What are some promising platinum producing publically traded stocks?
Answers: Not sure which exchange you trade on. but AngloPlat and Impala Platinum are two that I am aware of with ADRs, There are several public companies that traded in South Africa. The only US company that I am aware of is Stillwater Mining (SWC)

Negative risk?
The covariance between two or more historical return series is a common risk indicator for a stock portfolio. But sometimes (quite seldomly contained by fact) the covariance can be negative, which doesn't bring in any real sense. Are within alternative risk indicators, easy to compute and not have this problem?Answers: It can make sense for something to enjoy a negative covariance. Suppose you bought the S&P 500 and you bought an S&P 500 put. They should be negatively correlated. The S&P put decrease the risk of your portfolio, so it adds "negative" risk to your portfolio. (it also decrease your expected return.)
Note that the S&P put only lowers your risk if you also buy the S&P 500 index. Just buying the S&P put does not distribute you a low risk. It is impossible for the overall risk of your portfolio to be less than 0.
