I just bid on ValueClickMedia at 3.2 Billion USD, do you think I will get the company?

Answers: Well if you have the money!! Maybe! You would have to keep an eye on the bids daily, to see if someone tries to out big you!

Bidding on any business, is not only hard to do, but can also be very frustrating trying to keep up with the bids! Some find it a lot easier to bargain straight with the owner, rather then bidding! And hoping to be the top bidder! Many times businesses are looking for fast sales too! And you, I'm sure heard the saying! MONEY TALKS! POOR MAN WALKS!

You could also try sending a silent bid straight to the business too! I know of many, that went that route and got the business deal!

Does the amount of time you held a stock for factor contained by when dividends are rewarded out?

If you go and buy stock the afternoon before dividens are declared do you still capture the full amount? I figured you would, aside from some fine print somewhere I don't see why you wouldn't.

Answers: Dowcet give you a correct answer, but it does need somewhat elaboration. Most companies that pay dividends--not adjectives do--pay 4 times a year. Some actually clear monthly. If you do not buy the stock prior to the ex dividend date, you have to lurk until the next dividend pay-out to receive the dividend. If on the other hand you deal in the stock prior to the ex dividend date, you do not get the dividend. This adjectives assumes that the company actually does reimburse a dividend. Only about 40% of traded non insolvent stocks pay dividends, if that plentiful.
Any time a dividend payment is declared, an "ex-dividend date" is associated near it. If you bought the stock before that, you catch the full dividend, if you bought after, you get zilch.
