How do you buy Shares?

Can i buy them online or do i have to in reality go to London to somewhere approaching the LSE?
Thanks

Answers: 1) Open an online account. Some popular places: Scottrade, Etrade, TD Ameritrade, ShareBuilder.
2) Once you are logged surrounded by to the site, it's terribly smooth. You'll choose whether you want to Buy or Sell, the ticker you wish to trade, the amount of shares, and the transaction type. So to buy 10 shares of Microsoft, here's how:
A) Choose Buy
B) Ticker = MSFT
C) Quantity = 10
D) Order type = Market (Limit instructions are better, but not critical when you're starting out or are buying small # of shares).
E) Click 'Place Order' and you'll have 10 shares of Microsoft within about 1/10 of a second!

You can practice beside pretend money at several places. I believe ThinkOrSwim.com has treatise accounts. I'd recommend doing some homework and then jump in near real money, though. It's really not horribly difficult (but it does pilfer some time & effort). The trick isn't buying, it's choose 'what' to buy. For that, there are dozens of websites, courses, TV channel, etc. (No one knows for sure, of course).
