What are the advantages and disadvantages of unionizing?
Question:
What are the advantages of unionize
Answer:
Advantages: workers rights are protected and you have a rightfully recognised advocate to step contained by for you when they need to.
Why do you conjecture the governments want to catch rid of them?
Disadvantages:unions/union members are commonly see as trouble makers, slackers etc. a great deal of this is due to bad press and political spin doctoring but a few own also, in days gone by, been their own worst rival especially when you had to be surrounded by a Union this has changed since de-regulation.
If you want any more counsel go on string to your work sector union. They will be more than beaming to assist.
Pro: You are treated like a human anyone with a living wage.
Cons: No advancement really.
I suggest you to request the DVD "Hoffa" starring Academy Award Winner Jack Nicholson for FREE.
pro: better foot, benefits
cons: locked into your job, because any other employment that's not union (most) will require a cut-back contained by your std of living
Unions protect the mediocre/ below average worker while ignoring the individual who shows initiative. Everyone is equal, within pay, contained by recognition, and contained by dues/ other assessments.
On the other hand, employer get the union they deserve. By callous mistreatment of workforce, by ignoring suggestions, complaints and issues, and by paying lower later area wage rates, an employer puts out the "red carpet" for the association.

Exchange traded funds?
Question:
Anyone know of any good ETF's to invest surrounded by? Any tips?
Answer:
ADRE (0.30%)
VWO (0.30%)
EFV (0.40%)
FXI (0.75%)
ETFtrends.com is free and very informative. Always check the charts on Yahoo Finance (also 100% free) and look at the expense ratio (the number within brackets above) that's how much the ETF costs per year.
There are a lot of great performer out there, especially FXI which may be nearing the winding up of an up-trend (bull cycle) and ready to start contracting (bear cycle) so I would be cagey & consider your timeline.
The Wisdom Tree company has some interesting etfs, and iShares have perhaps the biggest test but selection will NOT be a problem next to so many immediately in existence.
If etfs own a drawback, it is that they are so easy to trade that small investors trade them too like greased lightning & rack up fees at their discount brokers. Do some homework & try out your plan.
Good investing!
;-)
*** DISCLOSURE STATEMENT : Wikijo does not own any of the etfs or the fund companies mentioned in this posting, although he have been eyeing them for some time! ***
ETF's, surrounded by general, provide for a group of individual stocks to be effortlessly purchased. Since there are over 900 of them presently, narrowing the choices takes some work and knowing what you hope to accomplish. A angelic place to start is the yahoo etf center. link attached.
1) Yes.
2) Yes.
Foreign market have be outpacing U.S. lately...
These are some ETF's for world mkts:
MXE...Mexico
FXI.China
EZADifferent " emerging" markets( mostly Asia)
Check performance on yahoo and make a contribution them some consideration
Best of luck.
Homebuilders SPDR - XHB- chart looks great
900 ETF's??? I DONT THINK SO!! It's more like 275.
As for single market way too much political risk (especially China) I would not touch a single country and EZA is South AFRICA!
The closing two posters on here knows what they are conversation about. Homebuilders made a nice post christmas suprise today and the sector jump up nicely. However this is one I am unwary to own yet chiefly because of fed uncertanity contained by their next fmoc conference. (it is on my close watch list)
The final one mentioned a few nice ones. ADRE (which I own) is a clone of EFA (more or less) and a total lot cheaper to own cost wise. VWO is also an emergine market play (I like ARDE better though) EFV is the advantage comparable to ADRE and especially EFA (meaning more higher verbs sectors bank, utilties etc.)
I would not invest more than 5% of my total portfoilio on these "special sectors" like home builders exclusively and emerging market and especially in a single country.
Now subsequent year there will be more specialized etfs (one of which will be an international reit (which I would also seriously consider) and who know what else is coming down. But my stragety is a well diversified mixture of etfs (I own 8 of them) surrounded by large, middle and small cap and a nice miture of value, blend and growth zone in totalling to 70/30 mix of domestic and international areas. One thing you requirement is a solid core (pretty much means a impartial diversified etf) of no more than 20% and branch out from there. Something similar to FDM (own) or JKD would be safe here. Now some will speak all you have need of is DIA but that mimics the market you want to BEAT the open market. The choice is your and yours alone to make but do a LOT of research and other diversify and play it safe.

Prediction for the Dow within 2007?
Question:
Its 12500 now.anyone reason 15000 by year end 2007?
Answer:
13500
20% increase? possible, but i doubt it...
It's indubitably possible. However, I doubt it. The stock market is due for a small correction, imo. See http://ibooyah.comf for other 2007 predictions.
16000 and later a pull hindmost. If fed cuts interest rates could step up to 16500
I don't see a 15000 level, no method. If Housing sales and building is any indication things are going to stabilize. Maybe a slightly superior or lower Dow by the end of 2007. Plus it be a lower than expected Christmas sales season, Department stores are hurting, they are a big indicator contained by Consumer spending and it just wasn't as strong this year. I consider commodities in steel and grease will continue to climb, China is showing no slow down.
Peace,
Not sure something like preDICting the Dow...but I have no gag reflex!!
:)
single up, atleast above 13249
I am due to inherit more or less $ 400,000 worth of Abbott Laboratories stock from my dying father.?
Question:
I am currently 40 years old and my sister told me that I would inherit $ 400,000 worth of Abbott Laboritories stock.I work as a Registered Nurse and currently earn going on for 57,000.00 a yearI know not very much money for a healthcare professional.However..I hold currently $36,000 worth of student loans at 8.25%.I'm currently renting at 675/month. and would like to buy a condo for around 250,000.Should I use the stock to income off the student loan and buy the condo out right beside the stock I inherit...therefore not have to make a house allowance or interest on student loansor keep the stock and not touch it...I could that`s why use my income for deferred investment ...ADVICE Please??
Answer:
Easy does it! My guess is that you have received a similar array of answers to this substantial question from a choice of well-meaning people. In your defence, knowledge is going to be the power that will grasp you to your goal near surprising success. You should get going this financial plan with professional relieve from two kinds of experts: a tariff attorney and an investment counselor/advisor. I might add that you should aim referrals - another critical step within your mission. Assuming that your father (or the individual who granted him the stock) worked for Abbott Labs, the shares were purchased at different intervals over the years. Either Abbott Labs or an investment advisor can support you find the dates and prices of respectively "purchase". The tax expert will support you decide which shares to market, based on the import tax consequences. ONLY AT THAT TIME, would you want to make any decision on liquidating the shares. Abbott is as American as American Pie, and is a rock steady company. But, the price per share on December 1, 1998 is exactly matching as the 12-27-06 closing price. The dividend rate is less than 2.25%. Since near is a handful of companies of similar or higher investment status and greater potential for growth, you would be wise to work on a liquidation strategy. It is rather conceivable that you will be able to liquidate adequate shares to pay bad your student loan (which is more than three times the dividend rate from your stocks), make a downpayment on the condominium and reinvest some of the bread in a biddable growth company for another five or six years. Although it sounds like a biddable idea to endow with a finance company the total gift for a new house, it really is not. In a final word, please don't allow yourself to be swayed by station amateurs. As much as 2 percent of the stock value can be all right invested to get rock solid counsel. Stay away from novices and hackers. All the best!
settle up off the student loan, invest the rest, and live stale your wages.
Consult a tax legal representative. They have tricks to liberate you bocu bucks in taxes. That's why rich ancestors stay rich. There might be some stock option where on earth you can do a rollover, but since it's an inheritance it may not work the same route. Sorry to hear about your dad.
Hold onto the stock, or a worthy portion of it. Condo's are not a good investment - you are buying nouns, other people's rules and paying a monthly fee (like rent) that increases year-over-year. Buy anything on manor as that is indisputable estate which will increase in convenience.
I would suggest paying off your student loans near a portion of the stock sale.
Don't rush into anything. Consult a certified financial planner and obtain their unbiased and erudite opinion.
Best of luck. So sorry around your Dad.
If it was me, I'd dosh in the stock and clear off the debts, buy the house and live mortgage and rent free. However, although I know a bit going on for financial affairs in England, I don't know satisfactory about the duty situation in the US and how you stand if you do currency in. You obligation to seek some professional financial warning from a reputable firm of independent advisers.
cart half of the the $400,000 foot off your student loans and near the rest put towards a new place.
An efficient answer to this question requires new information, including what, if any, other debt you have at what interest rates, your credit evaluation, whether you have other investments, including, but not constrained to, a 401k plan at work, any IRA's, stock, savings, etc.
If you can expand the information available, consequently answerers can provide more effective guidance.
You can't for sure count on the value of the Abbott stock within the future or the souk overall, not on real estate income gains, or even your work. You can count that having outstanding loans accrue interest. You describe $286,000 contained by expenditure so it still leaves you a decent chunk of variation for investment after the fact. I would for sure destroy the unsecured debt. The deferred income investment is what my wife and I did also and it is working out well. I individually would not payoff the mortgage in full as in that are mortgage interest deductions and I other earn more on investments than standard mortgage costs. If you can too great, if not after paying down the mortgage will be a better yield for you. You know to stay diverse, why jump all contained by on one choice?
It would appear as though you have in the order of 8000 shares of the stock current price 49 a share.there for the dividends alone are almost 2000 a quarter i don;t know how much you school loans are but use the dividends to spawn loan payments its painless. Also when you get the stock it will be at a stepped up principle so if you sell right away you will not owe possessions gains taxes. And another piece don't let some planner cooperate you in to some cd or mutual fund, abbott is a exceedingly safe stock, and purely so you know it is up over 1500 fifteen hundred percent in 25 years,if it be me i would keep the stock and use those dividends for debt decline. While the dividends would be reducing debt the stock would have the potential to increase network worth.and if you were really worried give or take a few it going down a lot nickname the stock broker and purchase puts which will lock in your gain if the stock craters.
I suggest you to keep hold of paying your student loan as usual.
I suggest you to buy a $125,000.00 house with a down transfer of funds as small as possible for as long as possible and at the lowest fixed interest rate possible.
Any decent Mutual Fund will seize you 16.50%
I suggest you to save and invest at lowest possible half your earnings until you have adequate to pay your entire student loan.
It's not sagacious to keep adjectives your money in one company.
I suggest you to market $320,000.00 of your stock and invest in other companies.
This system you have to invest contained by at least 4 more companies.
If you entail more detailed FREE financial advice afterwards let me know.
Top 5 Answerer.
The safest and best road is to sell satisfactory shares to pay the student loan and buy your condo.
There is nil like owning the roof over your guide and being free from debts. Then live very well on your salary and reinvest your dividends into more shares.
At this rate you will be voting Republican subsequent!
How can I seize a 44.7% return on my dollar contained by investment strategy?
Question:
Answer:
Only way to kind these kinds of returns is within real estate. If you buy a rental property to be exact well underpriced, such as a foreclosure and put a small amount of money down, the return on your initial investment would be glorious if you have positive lolly flow from your renters.
Say your property was $70000, you put 10% down ($7000) and your bread flow was $150 a month ($1800 per annum, rent-expenses) your return on investment is 1800/7000 or 25.7%.
However, in expressions of equity capture, if your property appraised at $90000, you made instant equity of $20000,
so within a sense your ROI is 20000/7000 or %286!
Either way legitimate estate when invested wisely is your best affluence building tool
Fraud.

where on earth is the best place to invest lb20,000 for one year?
Question:
Answer:
One year is a little short for exposure to shares since you might lose your income of lb20k.
If you want capital protection and one and only exposed to upside, the best bet is max out your Cash ISA allowance of lb3k and the rest in online money account that tracks Bank of England rate (currently 5%). Remember to procure interests paid to you monthly.
Notice accounts are fine but they track the interest rate slower than online accounts but you obtain marginally higher rate for tying up your money beside them. Premium bonds pay really poor interest rate, near an element of lottery payouts and are suitable for tremendously risk averse people.
big interest bank depiction its a tough one... you could choose shares but you have the possibility of loosing your money
I would vote premium bonds. You cannot lose & you could win even more!!
The Georgiebuzzbank
at least put lb6000 into a ISA- Fidelity special situations is honourable.
Are you the boy that won deal or no concordat yesterday?!
in my edge account
For individual one year? Chuck as much as you can into a cash isa and the rest contained by a high interest funds account. 1 year is not ample to invest in the stock flea market - you need more or less 5 years for a decent return. Or buy some foreign currency - the pound is severely strong at the moment.
High interest savings details. You can usually get superior rates if you have to dispense notice to annul eg 30days. I suggest you examine the rates for each edge and building society and pick the best. Wish I had lb20,000 to invest
premium bonds if i be you could be lucky and double your takings , safe as houses.
You gif me, I invest you for, make muches monie, almost garantee.
