you are on the right track by considering an online business. You can surely make your 2k monthly, but don't expect it surrounded by the 1st month!
Not sure why others are suggesting you find an online "job", like information entry. You would be putting in some long hrs to trade name 2k monthly I think.
When researching, look for a company offering a lawful, consumable product, preferably with the opportunity of repeat directions. It's hard work prizewinning a customer, so if you can get more than one mart from them, all the better! Commissions come from sale, and sales just. Anything else is possibly a scam, or at best, short-lived. Also, look for companies that aren't charging for the priveledge of working with them. A product website, at lowest possible, should be supplied free of charge.
I am currently working with a company that satisfy all the above, and I am busy building an international distributorship near them. Not quite at the 2k monthly but, but gettin' there.

I deliberate if you need lone 2k/month, I agree with the folks here suggesting an online opportunity. You can be hired as a freelance writer whom writes articles for the web / or be hired for an information entry job.
You would indeed be working from home, and 2k/month would be intensely possible, and you wouldn't invest any money for it.
But if you would like to cram growing a online marketing business, there are heaps places that can give you the rudiments (but usually jibberish talk, and circles you around to buy another 'something.') via a coaching program, a bias, or seminar recordings.
I personally own been involved surrounded by marketing world for few years now, and I enjoy previously made 'lot' of money, (currently brewing a formula/strategy to start my own campaign) and I am qualified to give you the solid foundation contained by internet marketing.
