Investing Questions and Answers

Hey, what make stocks progress up and down?

Question:

Answers:
As many own said it is the Law of Supply and Demand.

Simply put, price is directly related to demand and inversely related to supply. So if constraint goes up (and everything else stays the same) price go up, if demand go down (and everything else stays the same) price goes down. With supply it is the contrasting: Supply goes up (and everything else remains the same) price go down, and vice versa.

The real interrogate is: What determines supply and demand?

The answer is unforced enough: open market psychology. The problem is knowing what the market psychology is for a selective stock.

Some say that stock prices will travel up if a company is making a good profit, have increasing sales, etc. But none of these own a direct effect on stock price. Plenty of companies with "righteous numbers" see their stock price fall. Why? Because the souk psychology is not solely dependent upon the "numbers". These are "fundamental" investors, they trade based on the fundamentals of a company.

Others say-so that stock prices follow certain pattern that can be discovered with ample research. Again, this is not a fool-proof system. Market psychology is not cyclical. Do your moods match a infallible pattern, adjectives the time? I'll bet not. These investors are known as "technical" traders, they trade on the systematic aspects of the stock price.

So what determines market psychology? Many things: The condition of the company, the condition of its industry (the whale grease industry is an example of an industry in desperate condition), the condition of the overall economy (a recession affects a majority of companies), governmental issues (is the management likely to regulate the company out of existence?), country conditions (a company within Afghanistan is less credible to see its stock rise than a similar company in the US).

You can kind an educated guess on bazaar psychology by considering all of these and more, adjectives at once. Obviously, it is impossible to know how each and every factor will affect a stock price. This is why not a soul can "time" the market, not a soul can consider everything at once.

These are the factors that be paid a stock go up and down.
supply and constraint
The public confidence in what the company is doing.
Sales or the nouns there of.
the plea is supply and demand, if in that are more buyers than people wish to sell the price go up. If there are more seller than buyers the price will go down. The factor creating the supply/demand can be anything ... company announcements, profits, scandals etc
There is a short possession and a long term effect of stock prices. In the short occupancy there are any number of factor that can cause a stock to progress up or down. News about the stock is the number one short possession factor. If the news is obedient, then the share price will stir up. If the news is bleak, then it will run down. Sometimes certain stock prices will walk up or down based on the communication about the industry that the coampany is surrounded by. Economic factors also may motivation the stock price to go up or down. These are of late short term price fluctualtions.

In the long possession, the performance of the company will dictate whether the price of a particulart stock will rise or tumble. A stock is not just a piece of rag to buy or sell. A stock represents ownership of business. If the business exceedingly profitable, then the stock price will rise. If the business is not that proifitable or is losing money, afterwards the stock price will fall.
Buyers > Sellers = Price Goes Up

Sellers > Buyers = Price Goes Down

There are a ton of reason why there are sometimes more seller or more buyers.

What is the intention for a brokerage not to adopt buy decree for some pink sheets stocks?

Question:

Answers:
You should ask them, not us. One reason that I can envisage is that when you filled out your application for an justification and provided your profile, the profile of investments did not match what you be wanting to buy. Another reason might be is they enjoy a policy of not accepting certain types of instructions. A 3rd reason have to do with the net site rather than the broker. I own had problems near the TD Ameritrade web site not accepting infallible types of orders. One be for a pink sheet stock and one for a NYSE traded warrant.

I just call the firm and had them enter the directives for me. No problem.
Pink sheet stocks can be very risky. Brokerages must hold additional documentation from the client for these risky investments to prove that they did not solicit or sometimes even suggest that you liik into them. It's usually basically not worth the hastle. If something goes wrong, the SEC comes down fundamentally hard on them next to things like this.

VOLV file to be delisted from NASDAQ, traded with the sole purpose on Stockholm exchange. How will that affect my stock?

Question:

Answers:
I saw that announcement. Did not like the U S regulations. It will verbs to trade on the pink sheets. The market will not be as juice perhaps. There be something in the announcement almost the ADRs and I do not recall what it said since I do not currently own it. If I take back correctly the ADRs will be converted to native Volvo shares, but I might terribly well be mistaken on that point.

I do own stock contained by a Danish company that is traded on the pink sheets as original shares. Did not have any problem buying them. Hopefully, I will not own any trouble selling them either.
It will unambiguously affect the liquidity of your shares. Probably the bid-ask spread will widen, description your sell price will be much lower than the buy price. Then when you in truth place a sell direct (if it's a market order) your actual selling price (due to slippage) will be even lower than the closing quoted price.

When Baby-Boomers retire, how will it hurt investments for the social group bringing up the rear them?

Question:
will the stock market crash when the summit of boomers retire

Answers:
When the boomers retire, there should be little to no impact on the investments for the subsequent generation. The reality is most boomers don't have plenty invested, and even if they did, they will not be able to verbs it out of the market and stick it beneath the mattress. Most will become more conservative and take smaller quantity risks with their investments, but will stay full invested surrounded by stocks, bonds and fixed income.

As they draw down money from their investments to live on, travel, buy stuff for the grandkids, etc; this will continue to stimulate the reduction and provide for a robust economy.
///
Not if it crashes past then. The housing bubble indeed has the potential of doing the livelihood. We will have to see if we return with over this hump first.

Thanks to our totally incompetent U S government, at hand is every probability the the country will go penniless. I read in U S A Today just this minute that the current unfunded liabilities amount to over 1/2 million dollars for every personality in the U S. Don't know whether that take into account adjectives the illegals or not.

The article then said the the political affairs was not worried roughly speaking them. If they became a problem the governing body would just transmutation the law and not take-home pay them. Sounds reasonable to me.
Good Question!

What I currently see is some type of amnesty for illegals which will flood the void when the toddler boomers retire.

The more people paying into S. S. the longer it will work.

Look for the American working population to rise opening up if an immigration deal is worked out between Bush & Mexican President Foxx.
The American marketplace might sure take a hit (unless it does so beforehand, as the other party suggested), as many of those infant boomers I'm guessing are holding mutual funds (which mostly invest in companies making up the Dow and the S&P). Their spendings will as expected help boost companies' profits - but it remains to be see whether that will be American companies or overseas ones.

On the other hand, most analysts (myself included) expect inflation to rise and the Dollar to drop - this would hold the effect of making the Dow artificially go up. Gold, grease, and the reserves of most countries are slowly going to Euros. But the biggest nail surrounded by the coffin is the national debt... America's ONLY hope for catching up on it is to devalue the Dollar. For now, at lowest possible, China's not about to consent to that happen (since most of that debt is owned by them)... but the moment they stop propping it up, look out below.

Next time, dear Americans, vote more attentively..
It will be a drag on the market, but I don't feel it will be enough to raison d`¨ºtre a crash. However, crashes will happen every so commonly, with or lacking the bay boomers retiring. See this Vanguard article:
No. Boomers resembling to hoard as well as spend. The social surety obligations are something to verbs about, however. The US can't preserve selling bonds forever. If China sold all their bonds right immediately, the entire US bond market would collapse.

On-line brokers? best and worst?

Question:

Answers:
There are a lot of righteous brokerages depending on what you like and how you trade.

Barron's have a great article on brokerages that they publish each year. (Latest one be in March 6, 2006 though the 2007 article “just” come out). Kiplinger does one too.

Here’s the link to the 2006 Barron’s article.

Here’s the intermingle to the Kiplinger’s July 2006 article which isn’t bad any.

For basic stuff, E*Trade, Ameritrade, and Scottrade are sufficient. For more complex trades, I'd recommend Optionsxpress, ThinkorSwim, or interactivebrokers. Those are by far the top of the industry.

Based on what you put surrounded by your question, I'd recommend one of the first three if you're starting out, but adjectives are very well-mannered. Cheapest probably is scottrade (of the larger online firms). Yes there are cheaper resembling interactivebrokers, but you'll have to procure used to their software based platform (which is doable). They're singular about $1/contract on option!

Brokerages like Fidelity are horrible for anyone near any decent experience. They can do straightforward buy and sell directions, but beyond that, they’ve got to be one of the worst “top” brokers out at hand. Not only are most of their customer service staff in the dark in what copious transactions are, but their fills are usually slow, the statements are unusable (based on “last transaction vs. current conditions!), and they bear forever to resolve any issues. That said, for BASIC buy and sell advice, they’re not too bad. It’s freshly a matter if you want to be beside a broker that can grow with your experience.

So, resolve what's important to you as a trader and compare the brokers! You can use the article, or dance to each website as they adjectives seem to own comparison charts!

And if there are fussy things that you want to mention as being most impressive to you (such as executions, cust svc, cheapest trade - which you mentioned, flexibility on allowing you to do certain types of trades, stop and stop constrict orders, contingent information, great graphing, what if scenarios, training, etc), I'll be glad to relief discuss this with you too!

If you own any questions, permit me know.

Hope that helps!

P.S. I of late found a link to a review of reviews as resourcefully! Here it is:

Motley fool also does a small comparison of the “cheap” firms. Here’s that link.

In decending establish, based on my experience...
Fidelity-Superb
Schwab-Excellent
Scottrade-Very Good
Etrade-Good

I like the 1st responer's answer but I wished he would enjoy elaborated on his rankings. I use Fidelity and they are apt. I also use TD Ameritrade and my only complaint is that they clear very outstandingly little on cash balance. Their research material is not as extensive as that of Fidelity and they charge for T-bill auction purchases. Fidelity does not. However, they could both use increase.
Depends what you're looking for. A few months back Barron's did an article on the "best" brokers.

#1 contained by Web based be TD Ameritrade
#1 in Software base is ThinkOrSwim.com

I use Schwab & ThinkOrSwim. I did use Scottrade, best advantage near them is the price. I use ThinkOrSwim for trading (better tools, featurers and conditional orders). Great PROPHET graphs. Very good tools for Options. Great service. Truly the best broker "tuned" to the wishes of the trader.

Schwab is good for research & especially virtuous for "newbes".

I have no experiance next to TD Waterhouse.
It depends on a couple of things.

I'm an active trader at Schwab (placing more than 30 trades/calendar quarter or 120 trades/year), and I REALLY similar to their StreetSmart Pro trading platform which is available to me for free. It offers some great real-time screening and charting tools. HOWEVER, for regular traders who don't trade that repeatedly, I'm less than thrilled near the standard Schwab website. While they've made some improvements recently, it's still get a way to move about to compete with some of the others. One point I will say for Schwab is that I've ALWAYS received excellent customer service from anyone I've talk with on the phone.

If you're wanting to do option trading, I'd recommend OptionsXpress.com. The commissions are a little difficult than some other places, but they make it unforced to research and execute advanced options strategies. In integration, they provide a virtual trading feature that allows you to do composition trading. (You can even set up an account and article trade prior to funding the account.)
I use Scottrade and similar to it a lot. Only one gripe is that it take a few days to fund your account (unless you shift directly to their office). Other than that, they meet my desires completely and are very cheap.

There is a great site, that truly pays a prize to good traders, that I strongly recommend. It also have monitored posts so that she can learn. She have to be in the top 25% to post, but she can read and swot up.

Don't use real money until she have practiced with play money. It would be close to putting a child on a bicycle without training wheel and saying suitable luck.

Otherwise, there are buy and hold sites for small investors, but I do not recommend them.
I would procure her a practice account first, here is one of tons that are available on line.

Scottrade is probably the best on strip brokerage.
i would start her off next to sharebuilder.com depending upon the account thats open out she can either pay cheque $4 per automatic trade or get 6 trade a month free. and checout Fool.com to swot up more about stocks and investing, thats what im doing i love their site its so informative
Trading can be risky. Since she is young at heart, she can be too aggressive that she may overdo it.

Why don't you ask her to try the Internet Marketing? All she need is to reimburse less than $100 or possibly more depending on the website. Actually, she does not need to do much to earn money. Even when she is in a hurry asleep, she can still earn money. She can even earn up to $1000 or more in sooner or later as long as she is willing to commit herself to it.

Accidental 1000% stock increase?

Question:
This morning one of my stocks shot up by 1000% because someone but a buy order within at 121.00 dollars instead of 12.10 dollars.

I didn't catch it surrounded by time to get any benifit, but is this gentle of foolishness common on the stock souk? The unfortunate side effect of this is that it have completely skewed the chart, and it looks like a flat rank now except this morning.

Answers:
It in fact happens adjectives the time, but you cannot profit from it as it is usually caught and deleted (aka busted) if it be an order entry error, or didn't in actuality happen if it be a reporting error. Furthermore, although it looks like an amazing opportunity, you are not competent to take power of it. If someone puts a buy order surrounded by, they are always entitled to the best price available at the time of execution, so if they put within an order to buy 1000 shares at $121.00 they would take as many shares be available at $12.10 and then the direct would continue to crowd at the best price available for shares available above that price.

Hope that helps!
