Investing Questions and Answers

Can anyone help out me beside my stock portfolio?

I just started investing within the stock market and I'm already losing money!! My current portfolio consists of tickers VTI, AGG, SPIL, EFA, IYR, and IYM. Does anybody hold any suggestions on how to be more profitable?

by the way i am a college student so i lone have in the order of one hundered dollars to invest each month.

Answers: Almost everybody above is correct within one way or another...you simply started at the wrong time...but things will change.
The single suggestion I would make is I don`t know get out of the IYR ( U.S. Real Estate)...lately one of the worst sectors to be surrounded by right now.
Also, if you're young-looking, forget about the AGG ( bond fund)...you'll buy bonds then when you have profits to " protect".
If you want, move more into the international ..EFA, or even look at a different one EEB ( more directly invested surrounded by Brazil, Russia, India and China...the economies that are doing for a time better than the U.S. right now)
You don't seem to own much in vivacity...look into that ..or even " alternative energy" ( PBW, GEX)
...and if you have the stomach for it...right immediately is the time to invest even more...hard to do... downright depressing,right?...BUT, you'll be buying more shares for the money.
Good luck.
Split your money up. I approaching 1 high risk, 1 med and 1 low.

High risk/high reward - EGLF.OB
Med risk - AMD, SIRI
Low Risk - PFE
Wow. look at that first answer. Do you assume he is just recommend what he has bought and is currently losing on?

If this is money you don't entail and won't touch then I would invest into great companies that hold been hammer lately. Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and US Bank have be hurt by the subprime mess but they are large plenty companies to make it through. This is safer and have high risk potential

Or the best method is to buy what Warren Buffett is buying. He doesn't lose. If you sign up at www.gurufocus.com next you get to see what the best investor have recently invested contained by and at what price.
Investment depends on a 3 factors:
1.Time for investment
2.Risk on your portfolio
3.Cycle of business
I looked at your Portfolio that tend for stocks and indexes but I hold no idea how did you divide your money between those tickers but i would label
65%-75% mix of bonds (Gov+corporate bonds give at this days tremendously nice yield)
25%-35% stocks & commodities and Foreign currency (example look at this days at gold price ! and swiss franc that surge when market collapse).
this is from my experience (more than 15Y) and then sleep ably. the cycle of business is negative for very soon
if you don't happy beside what u have don't be afraid to conversion cause next can be much worse !
Let me know how much did you pay for your shares and I will support you for FREE.

If I open a Roth IRA immediately, I would with the sole purpose be capable of contribute....?

the max for 2008 correct? I wouldn't be able to contribute for 2007, right?

I tried to unfold up one before the bright year but unfortunate circumstances prevented me from trouncing the clock.

And as I know it, you can contribute up to April 15 for the previos tax year, correct? Meaning if I start on now I can contribute for 2008 up until April 15 2009, right?

I also want to uncap up one as a gift to someone too. Can this be done, I want to start that next to $1000? Or does this person own to set it up on their own?

If I am wrong please let me know, gratitude!

Answers: You can put money into a 2007, not 2008, IRA through 15 April 2008.

You can't open an IRA for someone else. They can with the sole purpose use EARNED INCOME for an IRA. If they earned at least possible a grand and you give them such a gift so they could put it within, I don't think the IRS can do anything roughly speaking that.
You can contribute $4000.00 max NOW for 2007 until April 15th and $5000.00 NOW for 2008 no problem at all. You cannot contribute for 2009 until it's 2009. I suggest introductory it at Vanguard their index funds are really good and 27 of their funds where on earth voted as best buys for 2008 in "Money" mag.

What is the best and fastest way to invest $5,000?

Answers: Safest is a high yield savings account.

Best would be small-cap stock that will hopefully become large.

There is no fast way unless you take it to Vegas (or gamble on anything) and get lucky and beat the House.
Sorry to disappoint you no best, no fastest and safe together. You can be lucky and like in a casino to gamble and win, but this is not an investment!
Investment really depends on 2 factors 1.time 2.risk
sorry again
I prefer at this stage to stand a side from the stock market
Sorry again
Commodity futures. Unless you don't know what you're doing, then it's a good and fast way to lose $5,000.
