I involve to find the efficient annual rate using Excel given the following information:?

A one year $18,000 CD.
8.4% stated interest rate.
Compounded semi annually.

I focus I have it, but really don't know for sure.
One problem I own is that I'm not sure what to do with the salary slot. Would I say that the contribution is : (18,000) * 8.4%? Or do I leave that blank?

Answers: There is a function call XIRR in excel, this will brand name compounding in smaller amount than a year easy. for example u can do similar to this

1/1/2008 -18000 (deposit, outflow)
7/1/2008 756 (first semi annual interest)
12/31/2008 18756 (2nd SA int + return of capital)

use XIRR function , select dates and selct payments and u are done near IRR. This way u can find out exact IRR for transmittal made on any day of the year and u can divide for as many years u want.

Do you see prices being cut on or big deal on computers, etc. to get customers to buy? Wondering whether to dawdle on buying a new notebook, etc.

Answers: Nope. I don't deem one has anything to do near the other. It has an effect on the company but not their product price. Dropping their prices isn't a artifice pill. People aren't spending because of the economy. The Fed is adjectives interest rates but we won't see the effect for a good while.
