Options Interest vs. Volume Question?

Question:
In the option fasten, and this is just a cross-question in broad, if you see "options interest" at something soaring like 38,000 but the volume (for that day) is nought, does that likely have it in mind if I try to buy that option it wont be chock-a-block, i.e. the interest exceeds the number of share holders willing to write option on their stock ? So in that shield I shouldn't even try to purchase the option because at hand are thousands of people ahead of me (assuming I am solely willing to money a reasonable price) ?

A second quiz is this: Is it generally harder to obtain your options lay down filled than a stock decree ? Do only 30-60 % of option orders find filled, whereas 80% of stock advice get bursting ?

Answer:
Option interst is the number of open but full up transactions outstanding. This is the number of unexcuted options contracts. Options market are dealer market, there does not necessitate to be a counterparty available. If you are willing to retribution a high ample price you can fill any decree up to the OCC's contract limit, but if you own that much money you wouldn't be asking this question.

If you place a series of marketplace orders for preference contracts they will get chock-full, but the price will become large.
Open interest have nothing to do beside the number of transactions outstanding. Open interest is the number of contracts that exist. Since the number of long contracts is always equal to the number of short contracts, it represents both the number of long contracts and the number of short contracts. Open interest increases when a trade take place and both the buyer and the seller are first new positions. Open interest decrease when a trade takes place and both the buyer and the street trader are closing existing positions. If one party to the trade is orifice a position and the other is closing a position the trade does not change overt interest.

Here is an example I posted on a message board some time ago.

<<<Could you clarify the meaning of Volume and Open Interest when it comes to Options? >>>

“Open Interest” is the number of route contracts that exist. “Volume” is the number of option contracts traded.

To the best of my culture, every time open interest and volume are displayed along near current quotes for an option, the start on interest figure represents the number of contracts that existed at the naissance of the trading day, while the volume digit represents the number of contracts traded during the day.

To see how these numbers evolution and are reported, let’s go through the first trades of a bright option, January 25 call for Wanda’s Hemp and Opium importers, symbol WHO ME.

On the first day the leeway is available, it will start with

Volume 0
Open interest 0.

At 10:30 that year Andy buys 25 contracts, sold buy Brenda:

Volume 25
Open interest: 25 (but still reported as 0 for the rest of the day).

At 2:00 that day Cathy buys 10 contracts, sold by Don.

Volume 35
Open interest 35 (but still reported as 0 for the rest of the day).

There are no other trades for the alternative that day.

The second hours of daylight will start with

Volume 0
Open interest 35

At 11:00 Ed buys 20 contracts form Fran.

Volume 20
Open interest 55 (but still reported as 35 for the rest of the light of day.

At 1:30 Andy sells the 25 contracts he bought the previous time to George

Volume 45
Open interest 55 (but still reported as 35 for the rest of the day).

Open interest did not change because existing contracts be sold so no new contracts be created.

There are no other trades for the option that morning.

The third day will start next to

Volume 0
Open interest 55.

At 9:45 Cathy sells the 10 contracts she bought the year before to Fran.

Volume 10
Open interest 45 (but still reported as 55 for the rest of the day).

Since both the buy and the purveyor were closing positions, those contracts no longer exist and depart interest is decreased by the number of contracts.

At 12:30 George informs his broker that that he wishes to exercise the 25 contracts he owns. The actual exercise/assignment process does not take place until after the marketplace has closed so this have no impact on volume or open interest for the afternoon. However, the next daylight those contracts will no longer exist, so open interest will be decrease by 25 contracts the next sunshine.

The fourth day will start beside

Volume 0
Open interest 20.

Assuming you use limit instructions it is probably a little more difficult to grasp option directives filled than stock oorders jam-packed simply because there is smaller amount liquidity for options. However, I devise it is always worth trying.

One article you should know is that at the exchange where your charge is sent your order will be bursting before a maket maker's instruct at the same price. That give your order a definate power and increases the chances your decree will be filled as long as you are inclined to pay at least possible as much as the market maker.

If you put in a restrain order to buy below the current bid quote, you enjoy very little luck of getting the order occupied unless the stock price changes.

Day trading ETFs?

Question:
I'd like to trade option on some some ETFs; QQQQ, DIA, SPY, IWM. I'd like to stay focused on a few stocks and trade when they move. I'd prefer not to trade on communication; just the technicals.
I use option so that I do not have to risk that much cash(5K) but ready to take the volatility of option.
What indicators and what confirmations should be used to make 1 day-trade per morning? .03 - .06 per trade would be fine trading 40-80 contracts.
I currentl use QuoteTracker software using EMAs and WMAs, MO, TRIX and RSI as indicators.
I just can't come across to get terrifically successful using my settings.
What have you successfully used? What should I be using and what should I be looking for?

Dan

Answer:
I don't own a great answer to the original interview, but I want to point out that there is a serious error contained by the answer above. Purchasing the most liquid ETF's option doesn't make sense. The individual way for one ETF to gain liquidity over another is by increasing its average day after day volume. Volume usually works inversely of volatility.

She is correct that ETFs by definition are less volatile, so why would you want option (a bet on volatility) on the least volatile ETFs? You should solitary be interested in shorting/issuing them.
Interesting....

The best entry about ETFs are that you are avoiding single-stock risk.

The worst entry would be the prices don't move quickly plenty.

So I would focus on the most liquid of them. This correlation pulls, at any moment, the 10 most actively trading ETFs:
http://custom.marketwatch.com/custom/xtf...

Maybe your trading day could start beside going through those, then finding the ones full-bodied enough to work next to (my definition of decent robustness is they should be above their 200 day moving average). Then I would look at the day after day stochastic/relative strength and buy the one that appears the most OVERSOLD.

I am sure that before the christen option expires you could profit-take a modest gain of 1% or so this process.

If it starts to drop, you still might break even before expiration afternoon. ETFs have a better resiliency than single-stocks do. Good luck!

Can someone explain the fees associated near investing within ETFs. Particularly the expense ratio?

Question:

Answer:
What about them? They're low. They're used to cover the costs of managing the ETF, which is essentially an index fund so it have a manager and traders and administrative staff who necessitate to get rewarded. They are deducted from the returns, so they will exact a little see dispersion between the ETF and the index it tracks.

Wat happen if I own a stock and it falls to 0 or null?

Question:
Do I still own the stock in baggage it raises put a bet on up?

Answer:
Value and ownership are 2 different things. The value of the asset is dependent on the bazaar supply and demand of that asset. Ownership, however, depends on its actual trial existence. While the value of an asset may fade away to zero, your ownership of the stock will not relocate, as long as the stock still exists, ie, the company is still a legally existing entity. If the company closes its doors, the shares you hold will lone be pieces of paper.

The question with which you should concern yourself more is why you held on to a stock that fell to nil and why you didn't protect your investment with some charitable of hedge.

For more information on hedging your investments to protect against downturns within the market, email me at info@liverpoolgroup.com.

Is Dividend & Yield Separate From Profit You've Sold A Stock??

Question:
I'm confused! Please help...

appreciation

Answer:
If you own shares of a company's stock you may receive dividends if the company distributes part of its income to shareholders. Dividend abandon is the percentage return on your investment. For example, if you paid $100 for a share of stock and you receive $5 contained by dividends per year, dividend yield is $5 divided by $100, or 5 percent. On the other mitt, if the stock is now selling contained by the market for $120 per share, its dividend concede is $5 divided by $120, or 4.2 percent. This is the dividend yield a buyer would consider surrounded by deciding whether to buy the stock.

Aside from dividends, you can profit by selling your stock. If the shares you bought for $100 are trading surrounded by the market for $120, you can get rid of your share at a $20 profit, which is called a possessions gain. Of course, if you sell the stock, you will no longer be unloading the dividend income.
You can get two types of income from owning stock, dividend and means.

If you own a stock that has a dividend concede of 2% and is trading at 100 per share. You will get $2 surrounded by dividends per year. If you sell the stock for the hundred but salaried only 80 you hold 20 of capital gain. if you salaried 120 and sold for 100 you have 100 of means loss.
Yes, everything is in nearby, capital gain, dividend and stock levy if any.

Why adjectives relatives lose money trading forex, is in attendance any stealthy ways of trading?

Question:

Answer:
I don't believe everyone lose money trading forex. However, majority of traders lose money. I have be trading since 2005. I lost in the outset when I did not master my emotions and did not own my own system in place. I tried
trading following other people's system. It did not work.

You have need of to create your own trading system and have the discipline to follow it through everytime, beside your stop loss in place. Test your system, examination and test some more next to a demo account. If you are delighted with your demo carrying out, then you can start trading your system near a real commentary.

Losing money will make anyone surface uneasy or guilty. But for beginner traders, huge losses build them feel outstandingly guilty, more so than other more experienced traders. For some, it goes stern to growing up and being skilled by our parents to save the hard-earned money for a drizzly day. Losing the money almost equates to breaking a house tradition we’ve lived by our entire life.

For short-term trading (the type of trading that lots beginner traders are involved in), risking money is a necessity. And again, masses believe this goes against how they be raised. Combine that beside the ever-present pressures from family and friends when you enlighten them that you are becoming a trader or the “I-told-you-so” when you lose money, you’re almost set up from the started to feel guilty more or less what you’re doing.

Don't be shy, go clutch the course at http://www.babypips.com
It is free and one of the best sites, I have come across within Forex education.
study somemore!
because it is practically a scam. They cause money off adjectives the idiots that think they can time the marketplace and when they lose all of their money, they are afraid to right to be heard anything. But if they make money they convey everyone, so their idiot friends think that "if this idiot can create money, so can I".
all ethnic group DONT lose when trading forex options. it is in recent times another way to invest and trade albeit a fundamentally lucrative one. if you are not able to receive money trading "long" in equities after the forex is NOT for you. If you have not traded equities up to that time and someone has talk you into trading in the forex souk then this is a sign that human being is NOT a friend. They are either stupid or they are trying to seperate you from your money for some alternative basis.
No real secret. The facts are that amateurs can't compete with the fluency of professional Fx traders or with the resources they enjoy at their command. It's like a glorious school JV football squad playing the Indianapolis Colts. Unless the entire Colts team comes down next to an extremely bad luggage of the flu, they're gonna win (and, even with the flu, they'll still win if they can manufacture it to the field).

Does that mean that it's impossible for the "average joe" to be paid money in Fx. No, it's not impossible. However it's extremely unlikely and when it does appear, it's usually due to a stroke of good luck.
Well the simple answer is if ALL society are losing money than all you hold to do is the opposite of anything they are doing. If they buy....you sell. If they deal in....you buy.

In reality ALL those do not lose money at Forex. I will however agree that MOST people lose money at Forex. I also own a feeling that MOST those lose money in option, futures and the stock market as all right. Th real problems are human moral fibre and human emeotions.

Without a specific trading plan and the discipline to stick to a plan you have no break to succeed in Forex. Most ethnic group are controlled by fear and greed. How copious times have you stayed within a trade too long because you were greedy and considered necessary more only to see the trade move further against you. How masses times have you gotten out of a trade too soon because you be afraid that it woul move against you but as soon as you got out the marketplace continued to generate profits that should have be yours.

So I guess to answer your question....yes within is a secret approach to trade Forex. It is to have a solid trading plan, hold the firm discipline to stick to the plan, always use a stop loss, other have a profit target, salary very close attention to your charts, keep hold of fear and greed locked surrounded by a drawer somewhere.........

Or setup a simple conservative hedge trade where on earth you let the flea market do it's thing. You don't diligence because you can make money if the open market goes up or down. You will capture paid an interest fee everyday. And you only own to spend about 30 minutes a week to govern an account of any size.

I am simply amazed that more peolple do not use hedging strategies....the bank all do......and they are trading YOUR money!
