Only serious answers please...here is our dilemma. We have cracks within our unit ceiling due to counterweight of snow this winter. There is also cracks in the Common Areas. The association insurance wont cover our part but will cover the common nouns. Our insurance, after a lot of combat, is covering our damage but within is a $500 deductible. I guess I just touch that it is not my fault that the snow did not gain shoveled off because I am not the president of the association. I thought that be his job?? We are planning on asking the association to settle our deductible. Does this sound wrong to anyone?
Answers: Well, most of the time, it's a volunteer position - and it's roughly to run the board meetings.
Each association can set down duties however they like.
It's not the president's show disapproval that the snow didn't get shoveled bad. You're not going to get the "association" to salary your deductible. If they did, they'd have to earnings EVERYONE'S deductible, and you'd see a massive increase in the association fees.
If you don't similar to the way that your volunteer president manage things, YOU need to run for president, and put surrounded by all the hours, unpaid. And heck, find up on the roof to shovel the snow.
OR, you can propose that your association hires a MANAGEMENT company, and increases association fees accordingly, to take-home pay the management company. It's probably going to run $1000 per element per year, for a management company, so divide that by 12 to attain your increased fee amount.
Sorry, this hits a sore spot - I used to date a guy that be his association president, and NO ONE ever wanted to volunteer to relieve with ANYTHING. AT equal time, they'd call him and constraint that he, as president, change adjectives the light bulbs whenever they burned out. It's a unsatisfactory job, and not a soul wants to do it.
