Investing Questions and Answers

Why is it that gap and (prior day) closing securities prices don't other game?

Question:Does some trading take place overnight, I don`t know internationally? Are there any other factor?

Answers:
The bid/ask can change overnight, as investors adaptation their mind about what a stock is in fact worth while the exchanges are closed. The reported price is just the finishing 'ask' that went through an actual trade. If a convenience of a stock drops after hours, then the subsequent day, constraint for the stock (and therefore the 'ask' price) drops. Thus, the price amendment.

American stocks do trade overseas (sort of), but the bid/ask there may or may not echo the bid/ask of domestic exchanges. Stocks tend to reflect foreign trading prices once the flea market reopens the next morning, but there is no requirement that the first trade price of any trading year reflects the prior day's close. The solely thing the price reflect is what investors think a stock is worth at that remarkably moment.

The biggest factor is changes surrounded by investor demand while the exchanges are closed.

Other Answers:
It could not be after hours trading could it? Are US stocks traded on foreign market?

Beacuse the world markets are other trading due to the global time differences! in that are off-hours trading for some markets, yes. another pretext is to gouge the folks that have an amenable market lay down to pop the next morning - a flea market order ability 'i want x shares of stock y, and i am willing to pay packet whatever the going rate is at the time my proclaim is processed.' so say you look over your favorite stocks that you track, see one is on a dip, and put contained by your market writ for the next morning. the traders, if they artificially bump the price formerly the market open, get to deal in at a premium. you will notice that regularly times the stock will go pay for down the point or two it was 'up' contained by an hour or two - this assumes the stock isn't in play or otherwise currently 'newsy' ... if in attendance was a prominent announcement after hours, of course the stock is going to be priced on the 'best guess' of the traders of what the stock is presently worth in buoyant of the news - fantastic yield report? it's going to be much more expensive the next morning only b/c the traders think it's in a minute worth that much ... the market any agrees or the stock price will correct itself.

A stock can "gap up" or down when it open based on report released overnight (or early morning) beforehand the market open.

Many stocks trade in pre-market, and after hour trading.

here may be a company announcement like profit or loss above expected or even a merger next to another company. this is what causes gap

Other Answers:
It depends on what 'collateral' stock you use for outside edge...GE, WMT, MSFT, and some others are high plenty quality that you can short and cover other stocks nearly as commonly as you want.

Using weaker stocks as collateral limits the ammount of stock you can borrow

pious luck though. It's a reference to three year trades, not the number of trades placed over the course of five days (long or short). If you short a stock and then cover that same stock on alike day, it's a daytime trade. You can short 100 stocks, but if you cover them all the subsequent day, it's not a afternoon trade and wouldn't be subject to the day trade rule. (The same hypothesis applies to long trades).

Just keep surrounded by mind, if you are in and out of a stock on alike day three times over a five morning period, afterwards the rule applies. If you can hold a trade till the next morning, the rule doesn't apply at all.

Because at first fundamentals be saying that gold ingots was cheap, next speculators took over and then mom and pop started investing into gold ingots because everyone else is. Someone is going to be left holding the pod :).
But to answer from economic stand point: Basically gold ingots and silver are considered to be precious metals that offer shelfter against falling dollar and unstable geopolitical situations. Is dollar falling? Yes. Is near world instability? Yes. (Israel, Iraq, IRAN!) So, people in recent times flock to gold approaching a heard of cows going to greener pasture. More demand, supply is primarily the same cause prices to go up :)

Weak dollar remember put a bet on in the 80s? When gold ingots was on par to hit $1000? Everyone be buying it and everyone thought it would continue to maintain going up and up. But it didn't. Eventually it reverted to the mean and everybody that bought lofty was hosed. Smells in recent times like the genuine estate market.

Foreign investments...ETF query?

Question:I am thinking about investing within an ETF in any Japan or Canada index. since ETFs are traded in US, how does the meaning go up or down? Does it depend on US souk or foreign market? Also, if the dollar currency go up or down, how does it work for the ETF?

Answers:
The value of an ETF go up or down depends on the stocks which make up the ETF. Most ETF's are comprised of stocks sold on the US market (NYSE, AMEX, NASDAQ) a break down of stocks held by the ETF should be availiable. I'm not sure about the dollar currency though. My thought is if more dollars to buy matching amount of yen or canandian dollars then that should count.

Other Answers:
the plus depends on the index...generally,the advantage is 1/100 th of the index.

Foreign Bonds?

Question:What does it mean when a Foreign Bond is 2 sided and tight and low?

Answers:
Your question is somewhat vague so it's tough to tell. What someone is probably trying to relay you is that the market for the bond is a solution, low-cost market.

"Two-sided" resources there are both buyers and seller for a security. "Tight" money the bid-offer spread (effectively the cost of doing a trade, or the dealer's profit) is small, so the cost for you to trade in that bond should be relatively low. "Deep" resources there are buyers and seller for very roomy quantites of bonds, so that you could buy and sell copious millions of dollars of that bond in the bazaar without disturbing the bazaar (impacting the price).

For example, a large UK policy bond issue would fit the description of what you are talking something like. A small bond issue from a little company would not.

How CAPM be used to estimate the cost of captial for valid but not financial investment outcome?

Question:what's the difference between real and financial investment outcome anyway? What does it has to do next to CAPM? please someone make me realize. thanks!

Answers:
I'm not sure if I entirely construe the question, but I'll supply it a shot. CAPM (capital asset pricing model) is designed to help digit out the price of an asset-----typically a stock. In the case of a stock, you'd look at the company you are evaluating, and consider bread flows, and also the cost of capital, which is made up of cost of equity and cost of debt. In a tangible estate investment, you'd still consider cash flows (for a rental, for example). For cost of debt, you'd use the cost of the mortgage on the property. For cost of equity, imagine about the money you enjoy tied up in the property (say, the down payment), and consider the opportunity cost---how much could you form on that money if it weren't tied up in the property?

I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for, but I hope it help.

Don't step with E Trade. Those jerk will charge you a dormancy fee if you don't flog and buy as often as they would close to. They also charge $20 per transaction. Scott Trade would be far better, as they don't have any dormancy fees and solely charge $7 per transaction. You need to set up an vindication with a trader such as Scott Trade or Charles Schwab. Once you are set up you can convey in money to be placed surrounded by a Money Market type account and afterwards start trading. You better do some reading on the subject first.

In Option Trading - what is intended by "Vols are better bid this morning following bazaar buzz....?"

Question:Currency options should be like peas in a pod as same as stock options except for the underlying?

Answers:
People trade volatility on the flea market, so vols went up a bit following bazaar activity...technique that it got bid up. You can subtract implied volatility based on the price of the option.

FX options are similar to stock option with the voluntary exercise on Americans and the similar features. Just the underlying is different.

Other Answers:
I can answer roughly speaking currency options but not something like the statement.
There are no currency options at hand is what's known as futures on currency and option on futures. Futures are a bit different then option. Futures take away fixed liability options bestow. for example if you buy a call, you can choose to buy stock or not buy stock depending on the price. With futures, if you bought a adjectives, you are obligated to buy the underlying at agreed price. No way out unless you close your futures position. Now near options on futures, its close to stock options except the underlying is a adjectives which in itself is a derivative ;)

if you trademark a profit on the stock flea market, how much of a percentage is taken out on ur income taxes?

Question:I live in Ohio. I'm a newcomer and looking to invest.

Answers:
First of adjectives, you pay no taxes at adjectives until you sell (or receive a dividend). So long as you merely hold the stock, there's no taxable event.

Second of all, stock profits are capital gain. Capital gains can be long or short possession. Long-term gains, within all cases, are tax at an entirely different rate as income.

When you sell stock, you enjoy the option of have your broker withhold some percentage for taxes or of taking it all. In any event, your broker will send you a 1099 form at the ruin of the year that lists exactly how much gain you hold and how much was withheld.

Your import tax preparer can then settle everything up (including offset gains against losses) on your completion of year income tax. So, stocks sold on January 2, 2006 don't own to have the wealth gains rates paid until April 15, 2007.

When adjectives is said and done, look to lose about 30% of your income gains to state and federal income import tax.
