Are ETF's worthy for long's,or should they be traded frequently?
I do have one specifically for long positions, however I have too various in portfolio trying to diversify, and I dont see long occupancy growth.Answers: That depends on what you think the nonspecific market is going to do long occupancy.
The exchange traded funds are designed to closely mirror the general open market they are based upon. Their opposite is across all member of the fund and should never be more than a percentage off. What they might need in concert from a managed fund is supposed to be made up near lower fees, loads or overhead.
Since the market have pretty much gone up in any long residence analysis, I believe ETF's should be considered more of a long term investment than a sunshine trader type stock.
For example, if you owned an individual fund of something like G00GLE.. A poor manners report, or conversely a good dramatization report can provide large profits for year traders.
ETF's being base upon the total market will NEVER donate the potential upside of a stock in short lingo. But also, as they are closely tied to the exchange, they also are more protected from risk of something like an Enron Scandal.
Foolish grill for you here - if you don't see long term growth, why are you surrounded by these? Diversification is worthless if those asset classes (for diversification) are just mark time or are heading down.
Unless you are an excellent timer, and can overcome the transaction costs, pitch those in which you don't see long permanent status growth.
Windstream, is the dividend undisruptive?
eps .95 with a dividend of $1? how long can this move about on?Answers: Yield increases as the market and pps falls. We are surrounded by a very down flea market right now so the surrender is looking too high. If the share price go up by 25% the yield will stumble and look sustainable. From what I have read the dividend is sustainable. Rural carrier are subsidized to a degree helping their currency flow and the internet subscribers are helping the bottom line. Look at CZN, another rural holder with a large yield. Nothing is ever sure within the market but it looks appropriate to me.
I don't know if any dividend is truly safe. Having said that Windsteam is a fundamentally profitable company. Here are Morningstar's grades for it. I do own the company stock.
