How does the volume of a stock's trading reflect what it is going to do in the near term?

Answers: Sam gave you a good start, but there is a lot more to it than that. A lot more. And here is why; the volume that you see on charts (especially ones you dont pay to use), include the buy/selling of options, expiration of options, and shorting of stock. All of which, did not include any ACTUAL movement of stock. Do you see the difference? That is one of the biggest reasons why professional traders/investors look at SHORT INTEREST and PUT/CALLS volume on a stock.

You may have noticed (if not, please check it out) this on the 3rd Friday of the month (if not a holiday). This is the day Options contracts expire.

Sam nailed it though when he said it is a good indicator of investor sentiment, as volume, when used with other indicators, can help traders/investors decide when is a good time to get in or get out.

Volume becomes an important indicator when a stock is near/at a support or resistance price level. When a stock breaks out of a trading level or support/resistance level, most traders and investors want to see it done on ABOVE AVERAGE volume. Which generally speaking means (atleast for professionals) more than TWICE the average volume.

Again, there are other things you will need to consider, as well as other indicators that you follow.

So just to be clear, volume by itself doesnt really give a clear picture of anything, as I have mentioned before, charts can show high volume, without the actual buying/selling of stock.

But if it is used in combination with other indicators, it can aid you in find good buy and sell entry points.

the volume directly refers to the traders sentiment and it shows what the traders are doing currently...if they are buying or selling.you need to identify price patterns in order to understand what will happen in future.

like lets take an example.
prices rising above their previous high with good volumes suggest that maybe a lot of people have bullish sentiment and you can expect the trend to continue and the prices to move higher.and vice-versa.

if you follow charts and technical analysis...you can work these things out better and identify when a stock price could move up or down.
i hope i was able to make it clear enough...
A very simple acronym:
V.I.C. P.I.E.
Volume Is the Cause;
Price Is the Effect.

What does it be a sign of when a stock's price is smaller quantity than its book utility per share?

I know this is quite pink. Is this usually positive or negative?

Answers: Book efficacy is the equity of the company. It is assets - liabilities. Book attraction per share is the equity value of the company divided by the shares outstanding.

It is counter intuitive that price would be smaller quantity than the "liquidation" value of the company. However, we know that sometimes book attraction exceeds share prices.

When book value exceeds share price the flea market has priced surrounded by liabilities such as long possession lease agreements that are significant, the predicted value of litigation such as a class accomplishment law suit or monetary downturns in the industry that will hurriedly erode asset value.
Difficult to answer this cross-examine because stock prices are determined by many different factor, and usually a stock is never priced correctly.

The market reflect the combined moods of many ancestors at any given time, and when a stock rises or falls on heavy volume, it's an indication that some high-status news is affecting the outcome of that company through it's stock.

If book significance is considerably lower than the stock price, then it could be a impossible sign for the outcome of the company.

Generally, stocks trade at higher than book appeal.

Many companies in the home building business own a higher book convenience than the stock price, and that is because the outcome surrounded by that sector is bleak and not worth investing in at this time.

Book plus can be compared to that of a car.

I would with pleasure pay more than book importance for a car in good health maintained.

In the stock open market, I don't pay attention to book advantage at all.

I pay cheque attention to volume of shares trading.
