When purchasing stocks for short residence trades, do you embezzle the dividends as DRIPS or brass?

Answers:
CASH !
When you are in a short occupancy trade, that's all that you are looking for unless you hold an interest in the protection.Catching a dividend payout on the trade is just icing as far as I'm concerned.(you didn't say-so what you considered short-term,so I'm assuming the usual 2-30 days.)

Other Answers:
Cash.
One is in a short residence trade to make a few percent on a stock contained by a short time. DRIPS complicate the swiftly turn around, even if you would make a few dollars more, than by taking brass.

Take the bread, drips just mess everything up. Who desires little chunks of stocks that they have to mess next to.

mark to flea market of a derivative

Mark to Market (MTM) means to adjust the price of derivatives to its final traded price on the exchange, this is done in direct to compute the gain/loss for the day on the unfold position.

Where does the stock come from when you put up for sale short?

When you borrow shares, who is lending them out? And why do they do this, do they engineer a profit as well? Who acquire a dividen payment?

Answers:
You do borrow shares from someone if you short. Typically it's the brokerage you are shorting next to, who is using the shares of another account holder. If they don't enjoy the shares, they borrow from another firm. Interesting problems happens when they run out of shares to borrow. Or even better, the owners of the borrowed shares agree on to sell their's. Often when you want to short within a tight market, brokers will trash your trade while advise "no shares available" so you can't always short when you want, no business the price you offer.
Where do the dividends come from?...your pocket if you are holding the short because you enjoy basically a glum stock.

FYI, there's no reason to hold a short unless you are selling a "covered put"; which will be never.

Most traders buy puts to play the downside of an equity.
Again: don't ever short a stock. Use puts.

Good luck to you....

Other Answers:
Typically you are borrowing the shares from another investor (i.e. another client of your broker) who is trying to trade long (waiting for price to go up).

Not sure more or less dividend payment

Well, the other answers are ALMOST right...

Your brokerage has to hold the stock on book, usually because someone else has bought it. They cannot flog more than they have on book, so if you want to put up for sale 5000 shares short, and the brokerage has singular 2000 shares on book, you can only trade 2000 shares through that broker.

The brokerage is essentially lending you the efficacy of the stock; they run the risk that the actual owner will want to sell his stock, next they have to enter the unfurl market to buy it so he can supply it (not exactly, but essentially this is what they do.)

The brokerage will charge you money for lending you the advantage of the stock.

Yes, you borrow shares from the brokerage, and believe me the unflawed stocks to short may not be available for shorting. Ex: NYX recently. Now, puts vs. shorts, at hand are times when the volatility premium is so high on the put contract, that make no sense to buy the put, but try to get the stock short and drink that premium instead.

can investing contained by commodities be a apt entity or a doomed to failure point?

Answers:
It's good for the companies you are investing against, and doomed to failure for you, since it is a "zero sum game", which means within every transaction someone wins and someone loses. Big companies next to whole divisions working on this integer what to invest in at what price. No style you are likely to win against that.

Stocks are better, because nearby even if you "lose" in the instant transaction, you can still win if the company increases in expediency over the long term.
