What happen when you short an stock and it go skint?

Would this be a 100% gain? Say I shorted CFC, 100 shares at $7 and it goes out of business, how much money would that be? Thanks!

Answers: you made 700 dollars...when you short a stock you borrow those shares and sell them agreeing to administer them back at a latter date. On your end you want the stock to dance down so when you buy them back to impart back to the untested owner it doesnt cost as much as you sold them for. So again you borrowed 100 shares and sold them for 7 (100*7$)= 700-(100*current price of zero) = 700-0=700 dollars
The fact that the company files for collapse does not mean that the stock price automatically go to zero. Some companies successfully reorganize while lower than bankruptcy protection and verbs as going concerns.

In some bankruptcy cases, the adjectives stock is canceled as part of the reorganization and fresh stock is issued. If that happens, the the unproved stock has no worth. However, you can't count on that happening contained by every situation.
not sure on that one but contact your broker not people on runeye.com ( not that other inhabitants on hear would not have a biddable answer go to a pro since you own money in the market)

Since the market appears to be correcting, what are good stocks to buy put options on?

Answers: www.thewallstreethunter.com wrote a good article about that the other day,, stick with the sectors that are obviously underperforming,, with put options expiring next week, you need the move to happen soon,, stick with financials ,, maybe one that is reporting sometime this week or next.. that will be a major market mover

Good luck
