It appears that you are reaching your choke point.
It is unbelievably important that the previous low hold. You could permit the market put in the picture you what to do, by putting a Protective Stop under the previous low, good-'til-canceled. Give it 1% of room, or more or less 100 pts on the Dow, to make a unknown low. If it holds, you stay in. If it breaks you're automatically out.
This opening, you no longer live on hope and fear. It is a wise and logical decision. Then the marketplace can do what it will do, and no amount of hope or fear from you will renovation it. You can live with doesn`t matter what it does. If it goes down another 1,000 pts, you will be set to invest at lower prices, to some extent than strangling yourself.
I've never understood the "Buy and Hold" strategy. Why own a soft asset in a downtrend contained by price?
Hold the actual gold bullion within these days, it is different than the gold ingots stocks as they drop with stock bazaar....check out the 1987 crash and the gold stocks dropped surrounded by tandem with open market while gold held up....once the XAU index completes this drop to possibly 105 however, you want to load up on the gold ingots stocks then....I would hold your gold ingots stocks now though. you can lurk until Nov/Dec as that is the season for gold ingots and a time to take profit

can I roll over a 401k into an IRA formerly age 62 minus cost?
Question:Answers:
Yes.
First of all, a rollover to another qualified plan or IRA is other without cost or taxes, that's what a rollover is by definition. The penalty applies when you bring a DISTRIBUTION from the plan, not when you roll it over.
Secondly, the age in quiz is 59 and a half, not 62.
Third, surrounded by most cases, you'll need a triggering event, which is usually going away your job. Every plan is different. In some, the triggering event is simply turning 55, at which satchel you can take your momney out while you're still working nearby. All future contributions still would progress into the plan. Other plans allow for non-hardship in service withdrawal, which need no triggering event at adjectives. You can roll over your exisiting plan amount to an IRA, and again, your future contributions would still travel into the existing plan. Check with your HR department to see if your company allows this. Hundreds already do, and more are writing it into the plan document every year.
So, contained by many ways, your answer is a resounding YES.
Hope this help!

Not while you're still working at the same employer. You can do it after you start out, tho.
Yes, people do it adjectives the time. I think you can do it up until 70 1/2.
I argue that it is the best piece you can do, when the opportunity arises. Until you leave a sure company, though, they don't give you the karma. But when you change job, that's the best opportunity you've had.
In an IRA, mostly, you'll have oodles more choices, because you can easily set it up as a self-directed narrative, and buy virtually any stock or fund, while most 401-k plans limit you to a specific detail of funds.
Best of luck to you.

Rolling over a 401k from one employer to another.?
Question:What are the employee's rights in excepting the funds to be transferd contained by a timely maner?Answers:
Some plans only liquidate sometime a month, especially if they're annuity-based, so you may just be out of luck. A better examine is why are you rolling it to another 401(k) and not a self-directed IRA? The greater control (see you current siutation for an example), FAR wider range of investment choices (10 or so funds vs. UNLIMITED), and the flair to create a Stretch IRA for your heirs are adjectives reasons why an IRA would be a much smarter choice than your current 401(k) plan.

Rockstar Toby prompted my other give somebody the third degree BTW. Pretty hot for an Aussie guy with a dumb diction! I am indirectly short the market by holding securities that do resourcefully in down market and shorting some high beta name. I do have most of my money on the long side, though - it basically works out that I make money on down days.
Anyone that seriously give you a projected low in the Dow right very soon is either crazy, not conversant, or Jesus. Too much volatility, too much uncertainty, too much macro cast-offs going on. If the Dow hit 10,500 on August 1, and a nuclear bomb went past its sell-by date in downtown NY (not out of the query by any means), the dow would fall right through 10k.
A apposite strategy is to go long volatility, since it's pretty certain we'll see fairly a bit of volatility over at least the subsequent month or so.

What are the methods of estimating equity beta or how do you estimate equity beta?
Question:Answers:
The simplest way to do it is to progress to finance.yahoo.com, enter the ticker for the stock you want, click switch statistics, and it will be listed on the right foot side, directly under the announcement (first item listed below stock price history).
The more complicated way is to enumerate the average monthly price for the stock with the most recent month on top within an excel spread sheet. List the average monthly price for the SP 500 in like peas in a pod fashion. Calculate the average return for the previous month for both the stock and the SP 500 by dividing one month by the previous and subtracting one from the result and expressing the answer surrounded by percentage form. After you have done that for both the stock you are interested contained by and the market, inform excel to calculate the covariance between the two sets of notes (=cov(individual stock dataset, SP 500 dataset). Then calculate the variance for simply the SP 500, (=var(sp 500 dataset). Then divide the covariance by the variance.
Beta tells you how much an individual stocks price (i.e. its return) fluctuates contained by comparison to a market index, such as the SP 500. A beta superior than "1" and the stock is more risky than the market (i.e. it is more possible to fluctuate out of tandem with the market). Hope this help

can you transmit me how to compute the current price to book efficacy, book good point, and P/E Multiplier of Wal-Mart?
Question:Answers:
Go here: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bs?s=WMT&annual
The book value is the Shareholder Equity, I reason. Then, you figure out the number of shares to go and get a book value per share. To do this, you can lug their market bonnet and divide by the price.
For WMT, this is 191.61B / 45.98 = 4.17 billion shares.
SE/shares = 53.171 / 4.17 = 12.76 book value per share.
Price to book will be price divided by book importance per share.
45.98 / 12.76 = 3.60, which is close enough.
P/E is a short time ago the price divided by the earnings per share (EPS).
Their EPS be 2.68.
45.98 / 2.68 = 17.2 P/E
