Quicken or quickbooks could clearly do this for you. Peachtree accounting would also work well. Peachtree have the ability to use crystal reports for creating custom reports but to be exact an additional purchase and it's not cheap.
Microsoft money will work fine and the small business edition might be the best edition for this functionality.
Excel will work but these programs are a bit nicer and easier. Your accountant will thank you or you will thank you when you simply introduction them into turbotax and you're done.

Another article to remember is that the symbols are web site dependent. I used to own some Morgan Stanley prefered near a ticker of MSJ. This one is no problem; its the same everywhere.
However, I also hold some Bear Stearns prefered issue X. On Quantum it is BSC-X. On E*Trade it is BSC.PR.X. On Yahoo it is BSC-PX. So you can see that the BSC is always matching and the X is always matching, but the stuff in between change.
