Question in relation to getting homeowners insurance?

We are closing on our house and for the new house we involve homeowners, when i called state fruit farm they told me they would not insure me because of a claim we had on our current home contained by 2006. The amount of the claim was something like 2500. They said just because we made the claim we could not be insured by them until 2009! We enjoy never made an insurance claim in the 21 years of owning this home. Are we going to own a problem getting insurance?

Discontinuation of LIC policy?

Answers:   I assume you do not have State Farm for your current company. Homeowners insurance is heavily regulated by the state, as are adjectives lines of insurance, so, yes, this is legal. And, yes, 1 claim inside 3 years can completely disqualify you, and claims in 3-5 years can form you ineligible for certain discounts. Each state's regulations come and go, so it might not be exactly like this surrounded by your state. Also, excellent credit would help you - if you "score" illustrious enough, your claim could hold been forgiven. Again, not sure if adjectives states use credit yet, but near State Farm, most do.

I understand your frustration, but, it really isn't event to forever hold it against the insurance company because they are following the state regulations. How would you feel if the insurance companies could hold your journal against you forever. Also, though whomever you go next to may not tell you, that claim is going to brand your premiums higher. It will be within your best interest to shop around once it is off. Good luck!

I work for State Farm and if you are a moment ago moving from one house to another, you should be able to purely transfer the insurance, regardless of any previous claims.

Did you ask what the claim they articulate you had be for?

I would investigate and find out what they said your claim was for, because if you have a claim in 2006, you demonstrably would have set since you would have have a deductible to pay. Unless, it be a liability claim on your home.

Well, yes, you've ALREADY had a problem getting insurance.

Go to a local, independent agent, and permit THEM try to place the coverage for you. ONE claim, in five years, shouldn't be a problem. TWO or THREE claims, powerfully, you could have a big, BIG problem. But that independent agent is your best bet to find a company inclined to take you.
