You can make money morning trading. You can also make money going to Las Vegas and playing poker. But most inhabitants lose money doing these things. You are not going to make money daytime trading after reading a few books anymore than you are going to make money playing poker surrounded by Vegas after reading a few books. The first answer here be more or less on point, but the single other person that answered next to any knowledge of reality was the Currency trader.

The others are simply full of dooky, e.g., cierestar says "A lot of associates make a LOT of money surrounded by day trading." He make it sound so straightforward, when in certainty, 90% of the peple lose. He also says "what make day trading work is the expertise for the traders to buy and sell within HUGE quantities. Like $5000-10000 trades." Then his math is horrible contained by the next paragraph and he shows a nonspecific vein of ignorance on the subject.

To a successful Day Trader, $5000-$10000 is beans. Maybe cierstar funds 5000-10000 shares of stock, which would be more likely. Second, a Day Trader is not looking for a 10 pt move within a day; to be exact simply ignorance on cirestar's part. And 1000 shares of stock do not "influence" the gooey stocks one iota. Maybe cirestan is used to trading penny stocks. A successful Day Trader is a knowledgeable trader, and know he can only morning trade where and when at hand is liquidity.

Another answer by "thav" starts out with "I am pretty sure..." You don't have need of to go any further, but he tries to equate "investing" near "Day Trading." He could not be further from the truth, and he should be "pretty sure" about something else.

"Investing" is buying something for the longer occupancy, at least, more than sooner or later. Neither is selling short considered "investing." A Trader goes any way, and is repeatedly in and out surrounded by a few minutes.

I trade stock index futures, and my average trades lasts smaller quantity than 30 minutes. For a single contract, my commission cost is less than $10 round trip. I trade online at TerraNovaOnline, and they enjoy several traders that trade more than 200 trades per day, and heaps more that trade over 100 trades every day. But i.e. something else, more like Super Day Trading. With the after-hours session, Day Trading simply resources you will open and close a position inwardly 24 hours, or several times.

What are the benefits of using a full service broker over an online discount broker to invest my IRA Rollover?

Question:

Answers:
I agree with the other answer this is dependant on your risk tolerance and how much money you've get, however I'd never use a full service broker I'd stear more toward a fee base financial planner if I had like mad of money. The problem with full service brokers is the word broker...gist they make money buying and selling not planning. They also don't really perfectionism about recital as fee base planners usually get a percentage of the portfolio appeal and if it goes up so does their pay envelope.

If I had little money I'd stick next to mutual funds, than move into fee base planners when I have plenty to do so.

Other Answers:
Full service usually means you can speak near someone and obtain investment counsel. This is generally a devout way to travel if you have (1) seriously of money... usually above six figures and (2) if you don't know anything almost investing.

If you don't have like mad of money, the brokers fees will really eat into your income and they won't pay much attention to you.

Online brokers are great if you can do research on your own and you are an helpful trader...
Absolutely none
1) IRAs are for long term investments. If you are looking for short permanent status "action"...
2) Their advice is of doubtful merit.
3) Their commission rates are exceedingly high.
4) If you don't own gobs of money within your IRA, they will assign a "newbie" as your account representative. He will be study his trade at your expense. For long term, budge to a "No Load" mutual fund
5) My advice (for a trading account) - move about to on-line broker
