Answers: Stock prices are determined by the demand and supply of these stocks in the market. If the demand for a particular stock increases vowing to its future prospects, then the price increases; and the converse also holds good.
And the stock point, i think you mean the indices like sensex, come down if the constituent stocks in the index trade at a lower price when compared to their previous closing prices

Stocks and shares is the same thing.In US they use the word stocks more for some reason.

"shares" refers to a the ownership certificates of a particular company.

IPO's are totally constitute primary flea market - virgins.
when Corporate is listing their stock contained by recognized stock bazaar say BSE NSE, etc., they are available for trading surrounded by secondary flea market.

you will get few stock surrounded by primary market because of over subscription (Reliance Power is subscribed 72x)
In inferior market you can by as much you can afford - valuation is a different story altogether.
