Anyone ever won on the premium bonds?

Question:
I`m thinking of buying some. What`s the chances of unbeaten?

Answers:
I have a relative beside just 600 Bonds, bought within two sets of 300 Bonds three years ago. Last June, July and August this person won 50, 100 and 100 UKP, respectively. Last week, this relative won again (50 UKP) beside the same set of Bonds. He's hoping that August or September will donate him the Big Win! But it's not a bad return so far - specifically better than a normal money account, that's for sure.
I won a hundred pounds on them five years posterior, but had them for ten and zilch since.

Chances are like any risk - it's a have a flutter
I won lb50 last year, i lone had the bonds for 30 years !
In assumption you have something similar to a 1 in 24,000 accident of winning a prize.
If you have the maximum of lb30,000 you could expect on average, about 15 prizes respectively year.
I have have a few lb50 prizes which I elected to automatically re-invest.
Great if you like a flutter, but don't expect to achieve rich overnight!
Good Luck!
I used to work for a well particular high street dune and we used to have some customers that have won nd got cheques for approx lb150 a time but those be customer who had going on for lb200k in premium bonds.
A bloke I work next to has have 2k in premium bonds for in the region of 6 years and has won zilch so in my inference (please note this is solitary an opinion) it really does depend on how much you want to invest.
I won 50 quid in 1974 only just before I get married! Never won another bean since then.
They preserve telling us that everyone have the same likelihood of winning, however I've only ever won one lb25 prize (about 20 years ago) and my mother-in-law seem to win lb100 prizes about 4 times a year.
my mum bought lb100, and one lb50 a week after that. I bought lb500 3 months and have won zilch... im still hoping though!

ps it was surrounded by the observer this weekend that the uncertainty of winning have just increased from 1 24000 to 1 contained by 21000. Woohooo!
The chances are drastically slight, I have won lb50 around three times since they came out donkey years ago.On the other foot someone won a million pounds recently one a holding of one pound held almost from the naissance.
If you have the maximum investment of lb30,000 you should win, on average, some three prizes respectively month.
my wife and I can verify this but lb250 in a month is our individual consideration - so far!
It's a good investment for a difficult rate tax payer but poor, unless you are drastically lucky, for everyone else.
However, our son who has solitary lb50 in bonds won lb500 - someone will other buck the odds!
But unlike the lottery you don't lose your stake money ..you can bread them in.

Best of LUCK
I enjoy won several lb50 prizes and some lb100 ones but never more. My friend won lb1000 and a cousin of mine got lb5000 years ago but I hold never heard or or met anyone who have a big win. I have have mine for years.
My dad has in the order of lb20,000 worth of bonds and he does win on average 8 times a year either the lb50 or lb100 prize.

What does GBP mean?

Question:

Answers:
The pound (symbol: £; ISO code: GBP), divided into 100 pence, is the official currency of the United Kingdom and the Crown dependencies. The slang term "quid" is commonly used in place of "pound(s)".

The official full name pound sterling (plural: pounds sterling) is used mainly in formal contexts and also when it is necessary to distinguish the currency used within the United Kingdom from others that have the same name. The currency name — but not the names of its units — is sometimes abbreviated to just "sterling", particularly in the wholesale financial markets; so "payment accepted in sterling", but never "that costs five sterling". The abbreviations "ster." or "stg." are sometimes used. The term British pound is commonly used in less formal contexts, although it is not an official name of the currency.

The pound was originally the value of one pound Tower weight of sterling silver (hence "pound sterling"). The currency sign is the pound sign, originally ₤ with two cross-bars, then later more commonly £ with a single cross-bar. The pound sign derives from the black-letter "L", from the abbreviation LSD – librae, solidi, denarii – used for the pounds, shillings and pence of the original duodecimal currency system. Libra was the basic Roman unit of weight, which in turn derived from the Latin word for scales or balance. The ISO 4217 currency code is GBP (Great Britain pound). Occasionally the abbreviation UKP is seen, but this is incorrect. The Crown dependencies use their own (non-ISO) codes. Stocks are often traded in pence, so traders may refer to Pence sterling, GBX (sometimes GBp), when listing stock prices.

Following the adoption of the euro by several countries, sterling became the world's oldest currency still in use, and it currently holds the third largest portion of global currency reserves after the US dollar and the euro. The pound sterling is the fourth most-traded currency in the foreign exchange market after the USD, the euro, and the Japanese yen.

What are the indexes surrounded by the stock flea market?

Question:
and why do we use them?

Answers:
An index is merely a measurement of stock marketplace performance. A research group will choose a shipment of stocks and follow their price movements and dividends, calculating a total return. This becomes a standard to compare your own investments against. A lot of prominence is placed on whether a fund can beat its respective index, although the evidence shows this is totally difficult to achieve over the long run.

There are hundreds of indices (pleural of index) out near. Some are customized to suit pension funds, while others are created for selfishness reasons - it is considered prestigious for an investment firm to create an index. (Ironically, because market are efficient and behave contained by a random amble, these firms usually cannot beat their own index.) There are also "socially responsible" indices, which mimic another index but remove stocks of socially undesirable firms (porno, alcohol, tobacco, missiles, country music, etc.).

An index can be narrow or broad. An example of a broad index is the Wilshire 5000, which tracks adjectives domestic stocks. Narrow index examples are: the Dow Jones Industrial Average (only 30 stocks), a sector index (stocks from one particular industry), a market-specific index (stocks from merely one exchange), and an index covering only one small country. Narrow indices just cover a thin box of the overall market and may still contain nonsystematic risk. They are more volatile as a result. For example, consent to us say that congress enact new legislation restricting Medicare reimbursement. A health-care sector index will grain significant effects, whereas a broad-based index (which has stocks from adjectives industries) would feel only a slight sting.

Here are a few of the more common indices. Many of them can be further broken into their expediency or growth components.

- Wilshire 5000, MSCI Total Market Index, Russell 3000, or any "Total Market Index": Total stock market indices hold thousands of U.S. stocks and include >98% of the market's total capitalization.

- S&P 500: Covers stocks of the 500 "most widely held companies" surrounded by the U.S., and makes up almost 70% of the total capitalization of the U.S. stock market. Large-cap stocks singular. It contains equal amounts of value and growth stocks. This is the most-often quoted index contained by the academic world. (The S&P 500 stocks are already included within a total market index.)

- Lehman Brother's Total Bond Index or Aggregate Bond Index: Tracks the most prominent bonds surrounded by the U.S. All bonds are investment-grade. Average duration is about 5 years, so this is an intermediate-term bond index.

- MSCI EAFE Index: The Morgan Stanley Capital International Europe, Australasia, and Far East Index … moderately a mouthful. This index covers the largest stocks in 21 developed countries outside the U.S.
Indexes are used as a path to track certain segements of the stock open market, and to see, overall, how that are is moving, or as a benchmark for which to compare an individual stock. For example, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is the most widely used indicator of the overall stock market. It is comprised of the average of 30 ample stocks. There also indexes that track small companies, mid size companies, real estate, foreign contries, etc.

I would suggest going to www.investorwords.com to find more information on the a range of indecies that are available, and on the indecies themselves.

What is a Comparative Marketing Analysis?

Question:

Answers:
That is a process where you compare a business to similar businesses surrounded by the same nouns. For example, if you are thinking of opening a Starbucks franchise close you, you would need to find out such things as what the traffic is, where on earth the next nearest Starbucks is, how copious customers you would need to break even, what other coffee shops are in the neighbourhood, etc.

This is part of the process to determine if the conception of buying into the franchise makes sense economically
dont listen to nurse man Gaylord M. Focker...Comparative Marketing Analysis also prearranged as CMA or comps...is just comparables...the possession is widely used in unadulterated estate and home lending...and basically gets you comparable prices...similar homes and what they are selling for...

Where can you buy foreign currency?

Question:
can you buy foreign currency at the bank?? but for then where on earth?

Answers:
Banks and exchange agents (like Thomas Cook and American Express) that are located in highest cities or airports will sell you foreign currency, or exchange it, but they charge hefty fees, usually any flat rate or % of total currency exhcanged.

If you are looking to invest in foreign exchange, this is a different story. The easiest course to do this, I find, is through a foreign deposit account approaching one you would find at www.everbank.com.
Call the bank, but the airport most plainly and AAA. Both will charge you a certain amount.
mound might take a few days or an international airport you can buy on the spot

Why is the stock flea market surrounded by the container?

Question:
With consumer confidence being at a six year illustrious you would think the souk would be doing better. Is the stock market freshly fickle? I can never figure that conundrum out?

Answers:
The souk is very intransigent because most people do not invest smartly in need emotions. It is a great time to invest especially since the price of some securities enjoy dropped.
The markets are react to subprime housing markets contained by the US, the concentration of risk amongst financial institutions that have exposure to subprime and the overall tightening of lend to corporates.

Borrowing money is getting more expensive. Big leveraged buyout deals are at risk for not getting done because of inability to in safe hands debt. (Remember buyouts were what be fueling alot of equity market speculation just now.)

Also, a lot of financial institutions and evade funds have alot of exposure to subprime asset back securities (MBS, CMOs, CLOs). That is why you see i-banks and wallstreet firms doing so poorly right now within the markets. Bear Stearns have to seize the collateral for one of its evade funds.

Earnings for some companies are helping to ease the market reaction, but as lend becomes tighter, cost of property goes up and it become more expensive for businesses to operate.

The question is, is this a repricing of risk, or is it a larger contagion that will verbs to hurt the markets around the world.

Consumers within the US are about 60% of the overall spending equation, but how long can spending keep hold of the economy afloat? Maybe as long as we hold good employment numbers, but those nation that are delinquent on their subprime mortgages aren't going to have alot to spend contained by the future...
The marketplace is driven by fear and greed. Right presently it's gripped by fear. Logic, valuation, projections go out the porthole.
all three get it right right now it is Sub Prime bazaar copncerns THEN Oil back to $78 a barrell. You hold to look for winners when you can and try to stay long permanent status in this souk.
While a lot of monetary data is unenthusiastic, all the monetary data surrounded by the world can't predict the market's direction, only defend it. In fact, the souk correlation to the economy is vague at best.

The market is within the tank if your perspective is the later few weeks. From the 2003 low to yesterday's close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 68% or roughly 16% a year. Foreign stocks have done much better.

The Dow and Nasdaq are both still well-above their long residence (200-day) moving average, which is a rough proxy for the primary trend. The S&P, with a cumbersome weighting in financials, is much closer to the jeopardy point. If investors anticipate worse to come, later the market will break down. If they believe the big financials can brush stale the subprime mess then the bazaar will probably drift for a while and then pilfer off again. We'll merely have to hold our eye on the primary trend.
MORTGAGES!! AMERICAN HOME MORTGAGES IS GOING TO GO BELLY UP!

I judge the Economy is doing great. I own my proof: stocks souk DJ indicator at its adjectives time large.?

Question:
and Liberals say the Economy is BAD, tangible BAD and America is going Bankrupt. and they'd been wise saying this since 2000.
Where is your Proof? Liberals?! (hint: Imagination and Hatred do not count as proof)

Answers:
Just because someone is a liberal doesn't mean that they surmise that the economy is doing unsuccessfully. You really shouldn't listen to all the discussion heads on the report channels, I don't know where on earth they get their information but things other seem to be wrong from them.
If you are an investor you probably don't cogitate the economy is doing scantily! Especially when the stocks drop the way they own been dropping.
Dow self at its all time glorious has zilch to do with the overall state of discount. Dow is supposed to grow as the general height of economy grows. It become the matter of how in haste the economy grows. At this point, the stock bazaar is heading for a correction as it has surpassed the overall smooth of growth and is facing a number of looming crises: housing bubble, liquidity crunch among the largest. The discount has to in truth contract and such contraction has to exceed the inflationary pressure for a stock marketplace to dive for a prolonged period of time. Has nought to do with your "liberal" comment though. Read some unsophisticated rules of economics and do some elementary algebra before you making such reaching comments.
The stock bazaar is a discounting mechanism -- it displays the results of investor anticipation for what the adjectives holds. When it's up, people anticipate rising stock prices and probably an expanding reduction, although the market doesn't necessarily correlate beside the economy.

You don't own to be a liberal, however, to recognize that the housing open market is in the dumps, and housing usually lead the economy; the credit market are crunching (as a result of subprime defaults and other factors); we are within fact a debtor nation; grease prices are shooting up -- all those are negative for the broader economy. Can the open market, led by the intercontinental economy, shrug adjectives these factors rotten and keep going? Maybe so. We'll enjoy to wait and see.

Yes, the functionality a pattern site can be patented. It may be patentable as an apparatus or as a method. Patenting a web site can be tricky, so you are clever for calling a patent attorney. Make sure you address with one i.e. well versed within the technology behind the net site.
I am no expert. Far from it, but I believe most web sites are protected by copyright law rather than patent. There have be numerous copyright infringment suits filed concerning websites. And many be settled for big bucks. PS. Copyrights are much easier to obtain and litterally advocate free.

Stock split example?

Question:
I try to understand stock split for yhoo on may 7 2007. It be 2:1 and the price of share stayed the same and go up...

Shouldn't the stock price be half of what it be when it splits? What am I missing

Answers:
You are right. That is the principal behind a stock split. It depends on which service you are looking at the historical stock price. Most services will "split adjust" the price to reconcile the price movements. This channel they go put a bet on historically and adjust the price for you as if the same number of shares be always outstanding (post-split), but they usually footnote that somewhere. You would hold to check to see what unadjusted prices were approaching.
It could have be a reverse split, where you achieve fewer shares but they are worth more.
What you are seeing is purely a function of the graph, it has be backward in tune to smooth out the bump. The answer to your question is yes when you double shares you see value per share.
As far as I know, YHOO have not split since May 2004. Where did you see that it split this year? Even Yahoo's own stock data doesn't show a split this year.

Your thinking is correct that next to a 2 for 1 split, the price would be cut in partly (making the total value of your shares the same). In this covering, I think what you're missing is that within wasn't a 2 for 1 split on that date.
The actual price did drop in partially (are you referring to the May 12, 2004 split?). The graphs on Yahoo finance shows split and dividend-adjusted values.
