How much % return consider a very good return in stock investment?
Answers: I loathe using the expression but: it varies,
My explanation: In our investment groups we have at least 2 traders who are extremely happy earning a 1% return on investment [ROI] - .per trade.
Others prefer 5% to 15% or more ROI per trade.
What no one discloses is how much of their tradiong account they invest for each trade.
Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!

There are many ways to measure.
One measure is risk adjusted. Look at what is available to you as a risk free rate. This usually means short term government securities. You probably should beat that be 4% (if you are investing in blue chip companies) or 10% if you are going for smaller riskier companies.
Another measure is relative. Are you getting more than just tha average for market movement. This is usuallly interpreted as beating an index such as the S&P 500 or the Morgan Stanley world index.
Looking for huge returns like 100% in a year is great fun, but not sustainable. The compound result of beating an index by 4% year after year is huge.
Anything over the S&P500 (as a benchmark) is how most people define their success. This year a minus 2% would be considered good.
I average 4% - 5% a year over the S&P500. This is better than 80% of all mutual funds.
long term average is 11%, so anything over that is good
