Whats a good investment on this down turn?
Answers: Invest in any mutual fund that invests in health care. (The healthcare industry owns the politicians.) Healthcare is a great business and it's only going to get better.
I really like Vanguard's Healthcare fund. The symbol is VGHAX.
Healthcare is also great, because a weak US Dollar makes drugs manufactured in the US more attractive to oversea buyers. (The US Dollar is very cheap right now.)
Good luck.
Depending on your age, wait it out. Prices are real low right now. You may even want to consider pumping more money into the market. Price to earnings ratios of companies haven't been this low since Oct. 2002 (the end of the last bear market)
If you are older and more conservative, bonds, long/short funds, and absolute return funds will hold up well for you.
Natural Resources, Gold and Precious Minerals. China, Japan, India, possibly Russia and Brazil and Korea.
Stick with No Load Mutual Funds. We are approaching a great buying opportunity as the mkt. drops further.
Hey just wait till Bush's stimulus package. The dollar will drop even further then.
It was ironic on the news with Katie Couric last night that as they spoke of a tax refund to everyone they showed printing presses printing U.S. currency.
Adding new money hurts the economy.
A cash account that earns interest.
We're in the early stages of a Bear Market. In a major market downtrend 80% of all stocks will mirror the primary trend.
That means virtually every mutual fund and most stocks will tank.
The first rule of making money in the stock market is;
"Don't lose money".
The second rule is;
"See rule # 1".
Would you rather loose 10%, 20%, or 30% foolishly riding a major downtrend or make 5% patiently waiting for it to end?
Think about it.
Better put your money in Belarusian bank.

IRA Rollover to Bank Stock?
I have a Rollover IRA that I would approaching to take some money out of to buy some dune stock. Can I do this without paying any taxes or penalty?Answers: Why not buy the bank stock within the IRA?
there are penalty for withdrawing the money, 10% plus whatever taxes you owe on the money.
The exceptions are age 591/2, hard times withdraw, or 72(t) distribution.
Rollover the IRA to a broker (still beneath the IRA title). Schwab or Fildelity would be a good choice for the student. There is no penalty and it's 100 times better than keeping your money at a dune or insurance company.
BTW: Buying any stock because its "dropped so low" is down right dangerous. How do you know when its past the worst to catch a falling pierce? Learn investing before you do anything. If you buy the stock because you suggest it's the "right time", you're gambling against the probability.
Difference between ipo and fpo?
Answers: IPO = initial price offering
FPO= fully paid ordinary (shares)
ipo is initial public offering
FPO means for position only. Blank placeholders or temporary low-resolution illustrations are labelled with the acronym FPO to indicate where the final version of an image is to be placed in the final file, film, or plate. FPO images are commonly used while the layout of a print project is being determined, and/or when desired images are still to be scanned or photographed. They preserve the pagination that will be needed once the final images are added
IPO stands for Initial Public Offer
FPO stands for Follow on Public Offer
IPO is when the company tries to collect capital from the public for the first time by issuing a specified no. of shares. After this process, it gets listed in the stock exchange and the stocks can be traded in the secondary market.
After getting listed in the exchange, if a company wishes to raise capital again by issuing more shares, it can do so by a FPO.
