Managerial accounting?

Question:
The Joshua Company has gather the following information
Sales $124,000
Direct material used $25,800
Direct Labour 15,200
Fixed:
Factory overhead 12,400
Selling expences 4,200
Adminstrative expenses 8,600

Variable:
Factory overhead 6,600
Selling expenses 8,800
Adminstrative expenses 4,600
There be no beginning or end inventories.Calculate the following
a. contribution margin
b. gross side-line
c.total product cost
d.total period cost

Answers:
a. Contribution edge = Revenues - COGS - Variable expenses
So CM = 124k - (25.8k + 15.2k + 12.4 + 6.6k) - 8.8k - 4.6k = 50.6k

b. Gross profit = Net sales - COGS
So GP = 124k - (25.8k + 15.2k + 12.4 + 6.6k) = 64k

Gross edge is expressed as Gross Profit as a % of net sale. So GM = 64/124*100 = 0.52%

We use the term "nonmanufacturing overhead costs" or "nonmanufacturing costs" to be set to the Selling, Administrative & General (SG&A) expenses and Interest Expense. Under generally official accounting principles (GAAP), these expenses are not product costs. (Product costs only include direct substance, direct labor, and manufacturing overhead.) Nonmanufacturing costs are reported on a company’s income statement as expenses surrounded by the accounting period surrounded by which they are incurred. Expressed another way, nonmanufacturing costs are not allocated to products via overhead rates since they are not included contained by the amounts reported as inventory on the balance sheet or within the cost of goods sold to be precise reported on the income statement.

The terms product and time of year as well as direct and indirect derive from the world of business. The goal is to produce an income statement that have a cost of goods sold, consisting of adjectives product costs, segregated from selling, administrative and financial expenses, making up adjectives the period costs. As a common rule, all trade costs are product costs i.e., all costs incurred inside the factory are product costs. This includes the labor of adjectives factory employees, including the Vice-President of
Manufacturing; adjectives the materials and supplies that are used; the cost of trucking materials to the factory; insurance, light, rent and so on for the factory. It also includes things resembling cafeteria costs in the factory and the salary of managerial accountants employed surrounded by the factory. All costs that are incurred in the business but outside the walls of the factory are time of year costs. The salaries of financial accountants, for instance, are interval costs and part of administrative expenses.

c. Product costs = direct substance, direct labor, and manufacturing overhead
So product costs = 25.8 +15.2 +12.4 +6.6 = 60k. It so happen that product costs = COGS cos there are no initial or closing inventory, otherwise they would not be the same.

d. Period costs are S,G & A expenses
So extent costs = 4.2k + 8.6k +8.8k +4.6k = 26.2k

How to use beta and volatility of stock contained by the investment strategy?

Question:
how to use beta and volatility of stock in the investment strategy? these must be adjectives data, but not often anyone use them or talk in the region of them.

Answers:
I use beta and volatility (standard deviation) all the time.

Under Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT), investments are a trade stale between returns and risks. You'll want 5% for risk-free money market rate, but you should constraint higher rates for something specifically not as certain. For any given amount of risk (defined as their prospective volatility), investors would intrinsically want the highest return. Conversely, investors should endorse on any investment with a lower return and an similar risk. A upward sloping line that connected adjectives these "best" opportunities of investments creates the "Capital Efficiency Frontier"*.

When I invest, I am doing more than basically simple ratios of returns. I am mentally doing the math of the "Sharpe Ratio" (i.e. returns per standard deviation). I want to build sure that for the amount of risk that I am taking in my portfolio, I am maximize my returns. I also want to do mental math on what potential returns are. For example, if I am expecting the market to rise by 10% over the subsequent 12 months and I have a 1.5 beta stock, I have better demand better than 15% returns as otherwise I am taking an extra partially helping of market risk and not taking "alpha", which is returns above the Efficiency Frontier. Also, I want to pick low R-squared stocks and next minimize the cross-correlation of the stocks - this means I can hold very low marketplace risk, minimize my company risk through diversification and have highly high returns.

As a result, I returned more than 80.0% on my 2006 returns near very low volatility. Beat that if you can.

* - okay, I simplified this, but hey, this is simply Y!Answers. Take several years of this to get the full story by getting your CFA charter.

What is the definition of a generic month within Bloomberg?

Question:

Answers:
The answer to this is somewhat complicated.

If you are referring to Generic 1 Mo., 3 Mo. and 6 Mo. Treasury Bills, referenced by the Bloomberg symbols of GB1, GB3 and GB6 (all with the Govt code), next the answer is that those Generic bills actually insinuation specific bills. For example, the 1 Mo. Generic Bill refernces the current 8/2/07 bill. The 3 Mo. GB references the 10/11/07 bill. The 6 Mo. GB reference the 1/10/08 bill.

Bloomberg stores the data for its Generic bond series as they transpire. Thus, you can ask for a graph of the Generic 6 Mo. bill weekly for the past 5 years. The information returned will reference the actual verbs from each week using that week's Generic 6 Mo. bill.

Let me know if near is something more specific you want or if you need to clarify what you are seeking.

What's near the stock markey today?

Question:
Analysts are basically full of beans, because adjectives of the so-called "negative factors" that are supposedly crashing the bazaar today were simply as present last week.

Answers:
Many investors are mutual funds, evade funds, & Govrnment retirement funds, that hire top advisors to manage their portfolios of stocks & investments.
They adjectives have stop loss programs enter into their investment portfolios. When certain stocks decline, for any number of reason, other stocks may have to be sold past its sell-by date to meet "Margin" requirements.
Hence, we attain many investments of adjectives types in a batty sell sour pattern, that may or may not keep on until things calm down.
Unfortunately, investors also use the "Herd" mentality where on earth they all rush for the door out at once, back it closes.
Here is a story that could be related:

http://allafrica.com/stories/20070726088...
******************************...
Analysts basically label up things and it all depends on their interpretation of the factor. I would ignore these type of populace and find out your own information.
CBOE Volitility was up to 24. Thats what happen I hate it when It get above 13. The last time it tanked feb 27th the CBOE be at 19. So when ever the CBOE is on the rise above 13-15 get out.
If you're chitchat about the housing open market, you're right. The housing or real estate souk reached it's top 2 years ago so it's be sliding down for the past 2 years. It be hard for me to believe Tuesday's DOW drop be because of the housing market. If it be, then some investors be playing very risky and after they suddenly decided to drop out. My guess would enjoy been rising interest rates within other countries that caused the DOW to drop along near other indexes.
The stock exchanges are an auction system. It's all psycology.
Stocks are worth what folks think they worth. Alot of relations changed their mind today.
OVER ANALYZING!!

They are "worried" about the price of grease, failed company mergers, low 2Q sale reports from large retailers, and most importantly the adjectives mighty sub-prime mortgages! Their primary "worry" is that credit payments are spreading beyond the sub-prime market...

Basically some jackass broker open his mouth about some stupid thought on his mind and they adjectives start throwin' back a bottle of Xanax! They want to get rid of these guys and agree to in some guys near some real ball for a change!!

I'm sick of everyone gap their mouth because all it does is panic the entire country into believing something that isn't true...

Here's the facts people:

1) GAS IS GOING UP - gain used to it, get organized for it, don't stress out about it!! There is certainly nothing we can do - be indebted we aren't paying $8/gal like they are contained by Europe!!

2) ATTENTION PEOPLE in the sub-prime bazaar, put on a pair of pant and grow up, own up to your responsibilities and pay your F*%$!ing bills!

3) Just because a company reports a lower earn for the 2Q doesn't mean they're doing impossible necessarily - the street just assumes the marketplace is down without thinking "hey, a moment ago maybe our cutback is up and people are buying at nicer stores or spending their money elsewhere"...

If I be you I'd invest every penny I own in the marketplace TODAY before the flea market closes! This is what's called a open market correction. Every so often we hold a nice run-up, then we lose 1/2 of what we made surrounded by a single day... make a contribution it 2-3 days and we'll be right back to where on earth we were :))
