What do you think of iShares MSCI - Brazil Index Fund (EWZ)? I read nearly it at http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2007/fort... as one of the Top foreign stocks for 2008 and wanted to know what people's opinion are... Thanks!Answers: two things are/were driving this upward -- Brazil is rapidly developing and thus sale are growing for domestic Brazilian operations, and Brazil operate a huge expert economy contained by raw materials and unsophisticated materials (steel, for example) which are in dignified demand contained by China and India.
that said -- what makes you presume that the markets haven't already bid up Brazilian shares within anticipation of these factors?
Hi friend, index funds shd be stable and appropriate. But provided the general reduction is ok. Rite now i believe that those who stay invested may be contained by for a rude shock. Do you believe in theEWI assumption?? It currently fits the US economy charts immaculately. Once it falls, the rest of us countries fall along.
My (opinion)
I roughly agree with that analysis. EWZ will do well--in the long occupancy . The worldwide demand for materials and vim (57% of EWZ holdings) should provide continued growth. However, any slowdown in the worldwide discount, will impact EWZ's performance.
Although EWZ have had a suitable run, I expect it to continue. But I also expect some bumps along the path. If you invest here, you should be prepared for substantial price swings. And be prepared to ride them out. I view EWZ as a buy and hold stock. This is not a stock for the woozy of heart, if you like to follow your stocks on a light of day to day principle.

EWZ was one of the greater performing ETF's in emerging market for 2007. But the index is tied to the US economy contained by more ways than can see. You will need to have a handle on what effects the US economy will hold on foreign markets. Similar ETF's (PGJ and FXI-China) enjoy done quiet okay but fell some points last year. If you are anticipating on adjectives returns on past performances, next you are in for a rude awakening. The best warning I can give to you is do some research and see if EWZ fits into your overall portfolio.
