment devices (like home cinema systems, stereos etc.) take home sure they supply a TV that will also work with them as that's what you are entitled to.

New for elderly means you get hold of back what you lost, not what you spent. And don't forget if Empire replace your t.v you'll probably enjoy to pay your policy excess to them as okay.

My experience is with another brand of insurance but I don't envision Norwich Union would be any different.

Renting a house and want to catch a pool?

Question:
I'm renting a house and I want to put up one of those easy set pools. I call my landlord and they said the insurance would cover it but they would hold to have a copy of our renter's insurance. Why?

Answers:
Because your RENTERS insurance is what would provide the first liability defense, if someone DROWNS surrounded by the pool. He wants to construct sure YOU get sued first, instead of him.
Their insurance company may not cover unless in that is a claim source for the pool owner. You, as the pool owner, should be the primary insurer for pool liability. There is also sometimes requirements by the insurer as to accessibility, etc. Pools and trampolines have a great deal in adjectives: people acquire hurt on or in them!
He wishes to demonstrate how dumb he is ..

In the event someone drowns in your pool, he'll win sued as well as you, but he's forgotten he probably have more assets than you do. Hope he has a really big umbrella policy to cover his butt.

What he should utter is "no pools .. sorry"

What disability programs/insurance can I bring contained by on?

Question:
I'm 20 and I have crohn's disease. I be also diagnosed with it a long time ago. Which is nominated as a disabling disease. In the upcoming years, i'll be falling off my parent's insurance. Yet I wont be out of college, or be making adequate to cover my medicines. Which short insurance would cost me about 1,000 a month for my three perscriptions. I be wondering what kind of disability benefits or programs I could acquire. I was diagnosed next to crohn's while i was a child. I know i can't receive social security because, they wont provide partial disability. I really don't want to go underneath as fully disabled otherwise going to college is kinda pointless. I just want to return with a little support paying for my medicine, specialist visit as well as those polite procedures i'm forced to endure annually.
Anyone hold any ideas?

Answers:
I have a former collegue who had Crohn's disease and he be in indistinguishable situation. He was an insurance agent, contract, so no benefits. I know the stigma would suck, but ring Social Security and apply for Medicaid. I know, I know, but he did it and qualified. He is in academy now and still on Medicaid. When he old pupils, and gets a angelic job, near benefits, then he will draw from off Medicaid. Hope this help, good luck.
Check next to vocational rehabilitation in your local nouns, not only can they give support to with arts school but other things as well.
Call Social Services contained by your county and ask them if there are programs to assist you next to your prescriptions. I also have a connect below that might be helpful.

Your subsequent bet would be working full time at a large company near health insurance, and going to arts school part time. The veracity is many population take lower paying job just to bring the health insurance. When you're paying $1000 a month, in good health, that does bite.

Also, check the website of some of the pill manufacturers. Some do present help for folks, although I'm not sure human being a full-time college student would count.
wow, i wish i could serve. kudos to you for working your way thru college tho!
As far as Social Security Disability go, there are indubitable grounds and conditions that must be met in command to qualify. Just having be diagnosed with crohn's will not automatically qualify you.
Go to the following intertwine and read more about it.
Good luck.

.
EDIT.
Some states enjoy programs that will help wages for prescription medications. Check beside your states Office of the Insurance Commissioner. There may also be federal programs.
.
I understand where on earth you are coming from. First understand that insurance is state regulated. Depending on your state that will be paid a big difference. Keep in mind that as long as you do not step without insurance for more than 63 days NOBODY can pass off a pre-existing condition on you, (including your crohn's). If you get into a pickle find yourself a short occupancy medical plan to buy you time to figure things out. Typically they will merely ask about 5 form questions. This verdict will typically have a well brought-up thing and desperate thing both. While the Short Term Medical plan will keep hold of you from exceeding the 63 day extent that I discussed, they typically DO NOT cover Pharmacy costs and also do not cover pre-existing. This policy would only be to acquire you to the next condition insurance provider with no pre-existing.

You probably own some good communication on the pharmacy. If your income is under around 25-35k per year, consequently you can look up the manufacturer of your pharmacy and later go to the drug manufacturer's website. You will probably find a connect there call "Patient Assistance Program". It is usually one page long and your physician would have to sign it, but you can probably attain free medicine. Many don't know in the region of this which is unfortunate. I own also found some counties around the country that have if truth be told hired employees to assist their county residents surrounded by this process so the County indigent office does not hold to cover these expenses.

Let's get hindmost to the bigger pressing issue. Getting that health insurance policy (Not the Short Term Medical). Check near your department of insurance for your state to see if they have a giant risk pool that you can get into for your robustness insurance policy. This is a good selection as well. The cost of the condition plan might be high, but also look into programs beside your state to see if there is premium assistance for the policy and also near your County Indigent office. Sometimes your county will gross the premium payment for you. This is smaller number expensive for the county than paying your medical bills.

As you can see this is a sticky widget. You really want to have an expert insurance agent assisting you near this problem. Go to http://www.theamericancollege.edu/... and do a search for an agent/advisor surrounded by your area beside the professional designation of RHU (Registered Health Underwriter). This is the brass ring in the insurance industry of those professionals that are more conversant of issues such as what you are dealing with.

You brought up disability insurance. During the course of your lifetime look for opportunity to obtain an individual disability policy. Depending on your area of study in conservatory, and your jobs contained by life you may enjoy times along the way that you pick up the opportunity to purchase a type of disablity insurance called "Noncancellable Guaranteed Renewable" disability insurance. If you do. JUMP ALL OVER THAT. It will typically cost you 2-3% of annual income, but not purchasing this type of coverage is the biggest mistake that individuals of adjectives walks of vivacity fail to do. This is financial planning 101 on that piece of warning.

I hope that this helps. Good Luck. Lance
It sounds close to you will want to find a job that offer group health benefits. Make sure that it covers prescriptions (towards the wind up of the interview or on the second interview). My wife has epilepsy and lacking her group coverage, we would be paying about $900 a month.

Disability insurance will be massively tricky and I don't see anyone issuing a fantastic policy on your type of risk. Still, it might be worth while to check into Assurity and Lloyds. A competent independent agent should be able to minister to you with this.

Life insurance will look closely better especially since you have have it for a while. Final offers will hinge on more information on the smooth of control that you have, but I would create in your mind several companies wanting to make an submit.

Good luck
The ONLY way you're going to catch any kind of disability or robustness insurance coverage, is through an employer. So you're going to have to column up a job really, really immediately so you have no lapse within coverage, and they won't exclude coverage for your Crohn's.

I have NO model why you're falling off your parent's insurance - generally it will cover you until you're 23 if you're a full time college student. So something else is going on there.

But I DO know that you can turn to school, and work sector time for UPS, and they'll give you vigour insurance.

Do adjectives insurers own an excess tax when you claim or does this simply apply for some?

Question:

Answers:
Insurance is normally regard as a distress product i.e. people buy it because they hold to, and as such price seems to be the key reason fairly than cover (The thing is - when you buy something approaching a loaf of bread you get the benefit smartly, so the quality of the bread is historic - you won't buy mouldy bread would you? However most people don't perceive any benefit surrounded by an insurance policy so cover provided is not apparant - and many populace buy the equivalent of a 'mouldy' insurance polciy believe me!)

Rant over - anyway to reduce the price of a policy insurance companies own got to drain the amount that they pay out within claims. This means that they any reduce the 'cover' by excluding some benefits of the policy or they product the policyholder responsible for more of the damage themselves by increasing the excess - a virtuous example is looking at 'aggregator websites' like moneysupermarket.com and looking at the cheapest policies at hand - so they pay out smaller quantity in the event of a claim. As price is adjectives that Direct companies can offer we are currently seing ever worse insurance contracts one released on the internet - all price orientated - Have a look at Quinn Direct and Easymoney for examples of cheap 'mouldy' insurance policies - and some companies are hiding the amount of the excess by making it terrifically difficult to find.

Having an excess also reduces the number of small/ tricvial claims that whip up a lot of resources to process and thus hang on to administration costs down.

So, largely, policies have excesses. You can regularly 'buy-back' the excess by paying an additional premium if you ask however if you do buy the excess put a bet on and then bring in several small claims the insurance company are within their rights to palm off an additional excess at renewal date - this would come lower than 'special terms imposed' and could affect the skill to switch insurance companies.

One final point - suppose 10 people hold a policy and the insurance company wants to bestow the policy lb10 cheaper and they know one person within 10 makes a claim. Then they will invade an excess of lb100.00. This means that 9 nation save merely lb10.00 but the unlucky person is lb90.00 worse rotten!
They usually ask you when taking out insurance - most younger people lug the full 'excess' to make their insurance cheaper.
The smaller quantity excess the more the insurance premium will be.
it just make your insurance cheeper. i personally own lb0 excess but i pay rather more for that option next to cis insurance
You mean approaching a claims surcharge? It varies from state to state. It's the STATE that allows a claim surcharge, or denies a claim surcharge.

It ALSO depends on the type of policy - MOST states allow surcharges for at glitch accidents on auto policies. And NONE allow surcharges for strength insurance claims.
Most insurance has an excess - home, motor, pet, travel to term a few. Those without - vivacity, payment protection.
It would be made clear to you when taking out the insurance and would be surrounded by any documentation.
Higher excess fee will lower the premium. Meaning the insurer just pays the claim's amount after deducting the specified excess payment.

Most excess fees are stated upfront before you purchase the insurance and not during claims. Policy holders must become conscious the excess amount as stated in the policy document. (get an agent to explain the detail).

Insurers will apply excess surrounded by different product classes. Sometime for the same product class, the sub product class will own different excess amount. Like travel insurance, the overall excess fee may be 100, but for lost kit can be 150.

Excess fee is applicable if the insurer feel that the product that they insured is subject to moral hazard (fraudulent claims) or illustrious risk (too many claims' incident)

Hopefully the above info is kind to u
All insurers will apply excesses to their policies unless you pay extra for an excess waiver. There are usually section of policies where the excess does not apply eg. windscreens, delayed luggage etc. Unfortunately to be sure what applies to respectively particular policy you will any have to enjoy a member of staff explain it to you surrounded by detail or you will need to read the policy documents (tedious though they are)
No , but they charge more , the more the excess the smaller number you have to settle for the insurance , ok if you are sure you won't have an luck that is your eccentricity

Do I own a legalized right to a company coupé?

Question:
After having a company vehicle for 6 years they want to stop me having one and furnish me an allowance instead which relates to a substantial pay cut ( the allowance will not allow me to own a similar spec vehicle )and leaves me without a coupé.

Answers:
Unfortunately no ..

All these people busting your chops own obviously never have a car orient job. I've be a road warrior for a company and if you're driving more than 20K miles per year I don't see how getting an allowance is equitable. Figure your private car is depreciating faster than you're driving. Unless you buy a mature Taurus and drive it to a million miles, you're coming out with a settle cut.

I'd chat with your employer later update my resume'.

As far as these other haters posting here .. every time somebody gets a compensate cut or loss of benefits everyone else says suck-it-up..that's go..now your freshly like the rest of us.. You've be fed a steady chain of corporate crap your whole lives, every time I check Wall Street report it's about text earnings and corporate excess. Now some working schmo losses benefits and adjectives you have to read aloud is too bad? That's a nouns and every time someone shrugs and takes it we adjectives go rather more down hill. So what if he drives a company vehicle? Does this mean his company owner will enjoy to settle for the 6000 sq ft house instead of the 7500? You're a bunch of corporate tools!
You have NO RIGHTS to a company vehicle -
No, you don't have a officially recognized right. If you are not happy next to the deal, wish employment elsewhere.
you mean you'll enjoy to buy a lower spec car?? Poor you!!
LOL!!

Of course you don't. If you don't resembling the terms of your employment, acquire a different job. No one nail your feet to the floor.

Some population..
Only if you have a permitted contract that states the company will provide you with a saloon.
OMG you mean you will hold to buy yourself a car beside your own money what nerve they hold. be lucky there are empire out there that don't own a car or a chore...
What does your contract say? And by the means of access, a company car is a perk most of the world doesn't own, I doubt if you'll get much sympathy from anybody give or take a few the loss of the car.
A company vehicle is usually a perk of the job and can be withdrawn at any time - of late as in a retail environment, staff discount can be reduced or withdrawn. If you hold union representation, budge to your union. You solely have a valise if it is impossible to perform your regular work duties without a motor.
No one has the right to hold car, company or otherwise.
Your company is compensating you for withdrawing the saloon. I'm sorry you can't have a flash motor anymore. Poor you have to downsize, why don't you sue them for violating your human rights.
Check your employment contract and see it say, it is probably something you would be expected to renegotiate with the company respectively time your contract was up for renewal and they will probably enjoy a clause in within saying that they can bring the car if you and retribution you a travel allowance instead if they want.
I am looking for my miniature violin so I can play for you a very miniature sympathy tune. Of course you enjoy no right to a company car. It's a perk which you be able to relish for six years, and now they are abstraction that perk.

The days of company cars are coming to an end. Most corporations are approaching hand travel the way your company is NOW. Bite the bullet and buy or lease a vehicle and continue on beside your job.
You do NOT hold a legal right contained by law to a company coupé HOWEVER you should check your contract of employment. If that contract states that a company car will be provided consequently your employers are trying to amend your contract and you could know how to claim 'breach of contract' and damages.

Please note that if a company motor is provided then your import tax code may have be reduced to take into details 'benefit in kind' and if the benefit is withdrawn after your tax code may increase and you retribution less export tax.
ONLY if it's in writing within your contract. If it's not written anywhere, you're kind of out of luck.
You must be kid?

1) Its their car, they supply it to you merely like a desk or a bench or any other accessory within the office.

2) Presumeably it is used singular for business . You letter imply that, since you have no other coupé, you have be using a company car for personal business. It is terrifically rare for a company to do that intentionally considering the liability issues that attach with such consent.

3) If you feel you involve better car later, just close to any other employee, you whip that up with your supervisor or bureaucrat. If they agree then you capture it.. if they don't then you settle for what the company give you - if it impacts the rank of your work you then document it so that you can demonstrate the involve for a better car.

4) As for a personal sports car.. considering you have have a free car for your employment extent, you should have bank the money that you would have spent (or a portion of it) knowing that it be inevitable that someday you would no longer have a company coupé. Poor planning.

Sorry to sound so unyielding, but welcome to the existing world ...

.
This is a variation to your employment contract, although a company can breed a change, they hold to give you sense, but no company "has" to give you a vehicle unless it is specialised work tool.

However, enjoy you taken into account adjectives of the tax benefits of giving up your company coupé and are you sure that you will be worse off. For example

How much are you paying surrounded by tax for your company coupé currently (P11D value of current motor at CO2 emissions export tax rate at your tax rate eg, motor at value of lb20000, next to a taxable emissions of 24% and you are a superior rate tax payer will scrounging that you are paying lb160 per month - your salary will increase by this amount)

How much allowance are you going to obtain? lb300 per month gross has to hold your tax taken out so you are vanished with more or less lb180

Then you have to sketch for business miles, if you have a fuel card currently afterwards you are being tax on this if you are given your private mileage (unless you pay a contribution to private miles or find reimbursed for miles done). If you don't keep your fuelcard and return with paid a pence per mile, the inland revenue currently allows you to claim backbone up to 40pence per mile for the first 10000 business miles and 25pence for anything over the 10000miles. Your car should not cost this much for fuel and if you don't capture the full amount you will be able to apply for a rebate or re-coding of your import tax code to your benefit.

So already you would have roughly speaking 340 to spend, plus you would be making on the fuel, unless you are driving something flash and lapping the world, it doesn't nouns so bad?? If anything if you aren't competent to get like level of sports car by doing this, then you could other go rear legs and ask them for more money and for them to justify it.
Check out the calculation at
http://cccfcalculator.inlandrevenue.gov.

Companies generally do this exercise on a "cost neutral" principle, so they take into explanation what you have immediately and what you would then be capable of afford. They also have a strength and safety liability, to ensure that the vehicle that you are using is not dangerous for work and suitable for the job that you do.

Many relations automatically assume that they are worse off by giving their company sports car back - formulate sure that you have adjectives the facts before you dispute it.
I consider you have received some moderately good answers. Generally the answer is no. However, you should check your employment contract (if you enjoy one). The only other nouns I can think of is whether you are mortal singled out in any path. If so, perhaps in attendance is something there to suppose about.
At my company they verbs people from the area all the time and nick away their company car. You achieve a 1 time pay out but save for that you are out of luck. They are within their rights.
I've done both ways. The company coupé is better than being remunerated for miles. It's legal (what they're doing). It's your "right" to find another errand.

Question:
but my doc says it will be 2 or 3 proceduries althou its adjectives done at same time, my ins. says it will solitary cover highest cost procedure? shouldnt this adjectives be one dam procedure? i consistency ins. is trying to not pay up?? any assist?

Answers:
It sound resembling you've got a hospital qualification policy, such as mega, nase, or united american, not an actual highest medical policy. Their policies are written that way, which is why I other try to discourage people from these policies. Unfortunately, if this is the type of policy you own they're within their rights.
The price of knees surgery is very low within India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. My cousin also got her hip replacement surgery contained by India through the Fly2india4health Consultants .She is more than very bright and breezy with the results. She is totally headache free now. She basically paid 25% of the amount she be quoted in USA and is adjectives praise for this Fly2india4health Consultants.

Fly2india4health Consultants is very notorious in India. I read deeply about them contained by the Newspapers and magazines. I enjoy read a lot of their merciful stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery out of the country for low price, as all reciprocal surgery is not covered by insurance in USA or by NHS surrounded by the UK. They also have photos paste of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I instinctively believe that your surgery can be easily handle in India, as the level of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and services are 5 star.

thanks

Answers:
You should consider chitchat to an attorney (make that a few attorneys) about setting up your estate to assistance for him and protect you at the same time. The strength insurance pays for what it pays for.
Contact local churches and charitable organizations. Often these groups pay envelope medical bills for needy family.
There are no grants or "reimbursement" programs. Someone will own to pick up a second job.

There's really no programs for things resembling this. Your best bet is to make a expenditure plan with the provider, save your reciepts, and if it's expensive enough, itemize it on your taxes.

My grandmothers furniture?

Question:
Is getting really old and she have some real nice furniture contained by her house. I think I could swap it out for the crap surrounded by my house and she wouldn't notice. I be determined, even if she did I would just narrate her she forgot about the 'garage sale'. What does she have need of it for?

Answers:
The furniture is old or she is? That's lately mean. How would you close to it someone did that to you?
It's her property, not yours, and what you propose is theft. You'd be taking lead of her poor memory to benefit yourself.
I really hope you're joking, because I have cousins do something like this to my gramma, and it's purely plain selfish and cruel.
(Checked your ahead of time questions - no wonder you can't go and get a date, if this is your style of humor. Remember that people can't hear or see you, so they own no way to know for sure that you're fooling around unless you write j/k somewhere in your post.)

UPS shiping problem?

Question:
I am seeking advice on what performance I should do. I am planned to go to Indiana from Maine, afterwards from Indiana to California to where I will be going to arts school. I had shipped everything (or most everything via UPS.) All of my items arrived without fault, except one very expensive item (LCD Monitor). I have insured it for $1,200 and put a claim on it. They are telling me that they denied the claim becuase it be improperly jammed. My GF and her mother say that they are a moment ago seeing if i will just go off it at that (Claim Denial). But I need a monitor for university and other educational programs. They (GF and her mother) voice that i should take every movement to get my money's worth, and next some. What should I do? Please help.

Answers:
UPS won't tolerate you insure items that they don't pack themselves. If you packed it yourself consequently you aren't telling the full story. If they let you insure it next they are responsible.
what!
I'd suggest you continue. You've implied rather denotatively that you are a student, and therefore probably on a budget. As it is not financially recommended to purchase a modern one, you should attempt to get your old-fashioned one back.
No, the lingo of the insurance DO have an exclusion for breakage for bad-mannered packing. Pretty much by definition, if it breaks, it wasn't properly packed. You don't own a CHANCE of getting this covered.

Mostly the insurance covers if it gets lost, and never shows up.
Improper paper will stick. I worked many years next to trucking claims, and the first question be, "how was it busy. "
If not in an reasonable manner, sorry!
How did ypu pack it??
if you bought insurance to protect your box they should provide you with a written explanation on why they can't insure it. Write them a notification asking for their denial in writting, and that you are going to write another memorandum to the department of insurance to insure accuracy of their denial. You may try this and see if this help.
