Usually the higher the risk, the greater POSSIBILITY for a sophisticated return. For example, a $1 lottery ticket is low risk (only a dollar), but the reward is great (millions) but the likelihood is markedly low. On the other hand, putting adjectives your $ into a bio-company is high risk (you don't know if they will discover a unknown drug) but if they do the reward is great.

Why do investment advisors shun local small business investments?

I have be looking for some small investors to grow my 26 year old business improved as an LLC about a year ago.
Each time I locate someone, they explain that their advisor recommend against investing in small businesses, even one as established as mine. Others contend that the $100K I want is way too small to accord with.

I think the singular logical argument against investing in small business is two-fold:
one, the spacious majority of small businesses fail. Many investment advisors play the probability, and odds are you will lose your investment. Certainly, it sounds approaching you're an exception, but from a strictly numbers standpoint, the odds are stacked against small business.
secondly, the potential for gain surrounded by a small business is relatively small. Growth happens, surrounded by successful businesses, but is still small in comparison to big business. Again, it sounds resembling you are an exception, but keep contained by mind that most investment advisors take great strides to preserve personal feelings out of their warning and stick strictly with probabilities.
